Before it became the cult midnight movie phenomenon ushering in a new kind of counter-culture revolution, The Rocky Horror Picture Show had humble beginnings as a play called They Came from Denton High written by Richard O’Brien and directed by Jim Sharman at the Royal Court Theatre in Sloane Square, Chelsea, London. Right before the previews, it was changed at the suggestion of Jim Sharman to be The Rocky Horror Show. We will take a look at genesis as well as the evolution from play to movie and beyond.
