Charles and Mary introduce us to the Widow Thurmond when they deliver a new set of China to her house.   Upon setting up a new China Hutch for the Widow Thurmond, Charles notices some home improvements that could be done and offers up his services to the Widow Thurmond in exchange for the old china set.  With one condition however...that they keep this a secret because he wants to surprise Caroline.   And leave it to Harriett to get the rumor mill going.
