In this episode of Guerrilla History, we bring on Rev Left Radio fan favorite Professor Alexander Aviña to talk about Latin America in the Cold War period. While we in the global north tend to think of the Cold War period as being typified by tensions in Eastern Europe, Latin America was the playground for much of the US's conflicts of the era.
Alexander Aviña is historian at Arizona State University, and is author of the book Specters of Revolution: Peasant Guerrilla in the Cold War Mexican Countryside (Oxford University Press, 2014, https://alexanderavina.com/specters-of-revolution/ ). He has also had articles published in places like NACLA Report of the Americas and the Journal of Iberian and Latin America Research, and has made numerous interview appearances, including several episodes of Revolutionary Left Radio.
