In Acts 28, Pastor Josh McPherson reminds us that following Jesus is a call to a Kingdom-minded life, marked by a consuming passion for God’s mission. This life often involves a paradoxical blend of suffering and joy, as well as experiencing victory through apparent setbacks. The Christian journey can be likened to a train moving forward on parallel tracks of blessing and hardship. When our plans unravel and confusion takes over, we are encouraged to ask, "What’s next?", instead of, “Why me?”, to see every crisis as an opportunity, and to hold onto the truths revealed to us in times of clarity. We must resist compromise, choose integrity, and remain steadfast, understanding that every trial is a chance to persevere and grow.

In this sermon, Pastor Josh McPherson discusses the story of Paul in Acts chapter 23 and highlights three things to remember about God in a negative world reality. The first point is that the plot of the enemy only serves to propel the purposes of God. Pastor Josh emphasizes that even in the face of opposition and attacks, God is sovereign and in control. The second point is that evil men, godless men, and secular infrastructures can be used by God to fund and facilitate His kingdom work. Pastor Josh uses the example of Paul being protected by Roman soldiers and being provided for by the Roman government while in prison. The third point is that in the midst of negative circumstances, we should stay alert, open, sharp, and ready to say yes to God. Pastor Josh encourages pastors and leaders to not be discouraged by the increasing hostility towards Christianity and to continue faithfully preaching the truth.

In this video, we dive deep into the foundation of Paul's dissidence as outlined in the Acts of the Apostles, exploring the intricate balance between divine law and civil obedience. Paul's teachings provide a robust framework for understanding our responsibilities as believers in both the heavenly and earthly realms.
1. Holy Jurisdiction: We begin by acknowledging that God has established a specific domain of governance, setting the stage for a discussion on divine versus human authority.
2. Holy Limitations: The video examines the clear boundaries within which this divine jurisdiction operates—punishing evil, rewarding good, and protecting citizens, highlighting the role of government as both a friend to the righteous and an adversary to wrongdoers.
3. Holy Submission: Submission to authority emerges as a recurring theme throughout scripture, serving as a foundation for order, blessing, unity, and human flourishing.
4. Holy Responsibility: We explore the dual aspects of responsibility, addressing those in authority as well as those under authority.
5. Holy Accountability: The discussion shifts to the accountability of governments that act unrighteously, emphasizing the fear that should be instilled in them, as warned by Paul.
6. Holy Foundations: This section delves into the moral and natural laws that underpin and support civil law, establishing a higher standard of justice and righteousness.
7. Holy Dissidence: We then tackle the concept of legitimate versus illegitimate government, focusing on the conditions under which dissidence becomes a necessary response to authority that contradicts God's Law.
8. Higher Allegiance: The video clarifies the nature of our allegiance, asserting that our primary loyalty is to God, even when it means opposing earthly powers.
9. Greater Good: Finally, we discuss the role of the Church in advocating for righteousness, emphasizing the collective benefit of speaking up against injustice and the consequences of silence.

You may have heard that the people of Grace City have raised $15.5 million to launch a school in town, plant a church in GA, and add more space for our preschool and other children’s ministries. It’s true. It’s incredible!! And it’s unexpected. We learn over and over that even our wildest dreams and most audacious goals are too small for the Lord when He moves. We’re rejoicing in what the Lord has done. It is good and right to take time to talk about it, look back at the river we crossed, point at the stones we stacked, and tell the story…so none of us miss it.

Mission happens not in spite of the mess, but in the middle of the mess. Whether you've been a Christian for many years, or you are a brand new believer, you know that mission is messy. In Acts 18:1-17 we see the real-life mess that Paul was in - traveling, marriages, political persecution, racial tensions, relocation, loss, new friends, starting over, housing, schools, hard work, business partnership, planning, marketing, budgets, coordinated attacks, increased resistance, courts, lawsuits, false charges, reputation and character assassination... All this while sowing seeds for a spiritual harvest. So what's Paul trying to tell us? - Saying yes to God in the mess is what turns the mess into mission and the Kingdom of God steadily advances through a series of decisive victories cleverly disguised as defeats.

When It comes to our children, the question is simple: will we surrender the future or secure it? While the world goes off the rails calling all that is good evil, and all that is evil good...God's people are steadily preparing to do whatever it takes to stand for truth and contend for the faith. Through sustained obedience to a Kingdom vision we will strive for generational legacy. By God's grace, we will Be Fruitful.

BIBLICAL GENEROSITY IS... celebrated in the Church ...the overflow of grace ...not circumstantial ...personal & proportionate ...sacrificial & faith-filled ...voluntary ...get to, not got to ...worship ...to be pursued ...a love barometer ...how we follow Jesus' example ...planned for & followed thru on ...about the heart, not the number ...an expression of our interdependence ...requires good systems ...shared for encouragement ...planned in advance, pledged in faith, finished by grace ...tied to your reward ...between you and God ...about being conduits, not buckets ...uses wealth to increase standard of giving ...spreads to others.

Psalm 24 is a powerful song of praise to the Lord of Creation and the King of Glory. It begins with the sweeping perspective of the opening verses, "The earth is the Lord's and everything in it," and leads us to contemplate the holiness of God, asking, "Who may stand in his holy place?" In this psalm, we encounter profound truths about the one who has clean hands and a pure heart, paving the way for a generation that seeks God and longs for the triumphant King of Glory to dwell among us. It raises the question: How can sinful humans ascend the hill of the Lord and be welcomed into His presence? Pastor Adam unpacks Psalm 24 in a way that stirs the hearts of those who desire to know this King of Glory.

The trademark of faith is to stand on the brink of agony and laugh. The Bible really has no category for pessimistic Christians. Bartimaeus was a nobody. A blind beggar. But Jesus passed by, heard him cry out, and stopped. Jesus saw him, called him, loved him and healed him. In this sermon Pastor Adam unpacks Jesus’ healing of blind Bartimaeus in Mark chapter 10. Where do you find your sense of significance? The world, and even the disciples, often desire to be seen by others, but Bartimaeus simply wanted to see and be seen by Jesus. He cried out in humble faith, believing Jesus was the Messiah, the “Son of David,” and it changed everything. Be encouraged, Jesus still passes by, still hears, still stops, and still saves!

There is a LOT happening in Chapter 14. The Apostle Paul & Barnabas are on the road and preaching powerfully & effectively so that many believe. Paul & Barnabas even have to correct a crowd who tries to designate them as gods when they witness Paul heal a lame man. But as Pastor Josh points out - whenever there is a mighty work of God, the enemy attacks. From unholy alliances to mobs who thought they had stoned Paul to death, to getting right back onto the preaching field, Chapter 14 is a great reminder that in this life we will have trouble, but we who believe can take heart because Jesus has overcome the world.

Easter 2023 was historic at Grace City. On a weekend in which we ribbon-cut our new Atrium and baptized more people than we did in all of 2022, Pastor Josh brought a prophetic word for our troubled culture from the obscure book of Ezekiel.
In a vivid vision of the state of Israel, God leads His prophet Ezekiel to a desolate valley full of human dry bones. This is Israel. She has lost her national identity and abandoned faith in God. She is mired in corruption, sexual perversion, & moral decadence. Her soul is dead.
Looking out over so much death and carnage, God asks the central question of humanity, ”Can these dry bones live?”
The answer changes everything.
God moved powerfully in the hearts of all who heard His answer thunder from Heaven on Easter Sunday, 2023, and we pray He would do the same for you as you listen to this sermon and hear Heaven’s Prophet, the risen Christ, declare over your life, ”Dry bones…Live!”
Jesus Is Revival.

God wants you to have a critical mind, not a critical spirit. Unfortunately, “Christian discernment bloggers” is code word for Jerk, and criticizing the church has become a budding cottage industry. Pick on a church and you’re sure to gain a following.
But the spirit of the critic originated from the first Critic, Satan himself, and when we become critical, we pull hell up into our relationships. In this sermon Pastor Josh unpacks the difference between the spirit of the critic, the work of the prophetic, and how to cultivate discernment without becoming a life-sucking critic to yourself and relationships around you.

From HR departments across the land to school administrations and legislation, the unholy trinity of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion has become the doctrinal backbone of the new state religion of wokeism—the secular orthodoxy that cannot be questioned or challenged.

The most compelling apologetic for Jesus is not a well-turned phrase but a radically changed life. In Week 18 of our Book of Acts series, Pastor Josh McPherson guides us through the process God uses to sanctifies saints as demonstrated in the story of Saul of Tarsus becoming the Apostle Paul. Before God knocked him off his horse he was a well-off, gritty, genius, workhorse, who was a single, religious, zealous, wrong man who God radically redeemed and transformed by the power of the Holy Spirit through one simple act of obedience at a time.

There is no shortage of strange practices in relationship to supernatural healing throughout the Church. Magic, mail-order healing oils from Jerusalem and “healing preachers” on TV have muddied the already confusing waters and made it appear to the casual observer that it’s all quite absurd.

God is big and we are small. It’s all about Him and it’s not about us. He’s the One on center stage. He’s the One worthy of the spotlight. He’s the One orchestrating the story of redemption. He’s working all things and overseeing all things according to His ultimate purposes. Nothing and no one can stop God from being God. Nothing and no one can stop God from fulfilling His promises. At the end of the day, we want to clearly proclaim our faith in the Lord to sovereignly bring about His good plans and purposes, in His timing, through His people. As the traditional doxology of the Lord’s Prayer states, let us be careful to give all glory and all honor to God alone. We exist by Him and for Him. In the end, we know that Jesus wins. As we near the end of this reflection on the Lord’s Prayer, we return to the theme of faith-filled worship, focusing on WHO OUR GOD IS and ALL HE HAS DONE, IS DOING, AND WILL DO. God is absolutely Sovereign, altogether Good, All-Powerful, abundantly Gracious, and Glorious beyond all comparison. He who was and is and is to come…to Him be all glory, honor, power, and dominion now and forever. Amen!

Satan is real. Demons are real. No, they are not behind every bush, but they would love nothing more than to derail the mission, leaders, and people of the Church. Like a hungry lion looking for someone to devour, the devil would enjoy eating you for lunch. He wants to destroy your faith, your marriage, your children, your hope, your integrity, your witness, and ultimately your soul. Do not be deceived. Spiritual attack and spiritual warfare are REAL. The Christian life = WAR. Period. We are on the offense. We do not want to give our adversary, the devil, an ounce more or less of the attention than God’s Word calls us to give. We are not to be ignorant or unaware of his schemes. We are to pray for God’s divine protection, leadership, and deliverance from temptation and evil. We have the armor of God, mighty weapons for warfare, the ability to resist and rebuke the enemy, the triumph of the Cross to daily remember, and the confidence of victory past, present, and future as we worship the Victorious Serpent-Crusher, King Jesus! Let us humbly—yet boldly—ask for God’s protection, and live lives of vigilance as we fight the good fight of faith!

A distinguishing mark of Christianity is FORGIVENESS. Not only do we accept the radical gift of God’s forgiveness in and through Christ, we also extend the radical gift of forgiveness to others, especially those who have sinned against us. One of the signs of the Spirit’s work among us will be our relational health and unity. This isn’t possible without forgiveness. Let us be slow to anger and quick to forgive. Let us be quick to ask for forgiveness and gracious to grant it. Do not give place to bitterness or harbor hidden sin in your life. Let us confess our sins to God and each other. Let us get in right relationship with God and each other that we might tell the truth to the watching world about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. What sin(s) do you need to confess? Who do you need to seek forgiveness from? Who do you need to forgive? Let’s keep short accounts, friends, not long lists of records of wrongs. Let’s walk in integrity with God and in humility and unity with one another. Take whatever steps necessary TODAY to walk in forgiveness.

“Give us this day our daily bread.” Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good! He Himself is our daily Bread. The Bread of Life has come down to give life to the world. Do you daily hunger for this Bread? Do you seek it and secure it with a heart of faith and gratitude? Our spiritual satisfaction and sustenance are even more crucial than our physical life. Man does not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God. So seek Him today for the daily Bread of Life that you need. And then trust Him to graciously provide for your physical well-being, as well. Let’s be clear—at the heart of prayer is “asking.” God is the giver; we are the receivers. God is glorified when we make much of Him by expressing His worth and fullness through our asking. Jesus commanded us to “ask,” to “seek,” to “knock,” and to keep on asking, seeking, and knocking. So be bold in this season of prayer to ASK! Do you have a physical or financial need? Present your request to God. Take a moment to consider God’s provision in your life. The clothes you are wearing, the food you will eat today, the transportation you use, the house you rest in, the bed you sleep in. Acknowledge these good gifts today and give thanks to the One who sustains you day by day!

The central request of the Lord’s Prayer, which brings every other blessing with it, is the request for the Kingdom of God to come and
the Lord’s will to be done on Earth as it is in Heaven. The blessing of the rule and reign of God over His people and into the world brings life to the fullest! Every revival and renewal in history is preceded and marked by intensifying Kingdom-centered prayer. There is nothing better than life in the Kingdom and no agenda better than the Lord’s will. Every other will and agenda disappoints, disillusions, and destroys. God’s King and Kingdom alone has authority to set captives free and usher in the blessings of salvation and restoration. Jesus came preaching, “The Kingdom of God is at hand.” May we have eyes to see it and welcome it where we are! Your Kingdom come!

Week one of the Kingdom Come sermon series - The highest and greatest truth that we can know and experience is to be called a son or daughter of God. Of all the blessings bestowed upon us through the Gospel, none is greater than our adoption. Knowing God as your Father is a game-changer. Some people struggle with the concept of relating to God as Father because of the broken or painful relationship they have with their earthly father. Rather, He is the perfection of everything a good father is and should be. Regardless of what kind of father you've had, the good news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ is that you get a better Father. The perfect Father. And He loves you. In Christ, He's chosen you and adopted you as His own. And if God is for us, who can be against us? If God is our Father, who or what could we have to fear?

“Lord, teach us to pray.” This is itself a great prayer. It’s also the request of the disciples that prompted Jesus’s teaching on the Lord’s Prayer in Luke 11. No matter where you are as a follower of Jesus in your understanding or practice of prayer, this sermon aims to awaken a fresh desire in your own heart to join in the disciples prayer, “Lord, teach us to pray!”

How do you live as an authentic, healthy Christian & Church, specifically in a culture where:
- the media & government are dishonest and it’s hard to know who to trust for reliable information
- there are rising levels of crime, riots, tensions, brutality, & lawlessness
- people are unwilling to work and yet given to overeating
- society/culture is confused about gender and antagonistic to God’s design
- many religious leaders and “churches” lack integrity and are blurring the lines with false teaching and empty ritualism
- many claim to be “Christians” but deny truth in their beliefs and lack the life-changing power of godliness in their actions

In 4 short verses Jesus makes a stunning declaration, and in so doing gives us a road map for how to understand the Bible we read. Is it myth? Fairy tale? Fable? Folklore? History? Allegory? Moral tales? Many attack the Bible’s credibility with “gotcha” verses pointing out apparent contradictions, which only reveals a naivety and ignorance in failing to read the Bible on its own terms. The fundamental key to understanding the Bible is simply this: that the Bible is NOT a recorded history of man’s understanding of God. But if not that, then what is it? First Sunday of the new year. The year that kicks off a new decade. A decade full of unknowns. And the question arises...what will the next 10 years hold? What direction will my life take? What kind of person will I become? How can I chart a course for a life that matters?
That’s the topic Pastor Josh tackles in kicking off this 5-week series. Listen in as he shares funny stories and wild adventures that led to 3 key life lessons he learned while trying to survive the mountain bike trails of the Wenatchee valley with his son Levi this last summer.
