N/A • 11 april 2024

Today’s episode is a little different than other episodes and I thought it was a valuable topic to talk about: freedom of speech.

In today’s episode, I’ll be speaking with Gabriel Shipton, brother of renowned journalist and founder of WikiLeaks, Julian Assange. Gabriel is a passionate advocate for environmental protection, human rights, and press freedom. Growing up in a family deeply committed to these values, Gabriel was inspired to dedicate his life to making a positive impact on the world. He is a film producer on Ithaka and Fara.

We talk about the following and so much more:

✅What inspired Julian to found WikiLeaks, and his goals when creating the organization

✅The legal battle surrounding Julian’s extradition to the United States and how he has coped

✅ His thoughts on the broader implications of his case for press freedom and the protection of journalists and whistleblowers

✅ How he views the role of WikiLeaks in promoting government transparency and accountability

✅ How he responss  to the criticism that WikiLeaks actions poses risks to national security

✅ What the future is for national security journalism and freedom of speech
