She may be best known for her gnome shop on Etsy, but she is a full-time maker and has been sewing for more than 30 years! Her whimsical, but practical items caught Leslie's eye and her love for teaching caught Ro's. She runs her business full time with her husband, Mike. They have 3 boys and live in Minnesota, where the summers are wonderful and the winters are long! She learned to sew in high school and has loved it ever since.  She is now enjoying the opportunity to connect with crafters all over the world through her teaching platform. Unfortunately, Rochelle's father, Richard passed on December 17th so she has taken some time to grieve privately before discussing.

Gigi has a new grandGIRL! Landyn Stone (Cherry) was born July 31st and they are all super excited to welcome her into the family. Leslie is also in the middle of construction zone. Leslie experiences some family losses and Rochelle talks through the stages of grief. This episode is dedicated to the memory of Leslie's cousin, Tom Patterson and my niece's mother, Amber Pelt. May both of their memories be for a blessing.

Leslie and Rochelle talk about... Leslie is going to be starting Fat Quarter Shop's Bountiful quilt as their charity quilt for 2023 for Make a Wish. Leslie has recovered from the flu and coughing is at bay, so back on track! Rochelle issues her first apology of the year to one of our quilty friends... find out why! Leslie and Rochelle are preparing for Quilt Retreat coming up in Quitman, Texas. Leslie hasn't even started packing, which is very unlike her, but she talks about some ideas of what else to take other than the single quilt she has prepared to bring. Hand work is always a good idea!

Rochelle comes up with a new idea for wringing fabric out after starching. Leslie has been spraying with a powered sprayer in her shower, but Rochelle has been dunking and wringing with a new, fancy hand wringer (see link below).

The girls get together for a weekend of sewing fun! They all started out with a brunch at Leslie’s and then off to "Quiltopia MidTown" for the rest of the weekend. Leslie’s Breakfast Casserole 

• 13x9 inch pan, grease the bottom with Pam
• Layer 1 bag of frozen hash browns on the bottom
• Cook meat of choice (I use sausage) and let it cool a bit
• Mix 12 eggs with 1 cup of milk and then add 1 cup of cheddar cheese
• Mix in 2 tsp of each: salt, dill, dry mustard, and minced onion
• Mix in 1 tsp of each: pepper and cayenne pepper
• Mix well then add cooled meat to mixture
• Pour over hash browns
• Cover top with 1 more cup of cheese and refrigerate overnight
• Cook at 350 degrees uncovered for 1 - 1 1/2 hours until top is brown and the edges are bubbling.

Century Quilter’s Etiquette - 

1. Botox is drug of choice
2. Always wear a string of pearls because you’ll feel pretty (they don’t have to be real)
3. Underwear is optional, but an apron is necessary
4. Snacks are a must (peanut M&Ms, hot tamales, sour patch kids, toasted cheez-its, Nutella, popcorn, chocolate covered caramels, Waterloo, sweet tea and prosecco are our favorites!)
5. Must wear quilter’s t-shirts (short sleeves and long sleeves to cover all seasons)
6. For a 3-day retreat, no showers allowed. More than 3 days, showers are allowed.
7. You can sew with dirty dishes in sink, laundry that is needing to be done, unmade bed and layers of dust. Doing those things will stunt your creativity.

Covid strikes! Leslie goes 2 years without it and then BAM! Covid. So pardon the scratchy voice this time!
