In this episode of pine|copper|lime Miranda speaks with Amy Jane van den Bergh, Cloudia Hartwig, and Allison Klein also know as the Printing Girls, a female print collective based in South Africa. We here at PCL have been wanting to get to chat with the print scene in Africa since pretty much day one and Amy Jane, Cloudia, and Allison were incredibly generous and delightful guests. They share with us the history of political activism and screen printing in South Africa, the benefits of creating in female centered spaces, the tongue in cheek usage of “girls” in their name, their current exhibition of work created during South Africa’s extensive and long-running COVID lockdown, and the ins and outs of their collective.
