Three generations of ARMY come together to review All the Albums BTS. This includes Natasha, 20, an elder army having been a stan for 7 years. Kristine, 30, who has been army for coming up to 2 year and Leanne, 35, our baby army of just 18 months.
They come together to review All the Albums BTS. They are 100% not experts in music, K-Pop or BTS, so they’re just sharing their opinions and love for the seven wonders and their music. The reviews aren’t chronological; they are decided by a randomised wheel. So follow us as we move from era to era, Album to Album, performance to performance.
For each Album, we’ll discuss the tracks, lyrics, performances and background. Then share our individual favourite song, lyric, vocal, rap, dance break, live performance & look. We’ll also try and face the agonising task of what song we’d skip (if forced to do so!) and give the Album a grade.
So join us as we step into the Magic shop every 2 weeks. Borahae!

Hello Army! We are back with the first part of the album review that let's be honest, nobody asked for, but we hope you'll still listen! If you're a baby Army and have never heard of RM by Rap Monster before because it's not most mainstream streaming platforms, you can listen to it on Soundcloud or on Youtube before you listen to our opinions on it. A worthwhile general warning for this episode is that seeing as this is from a very early era of RM, when he was a super tough hardcore rapper who had just organised a hip hop school for the vocal line and wanted to show off his knowledge, so these songs (and our episode as a result) are somewhat heavier on swearing and crass/ at times slightly vulgar language. We would therefore recommend that you do NOT listen around anyone who is particularly young or particularly sensitive to that kind of thing! We do however promise that as usual for RM, there are plenty of golden nuggets of wisdom and interesting reflections scattered across the album, so the deep dive is definitely worth it! We hope you enjoy listening :)

It's February (AND Lunar New Year) so what better time to look back on the year that has just gone by! In this episode (which, we're levelling with you guys, was meant to be the Christmas special) we talk through the stats of all the awards sections that took place throughout the episodes we released across 2023, as well as since the podcast started. Who do you think won MVP the most times overall (hint, it's not one of our biases)? We then move on to this year's BTS song draft, which is different to last year's because we have so many solo songs and albums at play. There is however still some overlap in our choices, so listen to find out who got what songs, and if you're doing so reasonably close to when this episode is released, please look out for your chance to vote for the 2023 draft winner on our Instagram stories! If you're listening way in the future, we will try to remember to update this episode description once we have a winner. :)
After the draft we once again imagine the BTS concert of our dreams based on our draft picks, and just like last year this gets very silly as we allow ourselves a bit of a break from the Chapter 2: Everyone's-in-the-Military Edition by spending some well-deserved time in Deluluville. We then round off the episode with our 2023 best song ranking and some Bangtan-themed highlights of the year, so we hope you enjoy and that it brightens up the start to your year of the Dragon!
There aren't any links this episode but if you want to ask about anything we've references please do not hesitate to get in touch :)
Thanks so much to everyone who has listened in 2023 and since! Borahae, Happy Lunar New Year and please look forward to our next album review x

Happy New Year Army! Welcome to our reaction special for the Golden album by everyone's favourite Golden Maknae Jeon Jungkook. As is the standard procedure by now for these episodes we take some time to look back on promotional content we received in the lead-up to the album's release, including some very appealing concert photos, all of the flawless performances, and a bunch of interviews where our silly-but-charming boy gets to be his silly-but-charming self. We then talk through our initial thoughts on the album overall, the best looks, content and song, our initial skip and so on, and please be warned that we do have some potentially controversial opinion's on this one... We have however tried to be fair and honest in our takes, so hopefully you will understand and/or forgive us, and more than ever we invite you to please get in touch with your opinions! What makes you love Golden? Which songs are your favourites and why? Do you agree or disagree with anything we've said? Please get in touch to let us know!

Merry Christmas Army and we wish you all a very Happy New Year! We've finally finished Dark & Wild! A project six(ish) months in the making has finally come to an end, just in time for the last days of 2023. Praise the merciful Namjesus during this most wonderful time of the year!
In this episode we discuss the last four songs on the album, which includes some hot takes on the merits of starting a song with Shoobidoobababa, RM's baseless confidence as exemplified by his 'teenie weenie mini, you're a bikini and martini' rap, the trials and tribulations of being an idol in your second year (aka a sophomore/so4more), and whether any of this makes any sense. It is also time to hand out some awards for this very long album, and while we disagreed a lot, we did agree to take the opportunity to challenge ourselves to cut a few more songs than normal! Kristine is sentimental, Leanne is unhappy about it, and Natasha is a bit in her feels as well, so please listen to find out why :)
Please keep in mind also that we recorded this a while ago, so some of the enlistment references aren't quite up to date, but we've recorded some more recent thoughts and hope to get that out soon. Apologies also for some parts of the recording being a bit patchy, there was quite a lot of background noise where Natasha was especially, but we have recently switched recording software to hopefully minimise the amount of issues and the amount of time it takes to edit (please cross your fingers!) and thanks for bearing with us!
If you want to let us know your thoughts on the episode or you want to get in touch for any other reason, you can do so by emailing [email protected], or dm us on Insta @generationbts_, or TikTok @generationbts_, or tweet us on X @generationbts_. Finally, for anyone who has read this far we have recorded a Golden reaction and End of Year Special, and they should hopefully be out shortly if the new software performs as expected, but we decided to prioritise getting this out first. Army! The wait is over, Dark & Wild part two is finally ready for you to listen and enjoy. We do apologise for the delay, if you have been following our Instagram you will know that we hosted our very first live event the other week and that took up a lot of time that we would have otherwise spent editing. If you came to the event, thank you very much and we hope you had an excellent time! We will be looking to hopefully do more events in 2024, so please follow our socials for all the updates. :)
Anyway, in this second instalment of our review of Dark & Wild we discuss quite a big chunk of what is a very long album, full of some deep and reflected songs, some super cool anti-hater songs, some cute songs and some songs that definitely belong in the 'random' bracket of the BTS discography. Through these songs we hear from the rap line about what drew them to the hip hop way of life, about writing songs about not being able to write songs and about making bed waves by kicking your blanket after having said something stupid to the person you like. The girl who ignores them (aka the central relationship/theme of the album), comes up only once in these seven (!) songs, but that does mean that there's time for some choice words about phones, as they are noisy and distracting when you're having a meal and interrupt first kisses, and iPhones in particular make the haters think they're cooler than they are. If you absolutely must have a phone however, please make sure follow the wise words of Min Yoongi and stick to; 'no iPhone, only Samsung'.
If you want to let us know your thoughts on the episode, the quiz, or you want to get in touch for any other reason, you can do so by emailing [email protected], or dm us on Insta @generationbts_, or TikTok @generationbts_, or tweet us on X @generationbts_. Friends, listeners, Army, the moment has finally arrived. Please behold the first instalment of our review of Dark & Wild! As you will understand from the intro we actually recorded this ages ago, but unfortunately solo albums and editing issues got in the way of its release, BUT that does mean we get to tell you our opinions on Jungkook's Seven just in time for the release of Golden, so that feels timely. We will of course also be trying to fit in a Golden reaction episode in the next few weeks but we'll have to see if it comes between the Dark & Wild parts or not...
Anyway, in this one we also cover the first three songs of Dark & Wild, and discuss unrequited or one-sided angsty teenage love, strange intro music, as well as some very dramatic and some potentially mildly problematic lyrics. We also take time to go over the worst of the worst in terms of styling and hairdos across the MVs and performances for Danger, and some slightly weird/cute moments (depending on your take) in the MV and dance practices for War of Hormone. Who had the worst hairdo in Danger? Who was the best cosplayer in the Halloween War of Hormone dance practice? Listen to find out our takes!

Hi Army friends! We're sorry this episode is so late, we had some not small editing issues :( Anyway, please behold our reaction thoughts to everyone's favourite most beautiful boy in the world, BTS V's first album Layover. In traditional style for this 5th solo album produced by our boys, we look back on the promotional content we recieved in the lead-up to the album's release, and fawn over the many many beautiful concept photos. We talk all things Yeontan, beautiful but mysterious MVs and how they fit together, fashionable outfits, sequins, fan meetings, interviews, appearances and the like, and again we manage to touch on the importance of always appreciating what we have whilst we have it and remembering how privileged we are to exist at the same time as Kim Taehyung. As always we also share our best looks, initial favourites, our choices for the dreaded skip (spoiler: we all agree for once!) and our grades out of seven (spoiler: on this we do not agree). We hope you enjoy!
If you would like to join us in telling Natasha she's WRONG in terms of her handsomeness rankings, you want to share your head/heart score or you want to get in touch for any other reason, you can do so by emailing [email protected], or dm us on Insta @generationbts_, Twitter @generationbts_ and TikTok @generationbts_. We made it before the end of the summer guys! Welcome to the Festa special part three :) In this one, we reminisce over years gone by and reflect on what must have been quite a strange time for our seven boys, including a lot of uncertainty and longing to meet Army again and riding bicycles whilst being happy and sad, and feeling free but existential. We also revisit the songs that have gotten us through the last couple of years of reduced access to OT7 content, and we express our gratitude and appreciation for the general wonderful concept that is Festa, a yearly occasion where we get to celebrate being Army. Isn't that wonderful!
We also finally get give out some awards in this episode, for the best Festa song, Festa skip, Festa MVP etc., and we have both strong agreement and strong disagreement across the categories on this occasion... Listen to find out our takes and let us know if you agree!

Hello Army! Sorry for the delay in getting this out first of all, we were back living it up in Korea (and only occasionally crying over not getting tickets for Yoongi's Final concerts). If you want to see what we got up to, please check out our Instagram (details below). Natasha is still there so will keep updating regularly.
Anyway, in this episode we discuss the next set of Festa songs, released between 2017 and 2019, and it is a real rollercoaster of emotions relating to friendships, haters, card games and dead pets, among other things. We also discuss the existence of a Namjoon/Taehyung ship name (TaeJoon seems the obvious choice, right? Please write in if you have thoughts!) and the dumpling incident*, and we take time to fawn over RM's vocals before passing some quite harsh judgment on the rapping abilities of the vocal line. Sorry guys, we can't rap either!
*In this discussion we did mistake Jimin for the person who wanted to eat the dumplings right away and Taehyung for the person that wanted to wait, when in fact it was the other way around, so we apologise and will do better in the future! As we have also learnt from the BTS book, Tae had his reasons!

Surpriseeee! And we hope you had a very happy Festa season. We did as well because we got to review some beautiful music from our seven wonders! We wanted to do a 10th anniversary special and thought it would be nice to mark the occasion by going through the anniversary songs, but we wanted to include Take Two so it's out a little bit after actual Festa. We hope you still enjoy! In this one we discuss the first three efforts, including a sweary introduction, a slightly strange-but-catchy pre-debut throwback and a very loving Namkook ballad. The remainder of the anniversary releases (we chose one per year) will be released in the next couple of parts :)

Annyeong Army! We are back to talk about the absolute masterpiece that is D-Day AND our experience on the incredible D-Day tour. Now that most people have presumably already seen it (if you are planning on catching the encore performances in Seoul in August and don't want to be spoilered, please skip the first 30 minutes of this episode) we thought it would be safe to let you know our thoughts, so in this episode we talk through everything including the organisation, event setup, stage design, VCRs, set list and of course we have endless praise and appreciation for our little kitty genius. He rapped, he sang, he played the piano, he played the guitar, he spoke several languages, he mesmerised, moved and entertained an entire audience on his own, and he performed his little heart out, who else can do it like him?? Thank you Yoongi for a truly amazing show!
Thank you also to all the armies we met around the concerts, you were all lovely! Hopefully some of you might have joined us as listeners now??
In this one we do also give out our initial awards for the best bit of content around the album, our favourite Min Yoongi look, the best song, our initial skip and so on, so there are plenty of spicy takes to look out for in the latter half of the episode! Let us know if you agree with any of our picks (or if you want to send some words of discouragement to ***someone*** who continues their rap line hate (although only on an initial basis!). We will of course also be doing a lyrics review in due course, but we will leave that for when the album is spun in on the normal wheel schedule.

Hello Army! Happy Festa Month :) We hope everyone has been celebrating well for the 10th anniversary, and if anyone managed to go out to Seoul we are very jealous... We are back again with our first thoughts on the masterpiece that is D-Day. It's a bit later than normal because we were lucky enough to go out to New York to see the tour, and then we didn't want to spoiler it, so part two where we talk about the tour will be out later. In this one however we talk about all the content we got around the album release, as well as the D-Day documentary!
Trigger warning: self-harm, drug abuse, trauma, depression. Our Yoongi keeps us busy talking about a lot of big topics, including mental health, loneliness and trauma, so please note that there are parts of this episode that might be upsetting, thus it may not be suitable for younger listeners or for those for whom these topics might be triggering (topics include traumatic events, depression, self-harm, drug abuse). We have included some resources below for anyone who have been affected by the topics brought up in either this episode or in the content released around the album.

Hello Army!
Sorry about the delay on this one, we have been globe trotting and had some audio issues, but welcome back to the final part of You Never Walk Alone! In this one we discuss heavenly Hopekook harmonies, beautiful but underrated songs, sneaky Demian references and, randomly, whether the boys are wearing cologne (you'll have to listen to get the context for that one)... Very excitingly we also give out our awards for the OSTs, the YNWA new songs and the whole album in general (including the songs from Wings), and let's just say there are some CONTROVERSIAL opinions. Which one of us has some hate to share towards a solid fandom favourite? You'll have to listen to find out!

Hey Army! Sorry this is a little late but we were away in New York seeing Yoongi's tour, which was amazing, but we have been dealing with serious post-concert blues ever since :( But now we are back with part two of our You Never Walk Alone series, also known as the first part where we discuss the actual album, which is very exciting! In this one we obviously go very long on Spring Day, the lyrics, the MV and the theories, and we also make time to fawn over our fluffy boys in all of their knitwear and pastel hair colours. We then move on to Not Today and discuss its merits as a social justice anthem, motivational gym song, BTS Club night banger, bomber jacket exhibition theme tune and possible national anthem for the Republic of Borahae. We also have hot takes to share on the choreo for both of the songs, so make sure you listen and let us know whether you agree!

Surprise!!! Welcome back to Generation BTS! As you will know if you listened to our previous full album review, we are due to talk about the repackaged version of Wings, You Never Walk Alone, this time, so apologies if this first part might seem a bit random, Seeing as that album only has three previously unreleased songs however, we decided to add on a little bonus discussion on the Original Soundtracks the boys (read the vocal line except Jungkook) have released for various K-Dramas. Please join us as we share our takes on the songs, fumble our way through trying to relate the themes of the songs to the dramas they accompany despite not having watched all of them, and take some time to hail the undisputed king of OSTs Kim Taehyung, who let's be honest is doing a lot of heavy lifting in this particular set of songs. This episode is a bit of a chaotic one but we hope you enjoy!

Face is here and we're here to talk about it! In this one we give you our initial takes on everything that happened in the lead-up to Jimin's official solo debut, including the name (spoiler alert: our feelings are mixed), the impressively deep concept, the hard and soft photos, the autotune, the naked look, the MVs and the many, many references. We also give our very initial takes on the album, the concept favourite looks, favourite songs and even an initial skip, which was particularly difficult with this one due to the album's overall appeal. Jimin has offered us a lot to unpack, so despite this aready long initial review we also of course intend to do a full lyrics review once the album is spun in on the normal schedule.

Hi guyssss, sorry it's a week late but welcome to the FINAL episode of the final school era album review (Leanne’s very excited)! There’s a bit less romance in this one, but instead we discuss padded jacket trends, teens v young adults, dirty clothes, everyday heroics, trampolines, and letting your worries go, before the romance makes a swift return towards the end.
This is also the episode in which we give out our very exciting awards. There are a few rogue picks in this one but also a few categories on which we are very much in an agreement, and someone might have done a clean sweep… listen to find out who!

Welcome to the lovey-dovey loveliness of Skool Luv Affair episode 2! Except in this one we also talk about haters and existential fears (it is a BTS album after all).
In the first part of the episode we discuss Bangtan's chats with Bang PD, their ideal types and a girl as smooth as salad. We take a sizeable middle chunk to swoon over the most beautifully happy song with sad lyrics and the boys' beautiful plans for a single day of romance, before suffering through Leanne's unfortunate take on the MV (booo!). In the latter part we learn that is is ok to take a break whilst chasing your dream, and that haters unfortunately are gonna hate, even if you do have more pens than they have fans.

Hi guysssss, so it happened again... Welcome to Skool Luv Affair - Part One! We think we'll pivot to this format for the longer/full length albums going forward, but hopefully that's a good thing because it means more episodes (yay!).
In this episode we will discuss the lovey-dovey dream of an album that is Skool Luv Affair, the last instalment of the Skool trilogy. There are parties on bodies, baby shoes, confessions, first dates, hopeful love and Bangtan Style (it's Hip Hop, FYI). We also talk through our problematic fave Boy in Luv, which contains some highlights; including the Lion King, Tae's growl, JK's cuteness and RM's confidence, and some lowlights including most of the MV... It’s time to finish what we started - welcome to the third and final instalment of our Love Yourself: Tear review! Hopefully you might have listened in order but just in case, we intended to publish this episode as a full album review like we normally do. We did however have even more to say about this album than normal, so whilst trying to edit several hours of recording into a normal length episode however we had the idea of publishing this album review in three parts.
To finish off the album we present to you some hot takes on odd kids, bouncy castles, vibe songs and Auto-Tune. Should Outro: Tear go somewhere else in the album? Does it ruin the vibe after So What? Is Anpanman better with choreo? Who will run away with our awards? Find out in this episode!

Welcome to Part Two of the Love Yourself: Tear trilogy! If you listened to part one you’ll know this already but just in case, we intended to publish this episode as a full album review like we normally do. We did however have even more to say about this album than normal, so whilst trying to edit several hours of recording into a normal length episode however we had the idea of publishing this album review in three parts, so if you feel like you're in the middle of an episode in this one that's the reason!
In this episode we discuss sympathising with planets, the woes of running for nothing, JK’s birthday karaoke, RM’s vibing, and the eternal comforts of opening a door in our hearts where the members' love is waiting. Who gets most emotional over Magic Shop? Does Love Maze fit in an album about breaking up? Does Paradise deserve an OT7 performance? Listen for our takes!
We normally say this in the episode, but we'll love you forever if you want to give the podcast a quick review! On Spotify you can just click the stars at the top of the feed, or on Apple Podcasts you can also click the stars and add a message if you want! :)

(FYI - we did not include references to James R. Doty’s book ‘Into the Magic Shop’, because it has recently been debated whether its connection to BTS and to the song ‘Magic Shop’ can be verified).

Welcome to the beautiful dark depths of Love Yourself: Tear! If you've pressed play already you will know this, but we intended to publish this episode as a full album review like we normally do. Whilst trying to edit several hours of recording into a normal length episode however (long-term listeners will know our episodes are already on the long side), we had the idea of publishing this album review in three parts, so please behold, and get your ears around, the first episode of what we have called The Love Yourself: Tear series! In this episode we discuss the transition from the happy, optimistic LY Her into the moody and tortured LY Tear, as well as BTS' takes on pretending to be someone you're not, and expectations around love and relationships - in other words, is it all Fake Love? Fear not if you're not into the big brainy/emotional stuff however, as we do also devote plenty of time to Jungkook's abs, wardrobe malfunctions, the traditional hair and outfit checks and at the end there is quite a lot about an imaginary flower.
We normally say this in the episode, but we'll love you forever if you want to give the podcast a quick review! On Spotify you can just click the stars at the top of the feed, or on Apple Podcasts you can also click the stars and add a message if you want! :)

Happy Christmas Army! We're back just in time with a very special end-of-year episode. In this one Kristine tallied up all our awards to create a quiz of the best lyricist, vocalist, rapper, dresser and the MVP of 2022 - please let us know if you did a better job guessing than Leanne and Natasha! We then move on to our very exciting BTS song draft, and we imagine the BTS concert of our dreams (full disclosure - this gets VERY silly). We round the episode off with the 2022 best song ranking and finally get a bit mushy at the very end, so we hope you enjoy and that you feel Christmassy whilst listening!
As a little gift to everyone who has listened and supported us in the first year of the podcast we have also prepared a small giveaway competition! Please listen to find out how to enter to win surprise parcel of BTS goodies to brighten up the start of your 2023.
We might ask you to name the winner of our draft on our Instagram story, so please keep an eye on @generationbts_! You can also get in touch and follow us on Twitter @generationbts_ and TikTok @generationbts_ or email us on [email protected]. There aren't any links this episode but if you want to ask about anything we've references please do not hesitate to get in touch :)
Thanks so much to everyone who has listened this year! Borahae, Merry Christmas and we hope to see you in 2023! x

Oh what a masterpiece you've given to the world Kim Namjoon, and what a privilege it was to talk about! In this episode we offer our initial reactions to Indigo, the last archive of RM's 20s, and his first official solo album. As with Jack in the Box we take some time to review and discuss the content we got in the release schedule, and give some very early takes and thoughts on the album, the concept, favourite features, favourite songs and so on, with the full lyrics review still to come once the album is spun in on the normal schedule. There are art references, heartfelt letters, massive features, comfort songs, tonal outfits and of course there are pecs (Namtiddies forever). Genuinely no choice but to stan and we hope you agree!

It's time to finish off our exploration of the masterpiece that is the Wings album! In this episode we look at the intro, the unit songs and the OT7 bangers that this album has to offer, and as usual give our takes on what we think it all means. As listeners will undoubtedly expect we spend quite a bit of time interpreting Blood, Sweat and Tears, and discuss everything from Grecian gods, biblical allegories and a bit of Nietzsche for good measure, to vampire outfits, sexy lyrics, and some very sensual floor choreo. We also cover traditional topics like existential angst, haters and political issues, but add on some girls are awesome (woo!), the first Army song and the origin of Borahae. There's symbolism, there's dog dancing, there's a purple ocean, and there is pak choi. What more could you want!!?

We finally have the absolute pleasure of talking about the Wings album, and we're starting with the seven solos from our seven wonders! Join us in exploring what was most of the boys' first foray into doing songs on their own, and the songs' connections to their personal stories, the BTS Universe and to a book from 1919. Kristine tries to explain symbolism of the short films, Leanne tries to get over how amazed she is by the solos, and true to form Natasha succeeds in hating the rap line. We'll also share our thoughts in the awards section, minus the overall album MVP and grade because we will do those next time when we finish the whole album, but plus what we have called the very prestigious Wings Short Film Oscars.
We also apologise for this episode being very late, some of you might have seen on Instagram but we were living it up in Korea! We spent two weeks doing everything BTS that Seoul has to offer and even managed to attend the concert in Busan, which was the experience of a lifetime! We genuinely cannot express how grateful we are to BTS UK Army Unite and the Korean Embassy in London for getting us the tickets. We might do a special episode to share more of our trip soon, and we'll post highlights on our Instagram below if you want to check those out :)
This episode was recorded a while ago, but while we were in Korea we obviously also learnt that BTS are planning to enlist to complete their military service over the next couple of years. Of course will be giving the boys our full support both while they're away and while doing their solo work, and we look forward to welcoming them back in 2025. #BTSWeWillWait

A brand new era! We take you through everything The Most Beautiful Moment in Life, aka HYYH part 1 on this episode, which covers a time marked both by the beauty of youthful optimism and by the existential angst of having to choose the right path in life. In going through these songs we discuss desperate young love and love ending, hard work and the challenges facing younger generations, having fun and eating well, and the boys' various opinions on Converse and on moving out of their first dorm (*sob*).
Just as a disclaimer, we were a bit emotional when we recorded this because it was quite soon after the infamous 2022 Festa dinner, where the 'break' and BTS' chapter two were announced (this is also why it's a bit long), so while we now know that it's a very active break and feel in much higher spirits we didn't know what to expect back then so please bear with us :) We also had a bit of trouble with the technology at various points, so sorry for any dodgy audio!
Also, very excitingly, one of our hosts may have a completely unexpected and out of the blue bias update to share... Tune in for the shocking reveal!

We are back with our initial reactions and thoughts on Jack In the Box! It's a bit of a different one this time around in that we aren't actually going to go song by song over the lyrics, but instead we just take some time to review and discuss the content we got in the release schedule and since (of course including some fangirling over Hobi's many marvellous jumpsuit looks). We then give our first takes on the album as a whole, the singles, which songs are our favourites our initial skip and so on. We will of course also be doing a lyrics review in due course, but we will leave that for when the album is spun in on the normal wheel schedule, when we will have had a bit more time with the songs, a chance to put the lyrics into context and some time for **some people** to hopefully let the album grown on them a bit more... :)
With this episode we also announce that sadly the album reviews will be moving to a monthly schedule as opposed to biweekly, mostly because of the time it takes to research and edit them, but also so that we can take the time to do more reaction specials like this one in the future when the rest of the solo albums are released.
We hope you enjoy!

We’re going back to the School era! Join us as we talk through everything O!RUL8,2?, the second ever mini album by BTS. In this one we discuss academic pressure, love as coffee, dragon memes, Korean dialects, watermelon babies and what the boys would do if they ruled the world (thankfully they didn't at this point in time at least..). There’s obviously also still time for some calling out the haters, some ridiculous outfits and some very literal dance moves to keep us entertained.
What’s the most energetic dance? Who had the worst fur coat? Which member has a future career in props if the idol thing doesn't work out?
You’ll find out in this episode!
*Also, sorry this one is a bit late, it took a while to edit*

Welcome to episode 4 (aka the third official one) where we discuss all things Map of the Soul: Persona! In this one we talk about everything from Namjoon's amazing lyricism, to Jungian concepts of the psyche, through to JK's amazing hair in this era and the life-changing performances of Dionysus. We also manage to find meanings of romantic love, longing for ARMY, and connections to the BTS Universe AND the actual universe, and we discover how through following the teachings of the Map of the Soul era we can truly find ourselves, love ourselves and be at one with ourselves in a way that we hope would make Joonie (and the rest of the boys) proud.
We'll also awe at some amazing looks, performances and give out our regular awards - who do you think is taking home best look, best lyric and best performance? Will we come to an agreement after our varied and controversial scoring of 2 Cool for Skool?
So strap in, because this one is a tad long and complicated - but we wouldn't want it any other way when it comes to understanding the meaning behind these genius boys and their lyrics.

Our second *regularly scheduled* episode! We look back on the great debut, the very first BTS album ever to exist, appropriately titled 2 Cool 4 Skool. Because they were.
We discuss the origins of the band and the concept of a hip hop idol group, and why the concept was quite different from what had come before. There's a few bits about haters, a few bits about the pressures of school, adults and society, some social media etiquette and some reflection on how the boys felt about finally having made it to debut.
Due to this album being on the shorter side, we also cover the three original songs from the Japanese album Wake Up, just because we want to make sure we cover the Japanese discography as well :)
Of course we give our takes on the sometimes questionable fashion and hair BUT often excellent makeup of this era, and we also crown our best looks, best dance breaks, best songs, MVPs and everything else.

Our second episode, which turned out slightly differently than we had planned... In this episode we review the three new songs from Proof, BTS's new anthology album. As a disclaimer, we recorded this episode on the morning of Friday the 10th of June UK time, about four hours after the album and the Yet To Come music video were released, when we did not know as much about what might be coming up as we do now. As we write this description on the evening of Tuesday the 15th of June, the day when the 2022 Festa dinner party video was released, we now do know that with this the boys announced that they will be taking a break from releasing music as a group to focus on solo projects. If you listen to the episode you'll hear that our analysis of the lyrics from Friday morning did touch on this as a possibility, so while we hoped we were wrong, what we had intended to be a fun and exciting special reaction episode of our brand new podcast turned into quite a sad and emotional morning of reflection on what might lie ahead for BTS as a group and for us as Army. Over the weekend we thought we might have overreacted to the hints in the lyrics and that the episode would be too sad, but when today's announcement confirmed that our interpretation had led us down the right path we decided to release what our initial takes were, just in case they might help provide some more context, and possibly also some hope and reassurance via BTS's lyrics that our most beautiful moments together are indeed Yet To Come.
We still do not know everything about what we can expect going forward, but of course we understand and support the boys in everything they do and hope they get some well-deserved rest and an opportunity to rediscover who they are as artists and as human beings. In the meantime we will of course be here to cheer on their solo pursuits, and we also plan to continue our deep dive into their past works and achievements and hope you'll enjoy celebrating them with us in our future episodes (which we promise to make more upbeat!).
We'll also take this time to remember what BTS have taught us in terms of taking care of and loving ourselves and each other, and we are forever grateful for those lessons.

Our very first episode! We cast our minds back to 2017 to talk about the masterpiece full of bangers that is Love Yourself: Her. We discuss everything from Chinese idioms, atomic theory, German folktales, haters, capitalism and of course everything about showing yourself some love. We may also get to explore the hidden depths of the ocean towards the end of the episode… Which song will be our winner, which one would we skip (ONLY if there was an evil criminal there forcing us to do so) and who will we crown album MVP?
