The Parker of 20 years ago would gasp at where he is today: managing a cannabis garden, growing his own medicine, sharing his skills with the world.
His road certainly wasn’t straight, and he’s had more than his share of emotional bumps. Parker Curtis has worked super-hard, developing a calm, methodical mindset evident in the way he speaks and conducts himself. Evident in the quality of his cannabis plants.
His interest in botany started as a child: small but already-green fingers, watching and learning from his grandmother in the garden. Learning how to read plants, how to respond, how to keep them happy.
His later career choices lead him to medicine, working in emergency care, pharmaceuticals, and therapeutics, but he never lost his interest in gardening. His small, indoor grows helped him unwind from a mentally and physically demanding work life.
As time went on, his career, hobbies, and interests began to merge and evolve. Gardening and medicine morphed into growing medicine. Not least because of the difficult times he was living through.
He witnessed the damage that prescription drugs can cause, especially opioids, and he set out to understand cannabinoids, their relative medicinal benefits, and different extraction methods.
Soon after, Parker’s father was diagnosed with throat cancer.
To help support the conventional cancer treatments, Parker and his mother rallied to find alternative treatment methods. With an abundance of homegrown marijuana on hand, they created a regimen of Rick Simpson Oil (RSO), a whole plant extract he’d read about.
Although it helped with many symptoms, Parker’s father eventually lost his battle to cancer.
Though tragic, Parker reflects on this chapter in his life positively, especially the fact his parents saw cannabis in a different light, sharing his belief in the medicinal potential of cannabis.
Parker’s mother continued creating extracts and started an edibles company specializing in baked goods. Together, they provided access to and taught others about extracting cannabinoids for a variety of purposes.
Parker eventually left the traditional world of medicine. He knew he preferred gardens to emergency rooms, greenhouses to trauma wards. His focus shifted 100% to cannabis cultivation and extraction, driven by a desire to learn, share and grow.
Parker has around a decade of cannabis-growing experience, specializing in soil-less and hydro grows. The Homegrown Garden has compelled him to expand his knowledge base, to overcome unique challenges, to learn something new every day – just like our customers!
There are several reasons why growers may opt to set up stealth grows for their cannabis. Some prefer to shield their new hobby from prying eyes, while others might be trying their hand at cultivating marijuana from seeds for the first time.
Growing using a cheap space buckets or small clandestine grow spaces or boxes are excellent options for those who cannot commit to large operations just yet. A sizable setup needs extensive expertise, so it pays to have the necessary experience and knowledge beforehand instead of relying on guesswork.
Kronic discusses the fundamental understanding of how to tell when your plant is hungry, full, deficient, or toxic from nutrients and also he'll tell you listeners when he prefer to begin feeding his cannabis plants!
In today’s episode of the Homegrown Potcast I’ll be going over my top 10 pick for the most creative or euphoric strains to smoke!

Whatever the reason, if you’re going to hit a bowl in the AM, before work, pre-gym or weekend yoga class, you’re going to want to hit the right strain, or you’ll be going nowhere. So in this episode Kronic gives you stoners out there his top 10 picks for wake and bake strains.
Cannabis users Wake and Bake for a multitude of reasons. Maybe it’s a burst of energy and they find it in weed, rather than their morning coffee? Artistic pursuits might be enhanced by the surge of creativity a user may find in weed?
Perhaps it’s the search for enthusiasm and positivity, lending motivation to face a day of drudgery and repetitive boredom? It could be their morning toke rids them of the anxiety they feel, knowing that they’ve got to face an obnoxious boss. Or, more simply, they may just hate their jobs?
Kronic breaks down some killer methods on how to increase the potency of your weed, its THC content, terpenes, resin production and more. So it's is not about increasing the 22% strain to 28%, instead we’re looking at that active cannabinoid number and increasing the goodies within the cannabis plant that help aid medical problems or ailments as well as that all important high.
Uncured cannabis is like unseasoned food, an immature wine or a couch with no cushions. It’s like dropping out of college a week before graduation. It’s unfair on your nostrils and torture for your tastebuds. Why would you want to miss out on the rich, smooth flavor of well-cured cannabis? Why would you want to swap punchy for plain? Why would you want a Plymouth when you could drive a Porsche?
Kronic delves deep into the history of cannabis, cannabis in various religions, and how cannabis ended up around the world. He also discusses how we went from our founding fathers in America being hemp farmers and establishing the first ever cannabis law being that if you are a farmer you HAVE to grow it, to the war on cannabis of recent years.
Kronic will be discussing his thoughts on the cheapest, easiest, and fastest ways to grow weed at home.
What are the cheapest and easiest setups for home growers in an apartment, townhome, rental house, or a home you own. Or different places you can grow in those spaces such as closets, balconies, or basements.
Then there's genetics. Kronic explains the importance of seed genetics and how they affect the speed and vigor of your home grow. Then the flowering period of the plants and who's faster, autos, photos or fast-versions. Which methods and techniques can the beginner grower or the more advanced grower use to speed up that seed to harvest.
Low season? What low season?
What is the best time of year to start growing marijuana outdoors? With autos – any time! Autoflowers are absolutely amazing in this regard. How many times have entire growing seasons been missed because the seeds weren’t planted in time? How many smaller, disappointing harvests have been reaped due to late germination and sowing? Too many. Not a worry if you grow autoflowering cannabis seeds!
Now, you’ve probably heard bad things about autoflowering strains. Perhaps you think they deliver small yields or poor quality bud? Maybe you think they’re less potent and lack flavor? Whatever you’ve heard, it’s time to rip up your preconceptions and ask some serious questions (you’re going to love the answers). Questions like: what’s the biggest yielding autoflower? What’s the fastest-growing autoflower? Do autoflowers take longer outdoors? Are autoflowers less potent? And, basically, are autoflowers worth growing at all? The answer to that last question is a resounding YES – especially if you like all-year-round bud.
In today's episode, we’re going to be talking about what the ideal cannabis feeding schedule is for cannabis plants. Now let me first say that you haven’t been tricked, there is no perfect feeding schedule or recipe for every strain out there however in this episode we’re going to break down how to judge and feed your cannabis strains with great success across the board.
Kronic dives into everything you need to know about Indica versus Sativa and why calling plants Indica and Sativa really aren’t the proper names for these wonderful plants.
There are notable differences in cannabis plant structures and effects when you grow both indicas and sativas. We’ll now take a quick look at what you can expect with indica vs. sativa seeds:
Sativa weed strains are known for providing consumers with an invigorating, full-headed high, with the best Sativa strains being known for giving bursts of energy mixed with a cerebral high. The strongest Sativa strains generally have extremely high THC levels, are often high yielding cannabis strains and can be easy to grow. Naturally, you will find difficult Sativa seeds to grow, this is not just dependent on whether the strain is Sativa or not but more so on other traits and the type of seed.
In today's episode of the homegrown potcast Kronic gets to the bottom on what a fast version is and busts some myths that have come about with fast versions! So pack that bowl, drop a nice dab, and let’s get into come crazy cannabis content! Let’s begin!
There are a lot of misconceptions about what fast versions are and growers who purchase them not fully understanding what the plant is and vegging them too large for their space thinking they will automatically flower.
Cannabis Indica is one of the main types of marijuana alongside cannabis Sativa and Ruderalis. Sativa strains are known for their powerful, energetic high while Ruderalis is generally only used to breed auto-flowering marijuana seeds.
Indica strains are generally considered the opposite of Sativa strains as they provide body relaxation and can help with relieving pain. You might have inhaled some of these or maybe you’ve eaten a few of them, but no matter what the majority of stoners in 2021 thought these 5 Indica strains were the absolute best brick walls they could run into after exhaling that sticky icky goodness.
Kronic breaks down the top 5 strongest Indica strains of 2021 as well as, his personal top 5 Indica strains of all time! Get ready to sit back and pack a nice big bowl of some heavy Indica strains you love, drop a dab that mixes some couch locking hammers and inhale as we blaze into some amazing cannabis content.
Now, you’ve probably heard bad things about autoflowering strains. Perhaps you think they deliver small yields or poor quality bud? Maybe you think they’re less potent and lack flavor? Whatever you’ve heard, it’s time to rip up your preconceptions.
In this episode of the Homegrown Potcast, Kronic breaks down autoflower light schedules and which light schedule he personally recommends. He'll also be diving into the genetic backstory of autoflowers including some much-needed information on Ruderalis.
In this episode of the Homegrown Potcast Kronic will be talking about showstopping purple strains, an overview on anthocyanin, and how to bring out the colors or characteristics much more brightly for purple cannabis plants.
Even before sampling the buds, the first thing that catches attention is their appearance. There is truth to not judging buds solely on their outward appearance. However, in an increasingly visual world, it is undeniable that the tendency is to lean towards attractive-looking buds over ordinary ones. That said, in a sea of buds with varying shades of green, purple-hued ones inevitably stand out and steal the show.
Regal-looking purple nugs are truly nature's masterpiece. These buds owe their beauty to anthocyanins - a phenolic group of water-soluble pigments responsible for giving plants their red, purple, and blue hues.
Cannabis plants inherently contain these pigments. Because the concentration is low, it does not often manifest in its outward appearance. Some strains do have higher anthocyanin content that triggers the beautiful coloration upon exposing it to cold temperatures.
Nowadays, genetic augmentation and selective breeding have produced cannabis varieties that display the coveted lilac coloration without necessarily subjecting it too stressful situations.
The past decade has been revolutionary for the cannabis industry. While widely celebrated, the has not been livelier, more diverse, or far-reaching than in recent years. Moreover, the potency of the strains offered today is far stronger than it ever was, ushering in a new era for the wonder plant and allowing the mind to soar to greater heights. With these THC-loaded variants, canna-high certainly just got higher.
In this episode of the homegrown potcast, Kronic will be discussing the strongest and most potent strains of 2021 and his top picks for the strongest couch locking strains of all time.
On this week's Potcast brought to you by Homegrown Cannabis Co. our resident potcast host Kronic interviews Mitchell Gorgichuck from Visionary Hydroponics. They discuss the fundamentals of cultivating cannabis at home using hydroponics, deep water culture, and how the Hydrobucket can revolutionize and massively improve anyone's home grow setup.
Growing Hydro is great for maintaining a clean environment, it's great for commercial growing, pest control, yield size, and so on, however, there are many disadvantages. Hydroponics can be a pricier option for the home grower and daunting for newbie growers. Especially if you want water pumps and basically everything automated, however, the simplicity it can give a grower who has debilitating illnesses that either contain one to a walker or wheelchair or just simply don’t allow someone to lift lots of weight, growing hydro would be the best investment for a grower to make.
This is where the Hydrobucket can really revolutionize the home grow setup. The hydro bucket allows the user to access nutrient solutions without moving the plant. Testph and EC/ppm, transfer fluid. Inspect roots and interior. Hydrobucket will allow the grower to access the reservoir without lifting, adjusting, or disturbing the plant.
Being able to pump out your water, pump in new water, mix nutrients, and add your airstones all while you don’t have to move your plant or its roots is amazing. For someone missing limbs from war injuries, spinal damage, maybe suffering from Parkinsons, or just any serious enough pain, disease, cancer, or trauma has the ability to never have to move your plants while gardening is insane.
In this very special episode of the Homegrown Potcast, we’re going to be looking at some of the most notorious and original cannabis strains, Skunk, Kush, and 100% Original Colombian Haze. We’ll be discussing how they have shaped the modern cannabis strains we grow and toke today. Be sure to pack a big fat bowl of some sticky icky or drop a dab like never before as we blaze into some incredible cannabis content!
We’re going to discuss tips on how you growers can support your larger yields or heavier colas or buds on those big monsters you have growing! There are tons and tons of ways to really support your plants, so we will break down some of the most popular and easier methods for you listeners out there. After you have managed to support those monstrous beasts that you’ve grown, it’s time to figure out how to harvest these things. We'll be going over that too as with massive plants you really want to be sure you have a good dry on them, even though we all love big colas, those big colas can hold moisture and bud rot can be a serious issue for massive plants.
There are many ways growers can save money cultivating cannabis and most of them are very simple. In this episode, Kronic will be discussing how cannabis home growers can save money on their grow. He'll be going over simple methods such as how to use old soil and different methods of composting. Reusing your old soil can be very beneficial for any grower, especially those on a budget. This is why composting is one of the best things you could do for yourself as a cultivator seeking to re use their soil and make the most out of their daily food scraps for re amending their old soil.
I’ll be discussing the benefits of using molasses with cannabis to maximize the taste and smell of your buds. During the last weeks of the flowering stage, you can try blackstrap molasses to provide carbohydrates, amino acids, and minerals – all of which improve terpene production. For those growers seeking to make a plant quite resinous, simple sugars and carbohydrates are key in trichome production.
Organic unsulphured blackstrap molasses is available pretty much anywhere for extremely cheap. It goes an incredibly long way and will feed a lot of plants. You can actually feed a plant with a proper well-mixed soil, only water and molasses the entire grow with great success.
For soil growers it’s really all about reading what your plants telling you and adding specific amendments to keep the soil healthy and rich. The best thing about soil is you can top-feed your soil with more soil if it begins to run low.
Cannabis plants consume more nutrients as they grow, so giving the right amount is vital. Key to elevated terpene production, however, is the type of nutrients you give them. Using Veganic (or, at least, organic nutrients) is by far the better choice. Organic compounds, such as those derived from kelp, bone meal, and worm castings, break down and do not leave toxic residues.
Marijuana bonsai or a bonsai weed plant exists. In fact, you can grow one yourself. Like a regular bonsai, a bonsai marijuana plant exudes a calming presence and a happy demeanor, whether it’s placed inside your home, garden, or workplace.
In this episode of the Homegrown Potcast, we’ll learn about the cool things in growing a cannabis bonsai, its cultural background, why it is a thing, and how to grow one.
Marijuana plant cultivation is a never-ending quest for innovation. Whether for medicinal purposes, recreational purposes, beautifying, or profit, weed-growers have always found some ways to revolutionize marijuana. Some of these cultivating efforts and ideas gave birth to the bonsai weed.
But more than its yield, a marijuana bonsai tree is a hobby, an act of love for art and design. Cannabis bonsai growers find joy in creating and controlling the small world of the cannabis plant. Growers see cannabis bonsai as a thing that brings joy to oneself and others. The preparation and effort that’s come with growing one are thought to be an achievement.
You can buy cannabis seeds online, in stores or you can even make your own. But, how do you guarantee that your cannabis seeds have good genetics? Well, the first thing to do would be making sure your seeds are from a trusted supplier, such as Homegrown Cannabis Co., but failing that there are some other ways to identify top-notch weed seeds.
In this week's episode, we will be looking at how to identify the best weed seeds, looking at the color, pattern, and feel as well as a few other factors to help equip you with the skills to distinguish the best weed seeds from the weaker ones that you may occasionally find.
After we have taught you how to identify strong cannabis seeds, we will then look at why good genetics is important. To some, it may seem obvious how and why genetics are important, however, far too often to growers end up with worse plants and overall yields as a result of sub-par seeds.
Find out why this is right here as we talk seed genetics this week.
We have talked on this PotCast about other hydroponic growing methods before, however, today we have two of the best ways to grow cannabis hydroponically; aeroponics and aquaponics.
As the two names suggest, aeroponics and aquaponics rely on the use of air and water as their respective predominant grow mediums. Both systems have their advantages and drawbacks, all of which we will discuss in this week's episode and more.
Both aquaponics and aeroponics are unlikely to be the first or even second choices for most growers but that does not mean they're unpopular. A lot of the reasons why people don't use them come down to the lack of information out there on the systems. In this week's episode, we aim to rectify that by telling you everything you need to know about aeroponics and aquaponics for cannabis growing.
White powdery mildew, also known as WPM, is a fungal disease that generally appears on the foliage of your cannabis plants. This fungus is not so common, however, when it strikes it can cause serious problems for your cannabis crops.
The good news is, white powdery mildew is pretty easy to identify as it manifests itself in the form of white spots which grow gradually. With that being said, it's not necessarily as simple as defoliating and removing afflicted leaves, you may have to take further action to treat and prevent it in the future.
In this week's Homegrown PotCast we will look at symptoms, treatments and preventative measures to help you deal with white powdery mildew efficiently. In fact, not just white powdery mildew, but a whole host of other functions and forms of cannabis mold.
The second portion of the episode will focus solely on the other forms of cannabis mold; white mold, black mold, and more!
First up on this week's PotCast is a deep dive into foliar feeding, what is foliar feeding? What purpose does it serve? How do you do it? Find out all on this week's podcast.
Foliar spray is a popular method for growers to use to apply fertilizers to their plants in the event of a nutrient deficiency. By spraying your weed plants using the foliar method, you can act fast to prevent further damage to your plants. Furthermore, using a foliar spray is one of the most effective methods of applying insecticides and fungicides to your plants to cure or prevent any infestations.
Foliar feeding is relatively straightforward, however, before you start you need to figure out what the issue with your plant is, is it a deficiency? If so, which nutrient is your plant lacking? Or, perhaps you have mold, white powdery mildew or even fungus gnats - it is important you diagnose the problem before you act.
In the second part of this week's PotCast we will be looking at further methods that can be used to rid your grow space of pests and insects which can cause some real problems if left unchecked.
If you're a first-time cannabis grower then chances are you may be stuck on where exactly to start, what strain should you choose to grow when there are hundreds available on the market?
In this week's podcast episode we will kick things off by looking at some of the easiest strains to grow which can help make your first-time grow as stress-free as possible.
After looking at the best cannabis seeds to grow for beginners, we will look at the kind of yields you can expect from your first grow. Obviously, this will be dependant on a number of factors. However, if we consider a basic, first attempt at growing cannabis there are certain quantities that can be expected.
Once you successfully germinate your cannabis seeds, give yourselves a round of applause, you've successfully completed the first stage of the growing journey. However, you need to maintain that level of care into the seedling stage and onwards throughout the whole cycle.
The cannabis seedling stage is one of the most crucial segments of the cannabis growth cycle, after all, you can't grow strong and healthy plants without first laying a strong and sturdy foundation.
Here your seedlings will sprout and begin to grow towards the light. A major problem you may face here is that your seedlings may begin to stretch and therefore become less structurally stable. So, we need to figure out how to stop seedlings from stretching and falling over.
During the seedling stage your plants will not only start to sprout upwards towards the light but also down into your chose grow medium to develop their roots. It's imperative that you give your weed seedlings what they need to ensure they grow a healthy root system.
Sustainability is particularly important in modern times, as many farming operations and resource productions don't seek to benefit the environment through sustainable methods. Many may think that using sustainable techniques and materials to grow cannabis is difficult and/or expensive. However, we are here to say that it is not difficult to be a sustainable marijuana grower.
In this week's PotCast episode we will teach you a whole range of techniques to help you become a more sustainable weed grower. You can implement some of these techniques into your garden extremely easily, while others require a bit more effort - either way, we will explain how!
Overall, this week's PotCast episode will be all about increasing the THC levels of your yields. However, the first step towards this is to ensure that your buds have an abundance of trichomes.
First, we will talk about the different ways you can boost trichome production to have your buds looking like dense, green nugs coated in a white layer of trichomes.
But trichomes are not the only factor for boosting THC, there are other ways you can increase this cannabinoid in your buds - find out more here!
If you want to grow crystal-covered, potent weed - this week's PotCast is for you!
While cloning marijuana plants will never replace seeds, it is a great way to boost your yields. By growing cloned cuttings alongside your seed-grown weed plants, you can have extra buds of your favorite strain ready to be harvested around the same time as the rest of your crops.
In this week's PotCast, the first thing we are going to talk about is how to clone cannabis. The word cloning often conveys some sense of science fiction, a far-off, wild idea that can only be accomplished by a select few. However, cloning cannabis is something that anyone can do and we will show you how!
After cloning, we will look at another way of supplementing your yields come harvest time by using the technique known as Monster Cropping. A great thing about Monster Cropping is that you can do it multiple times to increase yields. As the name suggests, it is a form of cropping, however, it is somewhat different from standard cropping and super cropping and this PotCast will show you what it is and how to do it!
It goes without saying that breeding your own cannabis is pretty difficult. The product of attempting to cross 2 strains is dependant upon a pretty large number of variables.
The best way to start breeding cannabis is to grow plants from genetically stable, high-quality seeds bought from trusted and reliable seed banks, such as Homegrown Cannabis Co.
After all, you don't have any hope of breeding strong marijuana seeds with desirable genetics if you don't have a stable mother plant.
In this week's PotCast we will look at cannabis breeding in general before getting into the specifics of breeding feminized seeds, breeding autoflower seeds, and more!
In this week's PotCast Kronic and Nate Hammer sit down for a chat with the legend himself, Kyle Kushman! Any Homegrowers will know how big a part of our brand Kyle Kushman is, and he's finally here on the podcast for a conversation with another cultivation expert in Kronic and he's brought his apprentice, Nate, with him.
Kyle Kushman has nearly three decades of experience cultivating cannabis and he still remains as sharp as the tools he uses to supercrop his plants with constant innovations and educational content which pushes cannabis cultivation forward into new territory.
If you ever wanted to know how cannabis master Kyle Kushman deals with every single grow stage, here is the place to find out. This episode is an indispensable resource for growers as it's the first time ever that Kyle Kushman has explained his entire growing process in such a manner.
You can't train autos?
What do you mean 'you can't train autos'?
Of course, you can train autoflowers just as much as any other type of cannabis plant, and, in this week's PotCast episode, we will show you how!
Autoflowers receive a lot of largely unfounded criticism in the cannabis world, that they produce poor yields, that they will hermaphrodite, that they produce poor quality buds, and so on and so forth. We're here to tell you that by using the correct methods you will not encounter any of these problems. We have discussed myths surrounding autoflowers in general in the past, however, today we are going to focus on training autoflowers as a way of essentially creating the perfect cannabis plant.
It's commonly assumed that under any stress, autos will buckle or turn hermie, and while this can be the case, providing you adapt your training methods to your plant's needs and accept that they're somewhat different from photoperiod strains, you will surely be successful!
Join us as we break down how to train autoflowers, what problems you may encounter, the best training methods to use, and more!
Whether you're growing Sativa or Indica, autoflower or photoperiod, you will need to trim the leaves on your plant. While leaves definitely serve a purpose to the cannabis plant, they can also cover potential budding sites and prevent them from receiving the optimum amount of light.
But, cannabis plants are sensitive, so don't go in blind when trimming! Make sure you trim correctly so that you don't negatively impact the plant.
Trim and prune your marijuana plants correctly to maintain a nice, tidy and productive grow room!
To celebrate the start of grow season as well as the launch of Homegrown Diaries, this week's episode will detail 4 amazing techniques to boost cannabis yields.
We will discuss topping, supercropping, SCROGging, and Kushman Chiropractics.
Check it out!
Whether you're a beginner grower or this is even your first time growing cannabis, there's no reason why you can't grow cannabis like a pro.
In this week's PotCast we will go through some top tips and tricks to help new growers aim for the top. Whether it's mistakes and mishaps to avoid or techniques to produce higher or better or quality yields we've got you covered.
We believe that everyone should have the right to grow their own cannabis and to that end, we don't only want to provide high-quality cannabis seeds, we also look to educate cannabis cultivators. Beginners make mistakes, even some experienced growers make mistakes or experience unfortunate accidents. We like to share information as much as possible, we made mistakes so you don't have to!
Even though this episode is geared more towards beginners, there is information in here to benefit growers of every level!
Among newer growers, autoflowers are all the rage. However, some older growers are still skeptical of growing with autoflowering seeds as they act somewhat differently from the classic photoperiods.
For one, autoflowers generally grow smaller, which leads some growers to consider them less productive and with smaller yields. While to some extent this is true, you can still get phenomenal yields from autoflowers and many growers swear by them as their go-to seeds.
find out how to get the most from your autos here!
The second part of this week's PotCast will address a problem that many fear when growing autoflowers, that being the chance of autoflowers turning hermaphrodite. Thankfully, our PotCast host Kronic is something of an expert on autos so listen up as he explains how to avoid hermaphrodite plants in this week's PotCast.
NPK represents Nitrogen, Phosphorus, and Potassium; three macronutrients that are essential for any cannabis grow. Without these nutrients, your plants will really struggle. If you have NPK deficiencies, then it is extremely important to solve these and amend your nutrients as quickly as possible to prevent any serious harm to your plants.
Find out a few ways to remedy these problems in this week's PotCast.
That's not all we're going to look at though, in the second portion of this episode we will look at another common deficiency, this one being Cal-Mag deficiency. This refers to a mix of both calcium deficiency and magnesium deficiency.
If you want to learn how to solve any common nutrient deficiency, then this week's PotCast is for you!
These are two problems you may encounter when growing cannabis indoors. If you set up your grow room to have the correct climate then the chances of you encountering either problem is less likely. That being said, either problem can affect any cannabis grow and it doesn't take much for heat stress or light stress to become a nuisance
When it comes to heat stress, cannabis will show the bulk of its symptoms relatively early and the easiest way to tell if your plants are heat-stressed is by checking the leaves as they may curl or wilt or in some cases have brown edges.
Light stress cannabis plants will display similar symptoms to heat stress in the sense that the leaves will be the most obviously affected areas. The leaves may begin to lose some of their green colors and appear lighter in color.
Find out how to treat and prevent both of these growing pains in this week's PotCast.
Hydroponics is fast becoming a favorite medium for cannabis growers everywhere! While soil is still very much at the forefront of the industry for Homegrowers, increased availability and accessibility to hydroponics kits and nutrients has seen a substantial increase in the number of people using this system at home.
In the first section of this week's PotCast we will give an overview of using cannabis hydroponics systems. We will look at setting up your hydroponics system - everything from what you need to buy, how much it will cost, and how you actually set one up. From here we will also look at some of the benefits of using hydroponics for cannabis, some of the different hydroponic systems, and also maintenance of your hydroponics system.
Next, we will look at a more specific form of hydroponics, Deep Water Culture (DWC) which is arguably the most popular form of hydroponics among cannabis growers and gardeners in general. DWC is arguably the easiest hydroponic system to use and provides a lot of benefits. If you're thinking about moving from soil to hydro, then DWC is definitely the place to start!
Bud rot is a serious issue when it comes to the latter stages of growing marijuana. Bud rot develops from necroted biomass growing spores that eventually become viable and develop a mold that rots away the plant.
This can happen from insects like caterpillars that eat away the insides of the stems or the insides of the bud. This type of bud rot is generally outdoor cultivation issue only, as most indoor growers aren’t going to have caterpillars in their grow room.
Find out the causes of bud rot indoors and how to deal with it by listening to the PotCast!
Fungus is something that no grower wants to deal with, whether it’s powdery mildew, fungus gnats, an actual fungus like botrytis which a lot of growers actually call bud rot. So for those that don’t know botrytis is generally the spore or fungus that rots your plant away to a brown almost grey-like color.
Are you experiencing either of these problems with your plants? We got you covered!
At the end of your cannabis plants' grow cycle, it comes time to reap the rewards of all the hard work you've put in by finally harvest those delicious buds. Join PotCast host Kronic as he gives his amazing insight into how to effectively harvest your cannabis to get the best results. While it is one of the final stages of growing cannabis, how you harvest marijuana is still extremely important, learn how to achieve optimum results right here!
After harvesting comes drying and curing, this is the final stage before consuming your buds. Again, this is something you must get right if you want to be able to consume the best possible weed. How long should you dry and cure? Where should you dry and cure? What should you or shouldn't you do? Find out the answers to all these questions and more on this week's Homegrown PotCast!
This week's episode of the Homegrown PotCast is all about the grow room, not so much about what happens in the grow room but how to stop unwanted attention or even visitors.
In the first part, we will look at securing the grow room to keep it safe. There are many reasons to keep your grow room secure and it just makes sense in general for you to ensure your grow room is not easily accessible by anyone who you don't want in there. Whether you are scared of people stealing your equipment or crops, perhaps even pets or children stumbling upon it by mistake or even general pests and nuisances.
The second part of this week's PotCast follows the same theme as the first and it's all about masking the odor of the grow room. If you're growing weed at home, whether you're trying to be stealthy and super-secretive or not, the last thing you want is for the smell of your crops to escape the confines of the grow room and spread throughout the house or, god forbid, beyond. Find out the best techniques for ensuring the smell of your cannabis plants does not spread too far.
Happy New Year Homgrowers!
For the first PotCast of 2021, we present to you some great ideas and suggestions for your future cannabis growing in the year to come.
First off we will look at the best new strains for you all to try out this year! Homegrown Cannabis Co. has a whole range of new strains for sale, exclusive to Homegrown and available to buy now. We have handpicked cultivars by Steve DeAngelo, Kyle Kushman and Nikki & Swami, so now everyone has the chance to sample the genetics of these legends!
In the second portion of the PotCast we will look at a plethora of grow techniques to try out alongside your new seeds! We aren't just looking at the well-known techniques this time, Kronic is going to evaluate and recommend some lesser-known growing techniques for all levels.
This week's PotCast is a growing technique special!
We are going to compare different techniques, split into two separate parts. Each part will explore two different techniques which act as counterparts to each other.
First off, we are comparing Sea of Green (SOG) with Screen of Green (SCROG) - these are two techniques that help to maximize both the space you are growing in and also the potential yields that come from your plants. Both techniques are all about cramming as many plants as possible into your grow space.
With SOG, you group plants together tightly which helps them to form a canopy, or sea, of green leaves to help trap light and boost budding. SCROG is similar, only this time you have to place your plants within a screen to bunch them all together. They both serve a similar purpose, but which is better?
Then, in the second part, we are looking at two training techniques that stress out your plants and force them to be more productive. That's right, we are looking at Low-Stress Training (LST) and High-Stress Training (HST) - both of these techniques involve bending the plant's branches to expose more of the stems to light, which in turn allows them to develop more bud sites.
LST is obviously the less rigorous of the two methods and HST can be quite scary if you have never used it before, many growers fear they may snap the branches and harm their plants. Today we are going to look at the risks and rewards of both and determine which is better for your plants!
So, this week's PotCast episode focuses on two different topics that are very similar in a way but serve different functions. That being said, while the functions of flushing and watering are different, they are somewhat two sides of the same coin.
First up, we are looking at flushing, while in the actual cannabis growth cycle, flushing would come after watering, on our PotCast we are looking at flushing first as perhaps this one is less obvious and a bit trickier than watering. Flushing is the process of purging your soil of whatever nutrients are in it with pH adjusted water. In hydroponic or soilless mediums, it is just a case of changing your reservoirs twice or three times per day. That being said, does flushing actually benefit your plants? Do I need to flush my cannabis plants? Listen and find out.
Next up is watering, in this section we will talk you through watering your marijuana plants throughout every stage of the grow cycle. This means we are looking at how frequently you need to water your plants in the seedling, vegging, and flowering stage as well as what kind of nutrients to amend your water with and more! This is not one to be missed Homegrowers!
The Homegrown PotCast returns this week with an in-depth look at two great cannabis cultivation topics.
First up is a look at transplanting your cannabis plants, more specifically, how you avoid the common pitfalls which can harm some growers plants. Transplanting is the process whereby growers move their young, seedling cannabis plants into bigger pots to further facilitate their growth. This is an essential, early step in the growth cycle of cannabis plants.
Next up is a look at what it's like to grow cannabis from a clone as opposed to from seed. Most growers tend to grow their cannabis plants from seeds, it's more natural and generally allows you to do more and have more control over your plants growth from start to finish. That being said, growing from clones is pretty popular at present, but is it worth it? Listen and find out!
Choosing the best grow lights is one of the most important first steps for any cannabis cultivator. All cannabis plants will need lights to grow. Lights allow plants to perform photosynthesis and therefore feed themselves and grow.
But, what are the most common types of grow lights used by cannabis cultivators? Luckily for you, we have broken it down into two parts, as we do every PotCast, to compare the three primary types of grow lights - MH, HP, and LED.
First up, Kronic compares MH and HPS grow lights. MH lights, otherwise known as Metal Halide lights are pretty common as are High-Pressure Sodium lights, but which one is better? Largely this depends on a number of factors and either may be preferred by different people. Much of this comes down to the price, how much electricity they consume, and their efficiency as well as what they provide for your plants.
Then, in the second half of the PotCast, Kronic looks at HPS in comparison with LEDs or Light Emitting Diodes. LEDs are fast becoming a favorite for many growers; find out why this is and how they compare to HPS lights in this week's PotCast!
One of the key components to successful indoor cannabis grow is ensuring that the environment in which you grow is as beneficial to your plants as possible. There are certain factors that you must monitor to make sure your cannabis plants don't suffer as a result. Not only does creating the perfect indoor growing environment allow you to fend off disease but it also helps your plants reach their optimum potential.
If you're wondering how exactly you do this, then this is the right PotCast for you! Listen up as Kronic explains how to get the most out of your indoor grow setup!
But, that's not all we've got for this week! Kronic follows on from his discussion of perfect indoor growing climates with a segment on controlling humidity in the grow room. This is arguably one of the trickiest things to control and maintain but luckily your favorite PotCast host Kronic is here to lend a hand!
We all know CBD, there is very little a person can do to escape this cannabinoid. Nowadays, CBD is everywhere, in cosmetic products, commercial vape liquids, medicine, and even actual weed.
This abundance of CBD products has led to the market becoming somewhat oversaturated which may lead people to believe CBD is simply a trend as opposed to a substance of serious medical benefit. However, this is not the case, in this PotCast your favorite host Kronic will investigate the medical potential of CBD, looking at the effects it has on the body and how it can be used to the best possible result.
In the second portion, we will look at the new cannabinoid on the block, CBG.
CBG is becoming more and more popular as alternative medicine and if recent trends are anything to go by, CBG could be vying to take CBD's throne.
In fact, we have started stocking more and more high CBG strains to grow which are part of our Wellness category. If you choose to buy and grow any of these seeds, you may want to extract the CBG directly instead of consuming the bud as it is. By extracting CBG you can then use it to create tinctures, infusions, oils, and much more.
This can be a tricky process but luckily Kronic is here to help you out.
Having a cannabis plant turn into a hermaphrodite can be bad, really bad - a hermaphrodite plant is basically a female cannabis plant that begins to develop male traits, for example, pollen. A hermaphrodite cannabis plant can completely ruin your crops by accidentally pollinating your female plants which renders them unable to develop flowers.
Lucky for you, in this week's PotCast episode we will be looking at some of the causes of hermaphrodite marijuana plants and also give you advice on everything you can do to prevent this from happening.
But that's not all, while we're on the topic of hermaphrodites we will also check out how you can differentiate between true hermaphrodite cannabis plants and nanners.
Nanners is a bizarre occurrence during the flowering period which causes your plant 'bananas' which are male pollen sacs embedded within the buds. They will soon start to pollinate the flowers, therefore they are also very dangerous to your crops.
If all this sounds like a cannabis cultivator's worst nightmare, then why not listen to this PotCast? We will give you everything you need to combat and prevent this from happening.
It is our great pleasure to present to you: Homegrown Veterans Association (HVA) in partnership with Veterans Cannabis Coalition (VCC) - Homegrown Cannabis Co. is committed to providing veterans with the resources they need to grow their own cannabis for both medicinal and recreational purposes.
This Veterans Day (11/11/2020), for every 10 CBD White Widow Auto, Haze Auto, or Amnesia Lemon Feminized seeds purchased, Homegrown Cannabis Co. will be donating 1 seed to VCC to help provide veterans with the resources they need to grow cannabis and make their lives easier.
To celebrate the launch of this exciting new partnership, we have an interview with Eric Goepel, the founder, and CEO of Veterans Cannabis Coalition, who graciously sat down for a chat with Nate Hammer to discuss everything from his background in the military, the way veterans are treated after being discharged, his first experiences with cannabis and what he hopes to achieve by partnering with Homegrown!
After serving 7 years in the military, doing numerous tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, Eric Goepel returned home at the age of 25. Like many veterans, Eric suffered from a multitude of ailments commonly associated with PTSD; nightmares, and trouble sleeping being chief among them. After a few months of being home, Eric tried cannabis for the first time and found that it helped him relieve his PTSD and relax. Not content with simply providing himself respite, Eric began to get involved in legislation and fighting for the rights of veterans in Washington. With a particular focus on veterans' rights to medicinal cannabis, Eric Goepel found Veterans Cannabis Coalition alongside fellow Iraq War veteran Bill Ferguson.
Homegrown Cannabis Co. is extremely proud of this partnership and we are looking forward to helping out veterans in any way we can. Look out for more content from VCC members, affiliates, and veterans in the future.
As I'm sure most are aware, when it comes to cannabis plants, like many living things, they can be male or female. However, the sex of cannabis plants greatly impacts the outcome of your grow. You may have noticed how many cannabis cultivators refer to their plants as 'girls' - this is because anyone growing cannabis for consumption will solely grow female plants as feminized cannabis plants are the only ones that produce buds. Male plants are useless and can actually be detrimental if you're looking to solely grow for consumption, however, they are useful when it comes to breeding or producing seeds.
But how can you tell if your cannabis plants are male or female? Let's hear what Kronic has to say!
In the second part of this PotCast, Kronic turns his gaze to cannabis leaves. Apart from their iconic look and de-fact position as an international cannabis symbol, cannabis leaves are an extremely important component to the overall growth and survival of your plants. They absorb water, nutrients, and play a key role in photosynthesis.
Growing cannabis indoors is the most popular way to grow. Not all growers are blessed to live in areas where the climate is perfect for growing cannabis, in fact many growers aren't fortunate enough to live in areas where the climate is in any way suitable for cannabis growing. With this in mind, it makes sense that cannabis growing indoors would be the most popular way to go.
Luckily, your favorite PotCast host Kronic is a master when it comes to growing cannabis indoors and therefore is more than willing to drop some knowledge on 2 key factors to consider when growing indoors.
The first topic this week is how long it takes to grow cannabis indoors. The answer is not so simple, however. The time it takes varies depending on a number of factors, the first and perhaps the most important being the strain you have chosen to grow. Then you should also consider the amount you're growing, the yields you want, and so on. Also, your grow space and equipment are all factors to consider.
Then, to go alongside how long it takes, Kronic offers some tips on maximizing the potential of your grow. In this segment, he covers how to get the best quality cannabis, how to get the best yields, how to efficiently use your grow space and more!
Thanks for tuning in to another episode of the Homegrown PotCast!
The first portion of this PotCast focuses on a very important topic that is overlooked far too often, that being how to store marijuana seeds. Kronic discusses the best way to store marijuana seeds and how to preserve marijuana seeds so that you can keep them for as long as possible without germinating them.
How long do cannabis seeds last? This really depends on the method you use for storing cannabis seeds, if you follow Kronic's guidelines we're sure you'll be able to extend your marijuana seed shelf life for many months, even years after you originally bought them.
For further guidance on how to store weed seeds, head over to our website and check out our article and accompanying video guide!
The final half of this week's PotCast looks at all the elements required for a cannabis plant to thrive and grow to its full potential. Going through all the equipment you'll need, nutrients, space and much more - Kronic really provides a great roadmap for those looking to get the best out of their cannabis seeds!
This week's PotCast presents an all-new format with two topics, meaning double the discussion topics for even more education.
First up is a look at the 10 Biggest Mistakes New Growers Make - find out what errors novice growers make and how to avoid these mistakes. There are many mistakes made by new growers that may seem minor but can have catastrophic ramifications later in the grow cycle. Don't fret, those mistakes can be easily avoided, listen to Kronic explain how!
The second subject is a deep dive into the topic of Fast Version cannabis seeds - one of the more mysterious categories of marijuana seeds, a photoperiod but with speedy growth similar to an autoflower. With Fast Version seeds being relatively new on the market, there isn't a whole lot of information readily available, so hit play and get an exclusive scoop on all things Fast Version!
Maintaining the correct pH level is extremely important when growing marijuana. Cannabis pH levels naturally fluctuate if not monitored and controlled correctly. This is due to a number of factors, many of which Kronic discusses in this week's PotCast - alongside ways growers can manage and maintain the optimal pH balance throughout their grow cycle.

PAR! What is PAR? PAR stands for Photosynthetically Active Radiation. Now, what is that exactly? PAR is the exact spectrum of wavelengths found in light that enables Photosynthesis. Without light, plants would have a harder time producing photosynthesis which is necessary in order for them to grow. Photosynthesis is a process used by plants, algae, and certain bacteria to use the energy provided by the sun to turn it into chemical energy. In order to discuss PAR, we're going to break down the two types of Photosynthesis as well as the spectrum of waves this process falls under.
The spectrum of wavelengths is 400 -700 nanometers, now Infrared and Ultraviolet do fall above and below this spectrum however, they both hold beneficial properties for plants and many grow lights will have Infrared or Ultraviolet within their diodes. The two types of Photosynthesis are Oxygenic and Anoxygenic Photosynthesis.
Growing cannabis can be a difficult thing to start - through all the mistakes you may make, all the problems you may face, and all the lessons you will learn, it is the passion for growing that keeps cultivators going.
In this PotCast episode, Kronic discusses the passion that drives him and keeps him cultivating cannabis. With all of his knowledge and expertise, it's easy to forget that Kronic is still a relatively new grower. That being said, he has put in years of research that has prepared him for life as a cannabis cultivator.
Join our host Kronic as he talks about his experiences and the joys he gets from growing as well as the unnecessary criticism some novice growers receive on forums and social media groups. We should empower others and help others grow cannabis, growing is a passion and a love to be shared!
Kronic is back with an interview this week. Kronic speaks to fellow new grower and loyal homegrown customer Mary Jane about her experiences as a first-time grower.
With this being her first time growing cannabis, Mary Jane talks about the problems she has encountered and also how she has tackled and solved said problems. She goes into detail about the different techniques she has used to optimize her grow and get the best possible results.
All the seeds mentioned by Mary Jane are available on our store so if you hear her talk about something you like the sound of then why not head on over to our site and check them out yourself!
Autoflowering cannabis seeds are becoming increasingly popular among modern marijuana grower, and it just so happens that our resident PotCast host is somewhat of an expert on these non-photoperiod cannabis strains.
As the name suggests, autoflower seeds are cannabis seeds that reach the flowering stage automatically, regardless of light cycles. Autoflower cannabis plants do require light, however, there is a lot of evidence to suggest that they don't require sleep time. Meaning they could actually survive with 24 hours of light if that is what you wished.
Having a fair bit of experience growing autoflowers, Kronic looks to breakdown some of the things he has learned and offers tips to help growers who are new to autoflowers or are having problems growing them. Furthermore, there is a lot of incorrect information out there on autoflowering seeds and Kronic makes it his mission with this PotCast to differentiate between fact and fiction.
When it comes to producing that sweet, psychoactive THC then you must look no further than those fine crystals on your cannabis plants; trichomes!
Trichomes are the tiny little white hairs you will find all over your cannabis plants - on the buds, stems, roots, and leaves they are very small but in large quantities are easily noticeable. Trichomes store the THC and CBD - you will be able to notice which ones store this as they will be significantly bigger and more bulbous and will be found on the buds of your cannabis plants. Trichomes at the root of the cannabis plants are used to absorb nutrients, minerals, and water and they are very small, microscopic trichomes.
The endocannabinoid system manages and controls some of the human body's key biological functions such as mood, fertility, pain, memory and appetite, the last one being something all smokers should know all about. When humans ingest cannabinoids, they act somewhat like keys, unlocking the body's receptors and allowing for certain elements of perception and feeling to be altered. THC and CBD are perhaps the two most famous cannabinoids, they are compounds found in cannabis.
Starting out growing cannabis is arguably the most difficult stage relative to growing experience. Everyone remembers their first grow for a number of reasons, perhaps the excitement of starting to grow your own marijuana whether for recreational or medical use but also the fear, chiefly the fear of messing up and risking wasting your time and money.
A solid foundation is crucial to any grow, and the first step is buying your equipment. It is important that you take into account the space in which you are growing when buying equipment as this will dictate the size of the items you are buying and also the quantities. So, if you're buying a grow tent then ensure that it is able to fit into the space you have designated for your grow. Or if you're buying lights or fans, then ensure that you have all the correct sockets and outputs to supply your growing equipment with all the juice it needs.
Also, thinking about the nutrients that your plants will need throughout the different stages of the growth cycle allows you to plan ahead. A lot of soils come with pre-mixed nutrients that provide your plants with basic nutrients needed for the early stages.
On top of all of this, be mindful of your budget, look for areas where you can save so that you have more income to invest in areas where you require something a bit more expensive. Overall, ensure that you are not breaking the bank and that your marijuana grow remains affordable so that you can sustain it.
There are a lot of different marijuana training techniques to help growers boost their cannabis plant's harvests and subsequent yields. Some training techniques are a little bit more difficult to employ than others, it is important that you do not accidentally harm your cannabis plant too seriously when trying out training techniques.
For example, low-stress training (LST) is one of the most common methods of cannabis plant training which involves physically spreading your plant's stems and branches horizontally to expose a larger surface area to the light.
High-stress training (HST) is a similar technique to LST, however, this one is a bit more difficult as it requires that you physically harm your plant by bending and, in some cases, snapping the branches so that they lay as close to flat on the ground. HST serves a similar purpose to LST but it is a bit more extreme. HST requires a certain amount of effort to get right, however, growers will see a substantial increase in their yields as a result.
There are a whole bunch of other marijuana training techniques, Kronic outlines a number of them here in great detail, however, if you are yearning for more information then head over to Homegrown Cannabis Co.'s blog for further educational cultivation content.
Cultivating your own cannabis is extremely rewarding, not only does it allow you to have financial freedom in terms of the cannabis you consume but the task itself is also very mentally rewarding.
Figuring out the best microbes for cannabis can be tricky, differentiating between good and bad bacteria for marijuana plants can be particularly difficult for novice growers sometimes, luckily for you Kronic is here to help show you the way!
But microbes aren't the only thing that impacts the cannabis grow cycle. Kronic isn't just stopping with bacteria, he's also giving a crash course on cannabis nutrients, suggesting what nutrients you will need to use for the different marijuana plant growing stages. Kronic offers a great selection of products you can buy to ensure you don't run into any problems with cannabis nutrient deficiency.
