Bonus Episode: Devin Townsend

Welcome to this weeks episode of Heavy Metal History. My guest this week is Devin Townsend, currently spearheading back into his solo work, but he is also known for his work in bands such as Strapping Young Lad, Ziltoid the Omniscient, and Devin Townsend Project . Devin was gracious enough to give me a short amount of his time to talk about his upcoming album “Empath” that will be released March 29th. We discussed working with all the guest artists he chose including Beneath the Massacre’s Elliot Desagnes. Devin touches on all the emotional aspects that went into making Empath and the almost cathartic sense instilling all his influences and styles into one cohesive record, to which Devin says that its from a place of “mid life crisis” And finally we touch on his writing style for the record including the 23 minute long closer “Singularity”
