Flashback Friday | #242: America’s Never-Ending State Of Emergency

American legislatures have found themselves addicted to the power and lack of scrutiny that comes with the declaration of a “State of Emergency''. The American government is lazy and evil, so any chance those in DC have to enact rules for “me” and not for “thee”, they jump on it. Especially because during emergencies, the barrier for enacting massive changes is much lower than during so-called “normal” times.
When the government is given extraordinary powers during times of emergency they will continue to seek out new “emergencies” that can be used to retain those extraordinary powers. COVID was a fantastic recent example of what can be done to the Constitution during times of perceived emergencies, so just think of what might be in store for Americans when the next issue comes around.
