Well, here we are. After 5 years, 44 episodes and thousands of minutes spent talking about this movie... We've reached the final scene of James Cameron's TITANIC.
What a journey it's been. In this "finale" episode, we discuss the epically beautiful theatrical curtain call (plus the wacky alternate ending) and feature a collection of emails and voicemails from some of our lovely listeners!
Thank you all so much for your passion and support over the years. It's been a blast... but it's not over yet! The end credits episode is up next!

Part one of our "two-part finale" is here! Can you believe it?! WE CAN'T!
In this episode we talk all about the extended Carpathia sequence, lots of deleted dialogue, final payoffs, and peel back the layers of a couple key moments.
We also feature four voicemails from listeners and want to say a huge thank you to them for sending them in! If you'd like your voice to be heard, you still have time to submit a voice recording for the final scene and our "end credits" episode! :)
As always, thank you all so much for listening.

We reunite with Titanic cast member, first class woman Alexandra Boyd, to discuss such an imperative scene in the movie as Rose begins to live out her promise to Jack.
Alexandra shares some behind the scenes tidbits with us, as well as some unique perspectives on the scene as a filmmaker herself! Big thanks to her for guesting again!

While waiting for help to arrive, Rose makes a promise to Jack that she will carry with her for the rest of her life. Later, Officer Lowe returns in lifeboat 14 to a very grim sight.
For this scene we brought back our pal Liz Osban to discuss yet another massively important one!

We've reached the scene that birthed possibly the most notorious "debate" in cinematic history. In our opinion, of course, there's not much of a debate here. Listen as we address (and squash) multiple arguments people have made over the last 26 years!
We also read a listener email, go over a few historical beats and discuss some deleted scenes!

Here we go.
We've brought on another special guest to discuss what many consider to be the main event here. Fellow Titanic obsessive Pablo O'Hana joins us for a breakdown of "Death of Titanic - Part 2." We had a great time chatting about such an impactful scene. In fact, this scene was the entry point of Pablo's Titanic origin story! He tells us all about that and provides such great commentary!
Thanks for coming on the pod, Pablo!

The first episode of the new year is here! Happy 2024! We hope you all had a lovely holiday season! And now... We begin the final stretch of new episodes.
For this scene, we chat with Adam Stolfo. A fellow Titanic fan, lover of film, and podcaster among many other things. We discuss one of his favorite scenes, the first part of the death of Titanic. Some talking points include: interesting musical cues and sound design, character motivations, some great (and dodgy) CGI, and of course... the infamous Propeller Guy.

Some technical difficulties, a few scheduling conflicts and two sicknesses later... We bring you Scene 33!
In this episode we discuss the scene that truly kicks off the last 5 minutes (in-universe time) of Titanic's tragic sinking. We cover: Captain Smith's final scene, Fabrizo's death (and deleted/alternate death!!!), the flooding of the grand staircase, promotion of Titanic in the 90s, a dumb internet joke... and more!

In this episode we cover Cal's slimy but successful attempt at getting on a lifeboat, and Mr. Andrews' & Captain Smith's final moments... among other things!
Note: The "Approach To the New World" painting by Norman Wilkinson was actually in the first class smoking room on the Olympic! It was featured in A Night To Remember because there was no available print of "Plymouth Harbour" at the time. A full-size reproduction was eventually made, and this is the version we see in James Cameron's Titanic!
A bit of a short episode this week, but we hope it suffices! Our next one features another awesome guest! Excited to share it with you all.

In this episode we discuss some technical goofs, share a hilarious scene-relevant meme, address the "JACK!" and "ROSE!" of it all, and discover a poetic revelation or two. As we officially cross over to the second VHS tape, we discuss what is essentially the beginning of the end. This episode covers more class differences, a few payoffs, some potentially unnecessary added drama, and the moment Mr. Andrews tells us Titanic's fate.

LOL, byeeeee!
We brought Liz back to discuss her favorite scene (Jack & Rose running away from Lovejoy) while Ethan was recovering from the flu. This scene also includes an interesting conversation between Captain Smith and Officer Lightoller. We discuss a buuuunch of things here like how nice it is to be reminded that people actually had fun in the early 1900s, Titanic's continued popularity among young people, deleted scenes... and we somehow manage to get slightly morbid... again. We can't help it. We also take a moment to celebrate the one-year anniversary of this podcast! Yay! Thanks so much for listening.
