We’re introduced to Asriel’s fortress and meet Lord Roke, a Gallivespian spy, who tells Asriel how important Lyra is. Baruch is able to deliver the messages to Asriel before he passes away. Asriel sends out zeppelins and asks his alethiometrist to locate Lyra. In the dreamscape Lyra and Roger continue their conversation.

Will finally meets his dad (AKA Jopari) only for him to be almost immediately murdered by a witch. He meets some angels who say they will guide him on his mission to give the knife to Asriel, but when he goes back to get Lyra, but she isn’t there.
