People who call the Tau "space communists" are either totally ignorant, or they're deliberately playing into the somewhat racist stereotypes of Asian people that the Tau embody. Don't do that. But also have fun.

In the ages of Old Terra, spanning millennia since the darkness of the Age of Strife, the Emperor reigns from His once-glorious throne amidst the shattered remnants of a once-vast world. He commands not just the fealty of countless souls through the ancient rites of techno-barbarism, but also the allegiance of myriad clans and city-states that sprawl across the ravaged continents. His dominion extends over a world scarred by the horrors of nuclear cataclysm and the ceaseless wars that followed.
Yet, even in His embattled state, the Emperor maintains His vigilance. His enigmatic powers pierce through the shifting tempests of the Ether, guiding the warp-tinged fleets that navigate the treacherous expanses between terrestrial domains. Armies march in His name across the ruins of forgotten civilizations, defending against the myriad threats that beset His realm. Foremost among His champions are the techno-barbarian lords, augmented with ancient sciences and clad in armor forged from the bones of extinct titans. Their ranks are bolstered by devoted adherents: the warrior tribes of the steppes, the iron-forged legions of the smiths, and the secretive cabals that wield the forbidden sorceries of the Ancients.
To be a leader in these tumultuous times is to command amidst untold tribulations. It is to govern amidst the harsh and blood-soaked customs of a world in constant strife. These are the chronicles of an epoch forged in the fires of an abandoned age. Remember not the allure of lost technologies and arcane sciences, for they are now naught but myth. Forsake the aspirations of progress and enlightenment, for in the grim and savage history of Old Terra, there exists only the ceaseless clash of arms. Amidst the echoing void, there is no respite, only an eternity of conflict and the whispered machinations of the undying spirits.

Asked for more than any other episode ever, the Space Wolves are a Chapter that loves wolves. They love wolves almost more than they love killing Inquisitors and other Space Marines. And if that weren't enough to pump you up for this episode, their Rune Priests definitely aren't psykers. Lorehammer loves the Space Wolves more than Space Wolves love wolves... this episode gets dangerous...

You feel the cold metal jack insert into your brain. A shock travels through your body as you welcome back your other half. A surge of impatience rushes through you, and it takes all your focus to calm him. The beast that you now inhabit shivers in anticipation, desperate to visit carnage upon your enemies. Your moorings are released, and with a resounding boom you take your first step. Death incarnate. Honor materialized. You and your Knight rush headlong into the fray, dismantling your opponents one stomp at a time, allowing your battlecannon to roar your praises across the battle, filling the air with the sound of your holy destruction.
This episode is all about Imperial Knights! Mark finally decided to grace your ears with an awesome and amazing story that only Knights can bring. From their inception, to their inner workings, we take you through the entire journey. Joining us today is James.

It’s December! And that means Listener Lores!!! WOOO! As the galaxy slowly gets smaller for the Tau, their need for haste to spread the Greater Good only intensifies. With the time between the Spheres shrinking between every Expansion, they are now more than ever driven by a need to have others support their philosophy; to aid them in it’s spread. Desiring to push beyond their Empire’s confines during the 4th Sphere, they invited disaster upon themselves, only compounded by their need to lie and spread propaganda. And in their ignorance of the galaxy they live in, their 5th Sphere has only been met by more soul crushing conflict.
Join us, and Rio, as we dive into the Tau’s 4th and 5th Spheres.
“Concerning Squats. We are rather peculiar creatures, content more with our own affairs of mining and trading agreements than the state of the Imperium and the galaxy as a whole. We are stalwart drinking companions, true warriors, and you’ll never find a better or stronger friend than a Squat. While our current predicament is a shame, with the right encouragement and direction, we may yet see a resurgence of the Squat race in our galaxy.” - Ancestor Lord Bilboa, 245.M36
This episode is all about Squats! Join us, along with Paul and Chris (for the last time), as we navigate this race of abhumans.

Previously released on the Let's Talk Lorehammer podcast, this episode was a meeting of brilliant minds including Mark, Erik, Matt and Bob. Our discord server has undertaken a massive project this past year in its attempt to recreate our version of the Necromunda world and book, which we dubbed the Necrommunity. In this episode we work together to build a hive city from the ground up, thinking and imagining every possible facet of a hive city.
The audio was recorded remotely, and therefore is not the usual quality of Lorehammer. We thank you for your understanding!
If you would like to be involved with the Necrommunity, please join our discord server! We look forward to seeing your contributions.
Well this episode slipped through the cracks! Recorded a while ago, it seems that we failed to upload it! Enjoy this Listener Lore which includes submissions from McWeeklys and their Iron Marines, Isaac and the Death Songs Chapter, and finally Luke and another story about the Iron Skulls! If you have your own stories you’d like to submit, please send them to [email protected].
The Aeldari have stood on the precipice of obliteration for thousands of years. As millennia pass, so too does the brilliancy that once covered the entirety of the galaxy. Doomed to extinction since their Fall some 15 thousand years ago, they have desperately held on to life for as long as possible, clawing at the skeins of fate, grasping for a future. And finally, that new future has come. Ynnead, the God of Death. Its awakening breathed new life into a race beaten down and tread upon. Its chosen priestess, Yvrainne, binds together the Aeldari, convincing them to abandon old tradition, to shake off their depression, to embrace a new path. She will usher in the destruction of the Great Enemy, She Who Thirsts. And through this, guarantee the survival of her race.
In this episode, we cover all things Ynnari! This relatively new faction is ready to fit right into the grim dark reality that is Warhammer 40,000. Joining us for this episode are James and Brant.
Welcome to a brand new kind of bonus episode! After many long years of ridiculing and poking fun at all of your submitted lore, of criticizing sans critiquing, we have taken it upon ourselves to create a confusing mess of an episode to help you do that! We sit down with Chris for his last episode to discuss the nuances and considerations to ponder as you attempt to write your homemade loyalist Astartes Chapter. If you would like access to our document to use for your own creation, or to join in our discussion of what could or should be considered, please join our discord! We look forward to seeing you there!
*WARNING* - drug use is explicitly discussed during this episode. User discretion is HIGHLY advised.
This very well may be the most requested episode in the history of Lorehammer. Mark and Erik sit down with Dylan and Rio, eat some weeds and drink some drugs. We also talk some 40k stuff... when we can. We hope you guys enjoy this as much as we did recording it!
Pulled from the depths of the Lorehammer Vault, we have three new listener submitted stories for you! Prepare yourself for Tyme's Inquisitorial drama, Isaac's Desert Fury Astartes Chapter, and Dylan's fateful end to some poor humans...
If you have a story you want to share, send it to [email protected].

Excellence. Discipline. Obedience. These three words capture the essence of the Tempestus Scions. If the Imperial Guard are the hammer and the wave, then the Militarum Tempestus is the knife and the poison. These elite troops are trained (read: indoctrinated) from as young as 6, placed into Ecclesiarchal run orphanages to be educated (read: brainwashed) on all the most important of duties (read: complete and absolute loyalty).
This episode dives into the life of the Tempestus Scion. Where do they come from? How are they created? What do they do?
Joining us for this episode are Logan and Zac!
Savageness to make other Astartes uneasy. A fleet to make any space farer jealous. And enough secrecy to convince any Inquisitor of wrongdoing. The Carcharodon Astra operate in a class all their own. They circle above, watching and waiting for the opportunity to unleash their heavenly rage upon the enemies of the Emperor. Fiercely loyal, and utterly opposed to any that aren’t, they are proficient Space Marine killers. As promised, so we have delivered!
Joining us on this episode are Peter, and for the last time, Christian.
THIS EPISODE CONTAINS SPOILERS.
In this raw and intimate exposé, Colyn from Cold Open Stories popped by the studio to walk us through three of his more recently released audio dramas. We heavily discuss Colyn’s creative process, as well as the history and the future of Cold Open Stories. The three audio dramas we focused on were; “However Small, However Hidden”, “Hounds of Bedlam”, and “Agtril, the Counterfeit Blade”.
By the time you’re finished with this episode, you should already be queuing up some stories from Cold Open Stories. You can find them on Spotify! But just in case you’re having trouble finding them, here's a link to the website. https://www.coldopenstories.com/
Some Chapters have a history that is detailed through the millennia with glories won, battles fought, and brothers lost. Others keep their histories a secret from prying eyes. Still others have no history to be shared at all. The Minotaurs Chapter has been an enigma since its inception, and those that attempt to uncover its secrets are met with sealed entries and misinformation.
They are often seen as little more than beasts in bronzed armor, willing to rip out the throat of their brothers once the order is given. They are set apart from the Astartes, partly their own choice, and partly because many refuse to work with them. In this episode we dive into this mysterious Chapter with all the gusto and aplomb that you can expect from the Lorehammer team!
Joining us on this episode are Dylan, and for the last time Chris.
Those that walk the highest path, have the furthest to fall. This is true of the XVIth Legion, whose fate was sealed on the day that Horus was named Warmaster. Though their reputation and combat record far exceeded any other Legion during the Great Crusade, it was their pride and hubris that made them perfect targets for the corruption of Chaos.
Now they blaze a path of destruction across the galaxy, forged with fire and death. Their plans are laid, their will is set. They are the Black Legion, and their Gods will have their due.
Join us as we dissect the Black Legion in all it’s foul glory. Joining us on this episode for the last time, is Christian.
Extra! Extra! Read all about it! Well... listen to us read... ok fine listen to us ATTEMPT to read...
For this Listener Lore we exploited - uh I mean we read Andrew's 7th Elysian Drop Troop Regiment "The Magnificent Seventh", Betus' 144th Korellian "Curb Stompers", and Jeremy's Ghost Wolves Space Marine Chapter!

Without a doubt one of our favorite episode styles, the Bestiary and Herbarium series focuses on the huge variety of creatures and plants that inhabit the Warhammer 40,000 galaxy. In this specific episode we combed through three White Dwarf publications, issues 291, 292, and 313, in order to bring the galaxy to life! Get prepared to hear about some crazy animals, and some even crazier plants! It truly is a grimdark galaxy out there...
Joining us for this episode is part of the OG Lorehammer gang, Jordan!
Within a few short centuries, the Tyranid race has spread across the galaxy like an infectious disease. It’s tendrils have stretched to the far reaches of the Milky Way, consuming planets and armies at a terrifying rate. Their numbers are limitless, their endurance is inexhaustible. And yet they continue to grow, change, adapt, and overcome. There are several unique and special Tyranids that completely upend any strategic analysis of the race. These unique evolutions range from infiltrators, capable of complex species and social analysis, to creatures that can destroy planets within weeks.
Joining us for this episode are James and Jon!
Fresh from their victory in the Great War of Confederation, and desperate to put the sting of the Farsight Enclave behind them, the Tau prepared for war. With a new understanding that Total War was the state of the galaxy, the Tau poured more and more resources to their military arm. Now armed with more tech than ever, and with an inflated sense of self worth after their victory over the Orks, the Tau placed Commander Shadowsun in charge of their Third Sphere of Expansion. They were not prepared!
In this episode, we perform an overview of the Tau Third Sphere of Expansion, while looking into some of the key battles that were fought. Joining us on this episode is Iain.
While most Necron live within the confines of the Dynastic Courts, there are some that don't fit, conform, or belong with the other Necron. They sit on the fringes of the Necron hierarchy, creating their own twisted courts, attempting to claim a semblance of normalcy. Some of these Necron are insane, infected by virus' more ancient and misunderstood than any sickness today. Others are completely rational and have formed guilds or clans that owe allegiance to no Dynasty; no master commands them. In this episode we'll discuss the Necron that exist outside of the Dynastic powers, whether by choice, or by expulsion.
Joining us for this episode is James!
After tragically losing our last recorded episode, we decided to spotlight some of the cool things that are happening in the Lorehammer community! We sit down with Matt and Dylan and highlight what's happening on their show as well as all the ways you could get involved with us! We look forward to seeing you in our Community Events!
We know the sound quality on this episode is going to be lower than normal, and we are working on improving our remote recording qualities and capabilities. Thanks for understanding!

These visions of Ghazghkull Mag Uruk Thraka have whipped the Orks into a frenzy, readying them to claim their galactic prize through the Great Waaagh! The Prophet of the Waaagh! has risen up to claim his prize, Ork Warboss of the greatest, largest, and most dangerous Waaagh! to ever terrorize the galaxy. And with the blessings of Gork and Mork, who can truly stand in his way?
This episode is all about the Ork Warboss Thraka, and his rise to glory. Joining us on this episode are Brody and Josh.
In lieu of a real episode (there is one coming don't worry!) we decided to just hit the random page button on the Lexicanum website. Something we all used to do was stay awake into the wee hours of the night constantly hitting random, and then following the links down the rabbit trails. It's always fun to wonder how you got from Solomon Zane to the Aconite Frigate, but that's what madness does to you!
Joining us on this episode for the last time is Chris.
The Dark City. A metropolis that exists everywhere, and nowhere. Danger lurks around every corner, your life threatened every second. While Commorragh might be synonymous with Kabals and Dark Eldar, there exist any number of creatures in the City. Outcasts, rebels, transients, xenos, synthetic creations... all have their own place. Commorragh may be the haven you were searching for... though most likely it is your doom.
In this episode we share some of the other groups that reside within the Dark City. These are mainly focused on the Dark Eldar with a few well known creatures from the Archon's Courts. Joining us for this episode are Rio and Micah!
Well this episode is a bit of a doozy! Instead of reading multiple short stories, we've decided to spend the entire episode reading out a looooong one. Even though its long, its great so get your ear holes ready to hear about Only One Bob's Sons of Malice!
Joining us on this episode is Josh, a new guest!
What would you do to save your race? On the brink of destruction at the hands of an insatiably hungry God, one Aeldari rose from his personal blackness to walk a new Path for the Eldar. One forged in fire and tempered in blood. The Phoenix Lords are ancient Eldar, committed to the violent protection of a dying and struggling race. Join us as we explore these immortal saviors of the Aeldari.
Joining us for this episode are James and Rio.

"I walk this lonely Path.
The only Path I ever wish to know.
I don't know where it goes,
But it's all I've ever known, though I walk alone."
- Elder Corsair Prince Bi'Ly Strongarm
Some Eldar struggle with the confines with of the Path system, and even rebel against it. Others were born outside of the Craftworlds and never experienced the constraints of the Path.
This episode is all about the Eldar that live their lives on the fringes of Eldar society. Joining us for this episode are Iain, and for the last time, Chris.
Back in October the Lorehammer discord server was the site of a most unusual phenomenon. A member of our community graciously offered to sponsor a Horror themed Short Story contest! We opened it to our community and received 11 short stories in a matter of days! After allowing everyone a chance to read through them, we opened up voting to determine which one was the best.
In this bonus episode, we read a few of the top voted stories, and finish off with the winner of the contest! It's a short episode with some well written stories so enjoy!
Joining Mark and Erik on this episode is B, now making her second appearance.
Welcome to Lorehammer Library! Where Mark and Erik try to read your stories, but fail because reading is hard. Joining us for this Listener Lore episode is Peter!

A sound overtakes your senses. Your head involuntarily jerks up as you, panicked, search the horizon. It's no use. The Horn continues. As it fails to end a sob escapes your throat. You will yourself to run but your legs don't respond. Your brothers and sisters beside you crumple to the ground at a slight tremor that grows steadily larger. Your terror escalates as there, peaking beyond that bluff, you see it. A God-Engine. A Divine Machine. The weapon in the Right Hand of the Emperor. An Imperial Titan. It's Horn continues to pierce the air. You know what It wants. It has felt your soul, and seen the corruption within it. The Chaos in your heart. And now, It has come to cleanse.
This episode is all about Imperial Titans! Buckle down and break out the notebooks because it is long, and it is good! Find us on Spotify, here: https://spoti.fi/lorehammer
Joining us for this episode are two very passionate guests for the Adeptus Mechanicus, Colyn, and Micah.
What happens when Mark and Dylan trap two unsuspecting people in the studio and try to teach them about 40k? Nothing good, let this be your warning. Natalie and B join Mark and Dylan and are introduced to the wonderful world of Warhammer by people that have no idea what they're talking about. It's a classic terrible set up.
This episode has strong adult themes.
Tall cathedral walls rise into a black ceiling. Incense slowly falls from unseen censures to bathe your senses in holy scents. You breathe deep. Hundreds of armored figures stand in silence, creating a wall of stares attempting to pierce your very soul, constantly searching for signs of corruption. You walk down the hall, your eyes focused on the raised dais at the end of your journey. The end of this journey, and the beginning of another. As you kneel a Chaplain pours holy anointed oil over your head. He steps back as another plants himself in front of you and intones,
"Neophyte Stefan, it is decided that today we will speak over you the oath of the Black Templars. It will be your duty to uphold and honor these words to your very death. Forsaking them is forsaking us, our Father Primarch, and the Emperor, Savior and God of Mankind. You will swear these in front of us, as witnesses, and we will hold you accountable to your immortal souls peril. Will you swear?"
You raise your head, your eyes burning with fire as the oil slowly runs down your face and neck, "I will swear."
This episode is all about the Black Templars! One of our favorite Chapters ever, get ready to hear all about crusading and... well whatever else the Black Templars like to do...
Joining us for this episode is James, and for the last time, Chris.
Once again we dove deep into the Lorehammer vaults to uncover this episodes listener submissions. In this episode we read through Redeemable Grace's Imperial Navy story of the Twins of Forgeworld Jupiter, Robert's cold open story of (we presume) a member of the Astra Militarum, Tom's story of an unknown Xenos race, and David's story of the planet Verusia.
Joining us on this episode is a very special guest, Paul from Forge the Narrative and 40k Today! It was absolutely awesome to have him on the show, and we look forward to the next time we get to hang out!
If you have a story you want to submit for us to read, send it to us at [email protected].
There are many different Imperial Guard regiments in service to our great Imperium, though few have the reputation of the Death Korps. Born into service, if you can call it that, they are tenacious, reckless, and dangerous. Their entire lives are spent in the trenches of the Emperor's battles, their only release is death given in His name. They are a Cult of Sacrifice; birthed only to die, living only to kill.
This episode is all about the Death Korps of Krieg! The regiment is absolutely awesome, a perfect representation of the horror of war in the 41st millennium.
Joining us for this episode is James, and a brand new guest, Josh, who just so happens to be a new 40k player, in the trenches with the Kriegsmen.
In this second episode of our Flora and Fauna focused releases, we go through several of the Dark Heresy role playing games published by Fantasy Flight Games including the Dark Heresy Core Rulebook (2008), Dark Heresy Game Master's Kit (2008), Dark Heresy Edge of Darkness (2009), and Dark Heresy Disciple of the Dark Gods (2008). We scoured them to find all the examples of non sentient life we could! As it turns out... almost all of it wants to eat you... go figure.
Joining us for this episode are Rio and Brianna!
After three years it was brought to our attention that we had never fully addressed the issue of Psykers within the galaxy. Once we were informed of our lacking, we set about to rectify the situation immediately, crafting with the utmost of care an episode worthy of such a grand, mysterious, and undeniably terrifying subject. Enjoy.

For this last Lockdown episode, we managed to get the cast of the Star Lores podcast in our studio!! What a stroke of luck! We tackle many of the burning questions like, is a Jedi or a Space Marine stronger? Which universe is bigger? And most importantly, why is 40k better than Star Wars? You can expect to find answers to these important issues in this final Lockdown episode.
Joining us for this episode is Jordan, and for the last time Chris.
We hope that you haven't gone crazy yet and that you are firmly saying "No" to the voices that have begun to speak to you from the corners of your mind. But just in case you have started to talk with them, there's a few things you should know. First, always stay in character. It doesn't help anyone's immersion if you flit between personalities all the time. Secondly, the more outrageous and outlandish the accent, the better. Really try to develop these voices that are speaking to you. Create histories for them. Create memories that you can refer back to in order to shape their character. And then, when this is all over, realize that you went too far and now you have a couple friends that will always be with you... ALWAYS.
And if you said no, well that's why we're here! To offer a distraction from those pesky boredom daemons.
Enjoy this Lockdown episode where we got Peter in to chat about a bunch of our role playing experiences, both inside and outside of 40k.
We continue to slog through the massive backlog of Listener Lore that we seem to have amassed over the years... No idea how that happened...
Get ready for Archmagos Azreal Grimm's Mechanicus, Cody's Necron, Bryce's Imperial Knights, and David's Imperial Knights!
Reading these stories with us for the first time ever, is Spenny!
If you have a story that you want to share with us, shoot us an email at [email protected].
Finally! Another Listener Lore! And since it's been so long since we've done one, we decided to share 5 stories in one. WOW! How lucky are you guys!?
In this episode we share Zrin's "Shrine of the Resonating Echo", Josh's "Flash Tribe Toff", Marcus' "Evil Sunz Army", Anthony's take on a World Eater Warband, and Danny's short story of the Farsight Enclaves.
If you have a story that you want to share, and you want us to sit on it for a couple months before we actually read it out loud, send us your lore to [email protected].

"Thirteen times shall the Traitor King go forth.
In the End Times the iron fortress shall be cast down,
Its walls breached and its Gate forced open.
Those that dwell beyond shall spill through it.
The air shall burn and the ground shall melt,
The Daemon shall lie down with the machine,
Brother shall slay brother with fire and sword,
And the sky-wound shall pour its malice forth.
The Eye shall stare unblinking at its prize,
And the Traitor King shall cross the bridge of stars.
He shall return to finish the Warmonger's red work,
Upon holy soil shall the fate of man be decided." - The Liber Malefact

A 10,000 year Long War. The most carnage and devastation that has been visited on the galaxy since the Horus Heresy. Leader of the Black Legion and Champion of the Chaos Pantheon. Abaddon has desecrated endless holy sites in his hatred for the Emperor and the Imperium that He created. He has commanded the most successful campaign against Humanity through his Black Crusades. In this episode we discuss the first 11 of his Black Crusades, and will continue the tale of the Despoiler in our next release.
Joining us for this episode is Tim, and for the last time, Christian.
We last left the Tau at the end of the Second Sphere of Expansion. Stretched thin, they arrived at the Damocles Gulf, unable to cross it. In the 300 years between the 2nd and 3rd Spheres, the Tau race would be put to their greatest tests since the time of Mont'au. They would interact with three distinct races, as well as deal with their own internal problems. But the spark of hope that is the Greater Good can never go out, it will continue to shine throughout the galaxy.
Joining us for this episode is our friendly Tau lover, Rio, as well as James.

The dead rise again. Whispers of an evil spread throughout the galaxy. Planets shake as ancient sarcophagi open, and Legions awaken. The dead rise again. The Dynasties have come to claim what is theirs.
In this episode we discuss the Necron race, and the beings that swear allegiance to their Dynasties.
Joining us for this episode is Jimothy!
Us Prophets of the People have decided to sit down and muse upon the Primarchs. What were they like? What did they smell like? Do you think they ever wanted to just sit down and have a cheeseburger? More importantly we ask ourselves: What would it look like if a Primarch other than Roboute Guilliman had revived? Would we like that?
Joining Mark and Erik in this episode, for the last time, is Christian.

Impossible to understand, quantify, or define. The sound of a billion billion voices is it's very essence. It's instinct; ancient. It's knowledge; immeasurable. It's hunger; insatiable. It drives the Tyranid swarm ever onward. It's will is unquestionable.
What is the Hive Mind? Where did it come from? How does it work? These are all questions that we don't know the answer to, and probably will never make the effort to learn.
Joining us for this episode are Jon, our long time Tyranid friend, and also a brand new guest, Iain!

We're on a roll folks!! Since we're the laziest podcasters you've ever seen, we decided to do the easy thing and just read the stories that you've submitted instead of actually doing a real episode! Pretty sneaky huh?
In this Listener Lore episode we finally get around to Brodie's Tournament winning lore, the Void Hunter Chapter of the Space Marines, Eric's 265th Mechanized Infantry Regiment Force Organization (or the MIRFO as we like to call it), Liam's Loota Kult, and William's take on another battle for Rynn's World, courtesy of the Crimson Fists Chapter.
Joining us, for the last time, is Christian. If you want to submit your story for us to share, send us an email to [email protected].
Welcome back to our backlog of lore where we share the stories written upon the back of the 40k universe... backs. In this episode we share stories from Syde's Dark Eldar in Commorragh, Guy's Imperial Knights, and Maci's Dark Angel Night Wing Company.
If you have stories you want to share, send them to [email protected], and we promise to not make too much money off it.
Joining us for today's episode is Peter, and for the last time, Christian.
Everyone got so sick of listening to Mark, that apparently Trevor is the only person willing to talk with him! In this episode Trevor... or Mark... explain to Mark... or Trevor... all about the story behind his new Ork list! Prepare your earholes for madness...
Joining Mark and Trevor on this episode is... no one...
You wake up in a cold panic and strain against the bindings that hold you on the table. Your eyes dart back and forth, trying to understand, trying to wake up. The air is warm on your skin, and damp. You look down at your own body to where your legs are, and elation takes you at seeing them. Then the nightmare rushes back. You, on a table, your body being cut away inch by delicate inch at the order of a Lord of Pain. He watches you as you scream, he watches you as you die. And then, births you so it can be enjoyed again. The nightmare ends, and your screams begin before a blade even comes near your forsaken body.
This episode is all about the Haemonculi! These Underworld rulers care little for the mundane people that live today, instead concerning themselves solely with their pursuits of pleasure.
Joining us for this episode for the first time is Sam.

We just had our Lorehammer tournament, so Mark and Erik sat down with Todd and Canadian Steve to have a chat about it! If you missed the opportunity, don't worry! It's completely possible it happens again... sometime... somewhere...
Let your ear holes fill with jealousy and your mouth holes froth with anger upon learning what you missed.
Well we finally decided that people might want to hear more Listener Lore! But it's just Mark and Erik so thats kind of a bummer... Anyways enjoy hearing about Hugh's Adeptus Mechanicus, Griff's worldbuilding, Not-a-Tyranid's Guardsmen, and Karl's Guardsmen. we're working our way through! (the massive massive backlog that is...)
OI! YOUSE! Iz you an Oddboy?? Or iz you a Boy wot iz odd?
While Orks seem to be an unsightly rabble of yelling green monsters, they view themselves very differently. There are strict caste systems and hierarchies within Ork Kultur that are determined by A. how big you are, and B. how useful you are. And sometimes C. how lucky you are. In this episode we talk about Oddboyz, but we also talk about the Boyz that don't necessarily fit in with standard Ork Kultur. These Boyz, while not Oddboyz, are definitely odd Boyz, and deserve attention just the same!
Joining us for this episode, is Dylan, the Orkiest Aussie we know!
Like an itch that can't be scratched. Like a voice heard, but not seen. Like a breath on your neck from someone unseen.
For most Eldar, their entire lives will be spent denying their desire to let go. To give in to the swirling energy that is constantly around them. But these are not most Eldar. Those that walk the Path of the Seer are willing to walk the razors edge. They have placed their hands into the molten ice and shaped it to their will. They have witnessed the power beyond that attempts to devour their very souls. And they stand, defiant. Devoting themselves to the protection and survival of their race, they risk their souls for this purpose.
Joining us for this discussion of the Path of the Seer is Farseer Peter.

Beyond the mechanical Skitarii, there exist many other tendrils of the Mechanicus' power. From voidships more massive than any that the Imperium uses, to secret police, to Ordinati larger than mountains, the Divisio Militaris is broken up into 9 bodies, each responsible for a different function. In this episode, we will highlight 5 of these Divisio (with the expectation that at some point we'll talk about the Collegia Titanica. SYKE!).

You finish your daemonic prayer to the Lords of the Waste. Your unholy invocation leaves your lips. Power grows within you. You raise your arms above your head and prepare to cast down the enemies of your Master when... it ends. The power, the pain, the blessing, all disappear. And there, striding through the haze of your euphoria, a diminutive human, in muted silver armor, the gorget covering the lower portion of her face. She stalks toward you, eyes trained on yours until it feels like nothing else in the galaxy matters except for your imminent end. A scream escapes you as she approaches. Her eyes smile as she gives you your forever doom.

In this episode we discuss all things Sisters of Silence! These wordless warriors are Humanity's ace in the pocket for dealing with the Immaterium, and in this episode you'll find out why. Joining us for this episode are James, and Matt, a traveler all the way from the UK!
Towering warriors clad in bright golden armor. Beings so holy that to see one is to be blessed by the God-Emperor Himself. They act of their own accord, ensuring everything they do is for the continued protection of the Savior of Humanity. They are the Adeptus Custodes, the Right Hand of the Emperor, and they bring death and destruction upon their foes.

Aaaaaaaaaaand we're back! Sorry for the late release folks, as some little nurglings infested our computer and deleted our recording! Clearly this information is very important and so we did our very best to make sure that you get it! In this episode, we talk about bodies. Specifically, heavenly bodies. More specifically, we talk about how the Imperium classifies all planets within the galaxy. It might not be the most exciting episode (we'll do another space marine episode at some point... maybe), but it is actually quite interesting, especially for all those people that like to world-build within the 40K universe!
Joining us for this episode, is Colyn.
An adoring fan drove 3 hours just to hang out with us! WOWZA! Jk he was just in the neighborhood. We sat down with Brodie and had a chat that ranged from Tau, to new Ultramarine releases, to who knows what. Don't bother listening, its definitely not worth your time.
Slavery to freedom. Abandonment to brotherhood. Betrayal to devotion. These and many more were promised to those Astartes that left the Imperium to join their brother's cause and rebel against the Emperor. In a world where your only value is the measure of what you can do for Humanity, it's no wonder that it's members can feel alone. In this episode, we discuss what a Heretic Astartes is, how they came to be, and how they continue to exist.
Joining us for this episode are Tim, and for the last time, Chris.
For more information about our Tournament, please visit our Facebook or Instagram page.
ONE! MORE! TIME! *chanting intensifies* In this Listener Lore we talk about Sean's Deathwatch, Geoffrey's Thousand Sons, Liam's Orks, and James' mysterious Astral Knights! If you have stories or lore that you want us to read and talk about, then send your submissions to [email protected]
Hey guys! Lorehammer wants to know what YOU'd do to hang out with us! So take a listen, and prepare for our next regularly scheduled episode where we will have more details.
Welcome to a burst of T'au! After their small round of exploration in the First Sphere, our Friendly Neighborhood Xenos Pals decided to do even MORE exploring! So fun for them! And, you guessed it, they met so many new friends and really cool places! But we all know that can't last. For in this galaxy... There is only war.
Joining us for this episode is our T'au expert, Rio.
In this bonus episode we read a story sent to us by Luke about Mark's Obliterator army. We also read another story written by Erik about his Nekhebet Dynasty.
"Down below, where we dare not go, our gods are resting. Underneath the soil, on which we toil, our gods are resting. Your life would be forfeit, just stay in your closet, and pray the gods don't find you." - Poorly translated rhyme etched in blood found on Tomb World Stavon IX. Found after the planet was investigated for a highly irregular energy surge.
This week we discuss what you would find on a Tomb World, other than death. Joining us is Skyler, and Jordan! Finally back from his sabbatical from avoiding us.
Welcome to the character customization! Does your character like to jump? Do they have really large talons? Can their chest cavity open up and expel a swarm of bugs? Is their arm covered in rotting flesh that houses bugs that will burrow through your enemies flesh? So many options!
In this episode we discuss all manner of Tyranid biomorphs. From the lowly carapace to lightning rods sticking out of your back, these bugs have covered it all! Joining us is Jimothy (or James, as the plebeians call him) and Nathan, making his Lorehammer debut!
In this bonus episode, Colyn sit Erik and Mark down to listen to his two new audio dramas. The first is titled The Echo of Satellite 66b, and the second is March for Mars. These were done through fan submission, edited by Colyn, and the music was produced by Officio Audiorum. If you liked these, and want to get involved for future projects, check out Colyn's website (https://www.coldopenstories.com/), or check out his Insta.
In Comorragh, the rule is "A place for everyone, and everyone in their place". If you don't know yours, you're probably already dead. This city preys on the weak and alone. But there is also a perverse safety within it. Finding shelter with the Kabals can lead to your ascension, or an even more terrible doom.
Joining us to talk about Kabals is James, Tim, and Daniel. Mark was not able to make the recording time.
“Oi! Yous! Yah yous! Git yah grot behind ova ‘ere an clean up dis mess! An when yah done, CMERE SOES I CAN EAT YA!”
oh the life of a grot... sadly, this one didn’t live beyond this encounter with his master. In fact, most don’t survive very long at all! In today’s episode, you’ll hear all about the lower members that make up Ork society.
Joining us today is Skyler, and a new guest, Todd!
This is the second episode about Aspect Warriors! We finish up with everything about them.
Joining us is Peter, our Eldar expert, and James, hereon out referred to as Jimothy.
Welcome to another bonus installment of Lorehammer! In this purely bonus episode, Mark begins to describe the setting behind his new Obliterator themed army. If you have suggestions for him, well you can message us on Facebook at Lorehammer, send us an email at [email protected], or follow us on Instagram and bug us there!
Joining us for the last time, is Christian.
Spoken of in hushed whispers. Regarded with fear, awe, and dread all at once. Reviled, and yet required. These Aspect Warriors are the protectors of the Aeldari. They are the manifest will of Khaela Mensha Khaine, the Eldar God of War.
In this first of two parts, we talk about what it means to be an Aspect Warrior. We'll talk about Shrines, Aspects and Exarchs. Stay tuned for the next part of this episode, where we finish going through the individual Aspects.
Joining us is Peter, our resident Eldar expert, and Frank, who hasn't joined us since the release of our 3rd episode!
Hey you! Yes you! Do you love the Omnissiah? Do you REALLY love Him!? Cause if you do, we have just the place for you! Join other faithful ones as we... change... you so you can serve Him better! Slow runner with those malnourished legs? No problem! We'll give you new ones! Shaky aim? Not to worry! We'll install a computer *in your brain* to do that! Still have a free will? EASY! We'll install a backdoor program that allows anyone with the right tools to override your individuality and force you to bend to their will!
Welcome, to the Skitarri!
Joining us for this episode, are Stephen and the Archmagos himself, Colyn.
'Ere we goooooo!!!!! Another round of listener submitted stories for your ear holes. On this episode we read about Tim's Knight House Koldere, Graham's world of Viđrfold, and Adam's Imperial Guard Regiment, the 5 by 5. Thanks for the submissions, and remember, if you have any stories from 40k that you want to share with us and have us morons critique it, email us at [email protected]!
See you soon!
This episode is everything Astrological! Wait no... In this episode we're studying Astronomy! That's not right either... This episode is about Cosmology! (nailed it).
We wanted to finish our space travel series with an in depth look at what the Astronomican really is, where it came from, and how it works. We seemed to find a lot of our own misconceptions about this item, so we think you'll also find some good information in this!
Joining us once again, is Micah, and for the last time, Christian!
In this bonus episode, our very own Dylan wanted for people just to hear us chat. In it, we talk about a plethora of topics, ranging from fantasy and hobby to life! Enjoy some banter and nonsensical conversation. BUT! Dylan also shares with us a rap that he had written about Lorehammer, and to be honest... it's awesome.
Enjoi!
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to stare into the warp? Would you find something staring back? Could you keep your sanity? These Imperial citizens not only do that, but they also use this knowledge to help them steer every single warp-capable craft in the Imperium. In this episode we discuss the absolute necessity of the Navigators, and what it would be like to live as one.
Joining us for this episode is Dylan, and a new guest Steve!
In this episode, we take the time to dissect the major faction's space faring technology. We talk about the technology behind their expansions, or lack there of.
Joining us for this episode, are James and Rio.
Terrifying mechanical monstrosities. Horrendous flesh amalgamations. Unthinkable daemonic contrivances. The Dark Mechanicum is responsible for many disturbing creations aided by Dark Powers, but they also are the primary suppliers of the Chaos Space Marines, and keepers of the Traitor Titan Legions. In this episode we talk about what they do, how they do it, and most importantly, WHY they do it.
Joining us, once again, is Colyn.
We managed to steal Peter away from his busy busy schedule, and chatted about the journey of his character Mon'praus of the Eternal Horizon. We also talk very briefly and disjointedly about the story of the Eternal Horizon and it's crew. This episode will contain spoilers if you haven't had a chance to listen to the RPG series and wish to.
Enjoy!
Would you leave your planet for a space journey that might end in disaster? Would you leave everything behind to find a new world and a new life? Well that's just what the Tau did in their First Sphere of Expansion! In this episode we talk about the Tau's first space endeavor, and their attempt to bring the Greater Good to the galaxy.
Joining us for the first time, is Megan.
Part 7
This is the tale of the Eternal Horizon, a Tau vessel sent careening across the galaxy in a warp storm. This was a home made pen and paper-esque game that was developed by Mark and Erik, and ended up being the back story for Mark's Tau army.
Please understand that these were originally not going to be distributed, and therefore the audio quality is not up to our regular standards, as well we were more interested in playing the actual game than worrying about how what we were doing would sound like to listeners.

Keeping along the theme of Necron, Erik finally wrote a short story about his Dynasty. It's not what you think... it's MUCH worse. If you want to tell him what you think, message us on Facebook at Lorehammer, or send us an email at [email protected].
Have you ever wondered what the difference between the Sautekh and the Mephrit was? Did you even know there was a difference!? Well buckle in and plug into the matrix cause we're about to find out! Today we talk about different Necron Dynasties as well as what comprises a Necron Court. Very briefly Erik also goes into what he thinks every good Necron story needs.
Joining us is no one, because we have run out of friends.
"Well hello Citizen!" * A robed and hooded stranger hands you a pamphlet* "Have you heard of the cul- ahem I mean Church of the Four Armed Emperor? We have services twice a week in subsection 23B of the City! Yes we know thats far underneath the streets, but we like privacy. We'll see you there!"
You stare at the pamphlet and an unshakable desire to learn more takes a hold of you. You find your way to the meeting, and are warmly greeted by more hooded and hunched figures...
*50 years later*
You stare in rapture as your Father finally emerges from his throne. His will searing through your mind thanks to the Princely being beside him. You raise your gun and yell your cultish ululations as your family assaults a local governments office. Tears stream down your face as you see the spaceships of your God enter the atmosphere. Your ascension is here.
In this Episode we talk all about the Genestealer Cults!
Joining us again is James.
So we finally got around to recording another episode of Listener Lore! In this series, we read the stories and information that were submitted to us by our listeners about their armies in 40k. If we haven't read yours yet, stay tuned! There are many more to come. Soon. Hopefully. Who knows... hard to say.
"All Orks is equal, but some Orks are more equal dan uvvas." - Goff Warboss Bugrat Skumdreg
Today we talk about the distinct personalities among Orks! What sets a Goff apart from a Bad Moon, or even an Evil Sunz! Get ready for some fun quotes and even weirder conversation. It's been a while since we recorded, so it took us a minute to get back into the swing of things.
Joining us today, for the first time, is a massive Ork fan all the way from Australia, Dylan!
If you want to know more about Erik offloading his poor choices (the Space Marine game key) check out our facebook here: https://www.facebook.com/lorehammerpodcast/
Commorragh. A vile, infested land of outsiders, bounty hunters and slaves. A breeding ground of a race so hedonistic, they birthed a god of Chaos with their immoral ways. Commorragh. The largest city to ever exist in the galaxy, so large that an entire planet could not wholly contain it. So large that it spans the entire galaxy. Commorragh. Riches untold are hidden in it depths, and knowledge so ancient that you would risk your very life to attain it.
Commorragh, the Dark City. Home of the Drukhari.
In this episode we discuss all things Commorragh! Joining us, for the last time, is Christian.
When your life had no meaning, we gave you a purpose. When you were wandering aimlessly, we offered you direction. When you were tempted by the overwhelming existence of the universe, we gave you focus. Come walk with us on the Path. Journey, and be redeemed.
In this episode we discuss the Path of the Eldar and how it protects the Eldar race from extinction.
Joining us, once again, is Peter, our resident Eldar Expert.
This is the first episode in our Listener Lore series. In it, we read the stories and information that were submitted to us by our listeners about their armies in 40k. We recieved so many that we couldn't possibly fit it all in one episode, so stay tuned for many more to come!
Have you ever caught your neighbour worshipping a daemon? How about them plotting a revolt against the Imperium? Practising black magic? It might seem like all hope is lost for their immortal soul, but WAIT! You can save them! Just report them to your nearest Ordo Hereticus Inquisitor and in no time at all that Witchhunter will have absolved your friend of all sin! You might never see them again, but thats the price you pay for redemption...
In this episode we talk about the second largest organisation within the Imperium, the Ordo Hereticus. We also talk about the military branch of the Church, the Sisters of Battle.
Joining us, for the last time, is Christian.
Where does a Space Marine rise to when he is already the best? What further glories are there for him? Where might a Marine go when he must be punished for a transgression? Where would a shamed Marine go, where nobody even knows his Chapter? The Deathwatch of course! In this Episode, we discuss the Ordo Xenos, the Inquisitorial Ordo responsible for protecting the human race from the threat of the alien.
Joining us, once again, is Colyn.
The Threat Beyond. That malicious temptation that claws at humanities mind in an attempt to turn all that we are into a mess of Chaos worshipping scum that go buy more GW models. If there was ever a need for a protector, this is it. These are the silent heroes; their deeds never shouted from battlements or paraded in the streets.
In this episode we talk about the Ordo Malleus and, more importantly, the Grey Knights. Joining us for the first time, is Brant the Broken.
What keeps you safe? What watches the night to make sure that the darkness doesn't consume you? What force prevents your soul from being seduced and compromised, and then "takes care" of you when it happens? Obviously Batman, but that's not what we're talking about today. Today is all about the Imperium's secret police. The Inquisition is a creation of the Emperor of Mankind, and as such knows no limits to their authorities. Today we will be setting the groundwork of the Inquisition to prepare you for your higher education of the Ordos Majoris in the coming episodes.
Joining us, once again, is Micah.
So you wish to wield Power, do you? You have felt the cravings? The desire to rid yourself of these paltry flesh bonds that you have? Then come closer... Listen to the voices in your head. Those voices so sweet, so beguiling, so... tempting. Give in to your cravings and give yourself. To Chaos.
In this episode we discuss those beings that have forsworn their souls to the Dark Gods. We talk about what gifts the Ruinous Powers bestow upon their servants, as well as what it takes to get them.
Joining us once again, is Skyler.
Welcome to the T’au friend! Now that you’re in the Greater Good, it’s necessary for you to learn about our culture. We have prepared this so you can contribute to your fullest potential. Kindly use our system to determine your place in our Empire! Even though we all know that you are at the bottom.
Joining us for this episode is Rio.
Welcome children welcome! Come, sit by the fire. Close your eyes and imagine with me. Imagine a time when great Metal Gods roamed these lands to protect us from the Beasts. When our sons and daughters were called by the Sorcerors to leave this land behind and journey into the stars to fight a Gods battle. You might think you know our history, the story of our people... You are wrong. Listen now, and learn from whence the House of Arokis was born.
This episode is about the story behind Mark's Knight House. It doesn't exist in 40k canon, but we truly believe that the universe only gets better when we add to it (within the realm of reason obviously... LOOKING AT YOU PRIMARIS MARINES!). If you enjoyed this episode and you happen to have something similar to share, we would absolutely love to read it, and possibly even share it! Please send us a message on facebook @lorehammer, or email us at [email protected].
Enjoy!
Behemoth. Kraken. Leviathan.
These are monsters, abominations, and terrors from Humanity's past. Terrible creatures of such unknowable size and power that the very names invoked fear and doom. In the days of the Glorious Imperium, these names have resurfaced to identify an enemy whose only desire is to feed upon our flesh, and in doing so grow ever stronger.
Harken to our tale, and maybe the wisdom within can save your pitiful soul from the Great Devourer.
Joining us, for the last time, is Christian.
DISCLAIMER: Jordan was not with us during our recording so please forgive any messed up volume and levels. We don't know how to use technology.

Joining us for the first time, are Colyn and James.
In the beginning of time; at the dawn of creation, the C'tan were born. Vast creatures whose very beings encompassed planets and even stars, they were ignorant of all life that existed... until one fateful day that a dying race, on the outskirts of the galaxy, chose to break that thin veneer of ignorance, and introduce them to life. Thus the Star Gods were born.
We were none of us prepared.
In this episode we discuss all things C'tan! Ever wondered who the real Old Ones were? Well you'll have to listen to find out!
Joining us, for the last time, is Christian.
Welcome to our bonus episode! As with all bonus episodes, this is in no way cannon lore and only exists to share our world of Warhammer with you... THE PEOPLE! Joining us this episode is Micah, a know it all friend that just has to correct us if he can.
In this episode we discuss the Astra Militarum. This is the biggest fighting force that the Imperium of Man can bring to bear. This backbone of the Imperium is capable of throwing such massive numbers of bodies at an enemy, that the sheer weight of them is enough to ensure victory. Learn just how difficult it would be to imagine Humanity without its greatest display of power.
Joining us for this episode, is Paul.
In this episode we talk about force organisation of a Primaris Chapter. We also discuss the Space Marines role in the Imperium, as well as their support and war gears. Joining us, for the last time, is Christian.

Message us with the back story of your project and we just might share it! (we probably/definitely will, we have nothing better to talk about).
Joining us, for the last time, is Christian.
Finally. We have trudged through this swamp of information (or sometimes lack thereof) on as many of the xenos races as are listed on the Lexicanum website. We hope you enjoyed listening to them way more than we did preparing them (seriously, it was a struggle). But if you can manage to get through this last episode, we promise that there are even greater things beyond the horizon! Joining us for the first time, is Skyler. As always, the reason we discuss anything is to create a discussion. If there’s something you disagree with, or maybe even agree with (much more unlikely) let us know through Facebook, Twitter, or email.
