Prepare yourself for bloat and bombast because we're discussing Joel Schumacher's 2004 adaptation of Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera for its 20th anniversary! Adding insult to injury is the perplexing decision to cast non-singer Gerard Butler as the Phantom, who makes some questionable decisions regarding the villain's characterization.

From electrified telephones to mysterious rooms without trap doors, there's just too much crammed into this film's extremely brief 69-minute runtime for it to make any kind of sense.

A contemporary trans take on Doctor Jekyll and Mr. Hyde featuring Suzy Izzard?! We were so psyched for this one, but alas, Trace doesn't recommend and Joe is only a soft recommend.

Despite strong performances, writer Dan Kelly-Mulhern doesn't do anything with the material, which results in a film that's just kinda boring.

This 67 minute black and white, nearly dialogue-free film is a wild and intense experience. It's also surprisingly queer! From a sexually dissatisfied hetero couple to men checking each other out during sex to M/M assimilation to jizzy fluids, it's not a reach to say the salary man and the metal fetishist are into each other.

And that's without even getting into the metal dick drill of it all!

Put on your best fedora and pull that cat out of the dryer because we're discussing Christian E. Christiansen's teeny-bopper ripoff of Single White Female, The Roommate (2011)! Tagging in for the conversation is one of the film's superfans: Ali Chappell.

Join us as we try (TRY) to figure out who thought this movie was a good idea, because nearly nothing in this shameless ripoff works. From it's incredibly stupid lead character to its complete lack of tension, it's a real misfire. God bless Leighton Meester, though, who at least tries to do something with a nothing role.

Ultimately, The Roommate feels more like a business decision than an artistic one, which is a bummer given the cast that its working with. But hey, we've still got a semi-decent shower scene and a semi-thrilling climactic battle so....there's that?
