We will see the superpowers of the 18th century locked in a battle to establish global pre-eminence at the careless expense of precious life. The American theatre of the Seven Years' War is called the French and Indian War. It will quite literally be a battle for North America. And ironically the fires of war will be set ablaze by a young, naive, and ambitious man, George Washington.

One of the most famous and controversial moments of the battle was “Pickett’s Charge,” a failed Confederate direct assault against the Union battlefront that has since become a symbol of gallant bravery and terrible sacrifice. Even today, 160 years later, the grim details of that terrible feat still echo across the empty fields where that final, brutal charge took place, and where so many desperate Confederate soldiers faultlessly obeyed their orders to march into the fire.

As war breaks out in Europe so too does war break out in North America. But unlike king William’s war, this war is not solely focused on New England and Acadia. The American colonies are not only warring with France, but they are also warring with Spain. But just like king William’s war, the Europeans will arm their native allies, and there will be raids and battles from the South in Spanish Florida to the north in Acadia.

The Enlightenment paved the way for the American Revolution. It showed the American Colonists that they have natural rights that cannot be trampled by a tyrannical King. But American Independence could never have been possible without the Great Awakening.
