Lord of Adders Black: A Blackadder Podcast
Episode 18: Ointment!
Welcome to the Lord of Adders Black fan podcast, where Michael and Ian explore the universe of cult sitcom Blackadder while diving off at the occasional gleeful tangent.
Continuing our new Major Star segment, we shine a spotlight on Nursie, played by the late Patsy Byrne as a “sad, insane old woman with an udder fixation”. We take a look back at the busy career on stage and screen that was Patsy’s bread and butter before her, ahem, udderworldly performance in Blackadder II made her a household name.
Our special guest this time around, Mike Haskins, has also had a busy career in comedy, writing for the likes of Griff Rhys Jones and Hale & Pace. Following a lively chat about the highs and lows of this career – which we will be releasing in full as a bonus episode in due course – Mike gives us a comedy writer’s insight into what makes Blackadder such a memorable and influential creation.
