Lovecars On the Grid. Global Motorsport Podcast
Welcome to the Lovecars On The Grid podcast! Tiff Needell and Paul Woodman bring us another roundup of motorsport from the past week!
This week we have British GTs, British Superbikes, Japanese Superformula, NASCAR and more!
Tiff has fresh Formula 1 gossip, with a 4 week break until the next race in Baku, Azerbaijan!
The Japanese Superformula was getting geared up for a new season!
We had an exciting weekend in British GTs at Oulton Park. Jonny Adam from 2 Seas Motorsport secures his 100th win, while James Cottingham from DK Engineering earns his first victory in a thrilling wet/dry race at Oulton Park, making it a memorable moment for the Intelligent Money British GT Championship.
Ian Loggie and Jules Gounon emerge victorious in round two of the 2023 Intelligent Money British GT Championship at Oulton Park, overcoming a strong challenge from RAM Racing. Meanwhile, in the GT4 class, Ian Gough and Tom Wrigley of RACE LAB secure a debut win for their McLaren.
We also had British Superbikes racing at Silverstone, with Oulton Park coming next.
The 'dirt race' took place at Bristol Speedway for the NASCAR drivers. Christopher Bell, a self-proclaimed "dirt guy," won the Food City Dirt Race at Bristol Motor Speedway, the only NASCAR Cup Series race on dirt. Despite hard feelings between pole winner Kyle Larson and Ryan Preece boiling over, Bell held off Tyler Reddick to claim his first victory of the season and fifth of his career. With his experience on dirt, Bell navigated the half-mile track's two ends, which had different racing characteristics. Reddick, who won Stage 2, tried to catch up but paid the price with a pit stop at the second break and restarting 12th on Lap 151. Larson won 75-lap Stage 1 but angered Preece, who returned the favor in Turn 4. Austin Dillon, Ricky Stenhouse Jr., Chase Briscoe, and Justin Haley rounded out the top six finishing positions, with drivers who have backgrounds in dirt-track racing. The Cup Series will head to Martinsville Speedway next.
Next week, we have Indycar at Long Beach, plus the IMSA Sports Cars at the same track. Moto GP is back at COTA. Tiff is also racing at the Goodwood Members Meeting!
