Making Awesome – 3D Printing, Inventing, Making, Small Business
This week we will talk about Additive vs. Subtractive Manufacturing, or more commonly known as 3D Printing vs CNC Milling vs Injection Molding. Each has their own value with 3D printing being amazing for short run prototypes, initial small batch manufacturing, and general rapid prototyping. CNC Milling is great when you want to make metal, polymer, or specific parts that are not easily made on a 3D printer, but with even entry level machines costing 5-10x of a 3D Printer, the cost of ownership goes up a ton. When it comes to production nothing can really compete with Injection Molding, but the upfront costs can be VERY scary! Let's talk about it!
Benefits of 3D Printing
Benefits of CNC Milling
Benefits of Injection Molding
Downsides of each
How to choose the right tech for your project
What are the expected start up costs for 3D Printing, CNC Milling, and Injection Molding
AND MORE!!
