No one likes falling short of number one. “If you ain’t first, you’re last” is a Ricky Bobby quote that will live forever. We aren’t sure that this quote is accurate for the music business. The Billboard 100 has a 99 other places you can be and you’re just fine. On this episode, we celebrate the 80s and look at some of the guitar driven rock hits during the decade. Being #1 is important in life. It defines you as a winner. Although, there were rock/hard rock bands that reached #1 on the Billboard 100 in the 80s, many were ballads. On this episode, we explore all the 80s songs (that we consider guitar driven rock, which at times is not easy to disseminate), that charted on the Hot 100 but failed to reach #1…..and as you probably guessed, our opinions vary on several of the choices.
