Lovecars On the Grid. Global Motorsport Podcast
Welcome to episode 34 of the Lovecars on the Grid podcast! Our presenters Tiff Needell and Paul Woodman are back to bring us an exciting roundup of motorsport events from this week!
We kick off with some best wishes for the horrendous accidents in British Superbikes and the Ginetta Series.
Tiff was at Spa Francorchamps in Belgium to watch Max Verstappen storm from 14th place to yet another victory for Red Bull in the Formula 1. We had a new track layout at Eau Rouge and Raidillon. Carlos Sainz managed to get pole position in qualifying and both Charles LeClerc and Max Verstappen suffered grid penalties for various changes with their cars.
Hamilton was taken out of the race early in the first lap, following some contact with Fernando Alonso. Meanwhile, at Ferrari, the team tried to give Charles LeClerc the fastest lap, only to result in being overtaken by Fernando Alonso in another poor strategy decision and had to battle the Spanish driver in the final lap, only to be penalised for speeding in the pit lane following the race.
Elsewhere in Formula 1 gossip, the argument for Oscar Piastri continues, as Alpine stated they had a contract with the driver, whilst McLaren also stating that the driver was to drive for them. The case lies with the Formula 1 lawyers!
In Formula 2, Liam Lawson won the sprint race, whilst the feature race went to Jack Doohan in his Alpine. In Formula 3, British driver, Oliver Bearman won the sprint race, whilst the feature race went to Zane Maloney.
The NASCAR race at Daytona was unfortunately postponed due to heavy rain on the Saturday. The win eventually went to Chevrolet driver, Austin Dillon.
The British Touring Cars were racing at Thruxton, and after a horrific crash, race 1 went to Ford driver, Dan Cammish, Ashley Sutton won the second race and Josh Cook won the third.
At Cadwell Park, we had the British Superbikes. Bradley Ray won the sprint race on his Yamaha. Danny Buchan won race 2 and 3.
This week, we hope we can find out what will happen with Oscar Piastri, plus we have another Formula 1 race to look forward to at Zandvoort. Plus, we have Indycar at Portland, Moto GP at San Marino and the NASCAR playoffs begin!
