One of the misconceptions that many people hold is the idea that 'if I'm able to stop my thoughts, I'll experience peace.'
You can't stop thoughts because you aren't controlling them, just as the sky isn't controlling the clouds that pass through it.
Therefore any attempt to stop thoughts will simply lead to frustration and more stress.
This spiritual practice is not about trying to stop thoughts, but instead turning the attention away from thoughts and focusing on the spaciousness in which the thoughts appear.
This spacious awareness is not disturbed or affected by any thought and it is here in pure, still Beingness that you will discover lasting peace.
