Live Your Best Life with Liz Wright
“Healing is an inside job.” - Dr. Johnnett Thatcher
We were designed to live in optimal health from the inside out! God has created us to walk in perfect health in our minds, our bodies, and our spirits, and the little steps that we take towards Him and the practices outlined in the Word move us closer to that being realized. In this episode, Liz connects with Dr. Johnnett Thatcher, Chiropractor and Wellness Practitioner. Johnnett shares about how our thought life impacts our overall well being, the physical restoration found in spending time with Jesus, and how we can practically live in divine health.
In Johnnett’s practice, there are five fundamental pillars of wellness: first, that health comes from the inside and pours out of us, second, that movement and stillness are vital practices, third, that breathwork is a tool to promote purity and peace throughout the body, fourth, that we must fuel mechanisms in our lives, and fifth, that we need to find ways to rewind and reboot our days, and even reset rhythms if necessary. The truth is, much of what happens within our body is driven by our thought lives, promoting cycles of life or death within us. Over time, and under periods of long-term stress, our bodies live in inflammation and imbalance, but walking in the love, joy, and peace that God has for you will interrupt that cycle and change the cascade of chemicals that move within us. This is the biochemistry of spending time with God.
Practically speaking, the wisest thing we can do is to intentionally encourage ourselves towards spending time with Jesus. From there, we must choose movement and stillness, which are key to overall health. Additionally, we benefit from disconnecting from stimulation and noise, and reflecting with thankfulness on our days and on what God has ahead of us in the following day. Lastly, joy is an important tool for healing, wholeness, and living out the life God has designed for us. In closing, Johnnett releases a prayer for each of us to receive divine health to know God’s voice echoing the keys and practices we are meant to implement in our lives as we become testimonies of the faithfulness of God to us—in mind, in body, and in spirit.
