Case Background:

Madeline Soto was a 13-year-old girl living in Kissimmee, Florida. She was initially reported missing on February 26, 2024, after her mom, Jennifer Soto, went to pick her up from school and Madeline was nowhere to be found.

At the time, Jennifer Soto told police that Madeline was dropped off across the street from her school in a church parking lot by her mom's long-time/live-in boyfriend, Stephan Sterns. Stephan Sterns said he watched Madeline walk from the church parking lot towards the school but didn't watch Madeline walk all the way to see that she made it in.

A massive 4-day search effort by multiple law enforcement agencies to find Madeline quickly ensued.

In the immediate aftermath of her disappearance, investigators turned their attention to Stephan Sterns. Law enforcement found several disturbing pictures and videos on his phone of Madeline. He was later arrested on 60 charges, including capital sexual battery, lewd or lascivious molestation, and unlawful possession of materials depicting sexual performance by a child.

Tragically, on March 1, 2024, Madeline was found deceased near a wooded area on Hickory Tree Rd. in Osceola County. This is the same area where Stephan Sterns's car was reported as being seen on the day Madeline went missing.

Through several press conferences and news statements, law enforcement has stated that they believe that Madeline was already dead the morning she disappeared and that Stephan Sterns was actually moving her body at the time he was supposed to take her to school.

Police also revealed that security footage shows Stephan Sterns dumping Madeline's backpack and her school laptop in an apartment complex dumpster at 7:35 am that morning. Additionally, police have video footage of Stephan Sterns returning to the dumpster, with what appears to be Madeline visibly deceased in the car.

In April of 2024, Stephan Sterns was indicted on first-degree murder by a grand jury. On June 10, 2024, prosecutors announced that they will be seeking the death penalty against Stephan Sterns for Madeline's murder.

After an evening of drinking with close friends at Rand Hooper's parents' home, Rand and his best friend, Graham McCormick, took Rand’s boat out for a night drive. This was the last time Graham would be seen alive. The following day, nobody knew where Graham was.

After a search ensued, Graham's body was discovered in Carter Creek, 2 miles from Rand Hooper's parents' home. The medical examiner determined that Graham died from drowning, with blunt-force trauma contributing to his death.

Initially, Rand mentioned nothing about being on a boat with Graham the night before. Instead, he said that he, Graham, and other friends spent the night drinking and playing cards before going to bed.

However, as the investigation revealed more details, including that the boat crashed while Rand was driving, Rand was later charged with felony murder and other serious charges.

Case Background:

Madeline Soto was a 13-year-old girl living in Kissimmee, Florida. She was initially reported missing on February 26, 2024, after her mom, Jennifer Soto, went to pick her up from school and Madeline was nowhere to be found.

At the time, Jennifer Soto told police that Madeline was dropped off across the street from her school in a church parking lot by her mom's long-time/live-in boyfriend, Stephan Sterns. Stephan Sterns said he watched Madeline walk from the church parking lot towards the school but didn't watch Madeline walk all the way to see that she made it in.

A massive 4-day search effort by multiple law enforcement agencies to find Madeline quickly ensued.

In the immediate aftermath of her disappearance, investigators turned their attention to Stephan Sterns. Law enforcement found several disturbing pictures and videos on his phone of Madeline. He was later arrested on 60 charges, including capital sexual battery, lewd or lascivious molestation, and unlawful possession of materials depicting sexual performance by a child.

Tragically, on March 1, 2024, Madeline was found deceased near a wooded area on Hickory Tree Rd. in Osceola County. This is the same area where Stephan Sterns's car was reported as being seen on the day Madeline went missing.

Through several press conferences and news statements, law enforcement has stated that they believe that Madeline was already dead the morning she disappeared and that Stephan Sterns was actually moving her body at the time he was supposed to take her to school.

Police also revealed that security footage shows Stephan Sterns dumping Madeline's backpack and her school laptop in an apartment complex dumpster at 7:35 am that morning. Additionally, police have video footage of Stephan Sterns returning to the dumpster, with what appears to be Madeline visibly deceased in the car.

In April of 2024, Stephan Sterns was indicted on first-degree murder by a grand jury. On June 10, 2024, prosecutors announced that they will be seeking the death penalty against Stephan Sterns for Madeline's murder.

Erin Patterson, an Australian woman, has pleaded not guilty to charges of murdering three members of her ex-husband's family and five charges of attempted murder.

Jeff German, an investigative reporter for the Las Vegas Review-Journal, was deeply dedicated to his work—a commitment that might have ultimately cost him his life. Jeff was a well-known figure in the community, celebrated for his fearless coverage of notorious mobsters, corrupt politicians, and criminals. In September 2022, he was fatally stabbed by an attacker outside his residence. Prosecutors allege that Robert Telles, a local politician, is responsible and was later charged with Jeff's murder. As of the recording of this episode, his trial is currently ongoing.

Timothy Haslett Jr. was first arrested in October of 2022 after a woman, identified only by her initials in docs as TJ, saved her life by escaping out of what was essentially a homemade torture chamber, where she had been held captive. Fast forward to July of 2024, Timothy Haslett was charged with the murder of Jaynie Crosdale. The judge dismissed Alec Baldwin’s involuntary manslaughter case on the 4th day of trial. Judge Mary Marlowe Sommer sided with Baldwin’s lawyers, who argued that prosecutors did not turn over evidence to the defense, and instead, actively tried to bury it.

Recorded June 23, 2024. Rex Heuermann has been charged with additional murders and a shocking arrest affidavit shows how the alleged serial killer plotted and planned. Heuermann was arrested in July, 2023. He was a married family man and architect working in New York City and at the time of this episode he was charged with the murders of 24-year-old Melissa Barthelemy, 22-year-old Megan Waterman and 27 year-old Amber Costello.

Case Background:

Madeline Soto was a 13-year-old girl living in Kissimmee, Florida. She was initially reported missing on February 26, 2024, after her mom, Jennifer Soto, went to pick her up from school, and Madeline was nowhere to be found.

At the time, Jennifer Soto told police that Madeline was dropped off across the street from her school in a church parking lot by her mom's long-time/live-in boyfriend, Stephan Sterns. Stephan Sterns said he watched Madeline walk from the church parking lot towards the school but didn't watch Madeline walk all the way to see that she made it in.

A massive 4-day search effort by multiple law enforcement agencies to find Madeline quickly ensued.

In the immediate aftermath of her disappearance, investigators turned their attention to Stephan Sterns. Law enforcement found several disturbing pictures and videos on his phone of Madeline. He was later arrested on 60 charges, including capital sexual battery, lewd or lascivious molestation, and unlawful possession of materials depicting sexual performance by a child.

Tragically, on March 1, 2024, Madeline was found deceased near a wooded area on Hickory Tree Rd. in Osceola County. This is the same area where Stephan Sterns's car was reported as being seen on the day Madeline went missing.

Through several press conferences and news statements, law enforcement has stated that they believe that Madeline was already dead the morning she disappeared and that Stephan Sterns was actually moving her body at the time he was supposed to take her to school.

Police also revealed that security footage shows Stephan Sterns dumping Madeline's backpack and her school laptop in an apartment complex dumpster at 7:35 am that morning. Additionally, police have video footage of Stephan Sterns returning to the dumpster, with what appears to be Madeline visibly deceased in the car.

In April of 2024, Stephan Sterns was indicted on first-degree murder by a grand jury. He is now being held without bail at Osceola County Jail. On June 10, 2024, prosecutors announced that they will be seeking the death penalty against Stephan Sterns for Madeline's murder.

Arley Naomi Proctor-Hernandez was taken to a church on September 24, 2021. Her grandfather was pastor at the small California church, and family members met to assist in an exorcism.

Her mom believed she was possessed. The probable cause is difficult to read, and the determined cause of death is asphyxiation. 

The week before Arley's mother, Claudia Hernandez-Santos, was arrested, Claudia started a YouTube channel and spoke to her viewers. It's chilling to listen. 

The trio of family members stand before a judge this week in San Jose California, and according to reporters in the court room, Claudia swiveled in a chair and occasionally yawned while listening to Police testimony. 

This episode was recorded just after the arrests were made in January 2022, and was only available on Patreon until today.

Returning home to California from Mexico - Matthew Coleman is taken into custody and confesses to killing his two young children with a spearfishing gun. According to the probable cause, Coleman had been following conspiracy theories online and believed his wife had passed her serpent DNA onto their children, which would mean his son and daugther would grow up to become monsters, and Coleman had to kill them in order to save the world.

This episode was originally recorded in the summer of 2022 - a year after Matthew Coleman confessed to killing his children. Currently, Matthew is being held in an undisclosed federal location for treatment after being deemed incompetent to stand trial in October 2023. 

Matthew had a competency hearing scheduled for March 8th, 2024 but it never happened and we still wait. Hidden True Crime is following closely.

For today's episode we are traveling back to August of 2021. Its an episode we've never shared publicly, until now.

One week before we recorded this conversation at our kitchen table - on August 8th, 2021 - Matthew Coleman, a 40-year-old Santa Barbara California surf teacher, killed his two young children with a spear fishing gun in Mexico.

His wife Abby reported that Matthew had taken their children from their California home and left suddenly. He was taken into custody and confessed to killing 2-year-old Kaleo and 10-month old Roxy . According to the probable cause--Coleman believed Abby had passed serpent DNA to their children. . Matthew said he knew what he did was wrong, but he was saving the world.

This podcast was originally recorded on August 21, 2023, the day former British neonatal nurse Lucy Letby was sentenced in the UK to a whole life-order.

34-year-old Letby murdered seven infants at Countess of Chester Hospital, and attempted to murder six others between June 2015 and June 2016. She was charged in November 2020, and her trial lasted from October 2022 to August 2023. 

Letby's methods included injecting the infants insulin or air, overfeeding them, and physically abusing them using medical tools. In January 2024 an application to appeal her conviction was refused, but she still faces a retrial on one of the counts coming up in June 2024 on the one charge where the jury was unable to reach a verdict during the original trial.

On December 6, 2023, a mass shooting occurred at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). Three people were killed, and three additional people were wounded. Two of the wounded were police officers. The perpetrator was killed in a shootout with police.

In high school he graduated valedictorian from a large public high school in Chicago where he was chosen to participate in a ground-breaking valedictory study that continues to this day.

Dr. Matthias has been an adjunct assistant professor in the University of Nevada Las Vegas clinical psychology doctoral program since 2007. He supervises UNLV doctoral students on forensic assessments, clinical case formulation, and various therapeutic approaches to clinical work.

July 31, 2023 - Fremont County Courthouse. Lori Vallow Daybell is sentenced by Judge Boyce for murdering of her two children--16-year-old Tylee Ryan and 7-year-old JJ Vallow. She is sentenced for conspiring to kill 49-year-old Tammy Daybell, as well as two counts of insurance fraud, and one count of grand theft.
