Don't be like water making its way onto endcaps. Do be assertive, but adjust to the customer's preferences, and you shall find a way onto shelves and into tap lines. If nothing within you stays hazy, outward things will disclose themselves to be bottom fermented. Empty your mind, be untradeable. Overabundant, like water (unless you live in California then, please, conserve water). If you put water into a cup, it becomes a marketing campaign that you get sued by AB InBev for. You put a barrel-aged stout into a bottle and it becomes a bottle that you can flip for expensive expedition gear. You put it in a teapot, well now you have beer in a teapot and that's weird. Now, beer can flow or it can sit in your linen closet until it's past it's prime and no one cares anymore except for people like Alex. Don't be like water, my friend, and drink your beer.

Alex and Michael invite comedian Nick Gligor back on the pod to drink some mezcal. In beer news, Alex breaks down the newly enacted New Jersey brewery law single-handedly making it even more difficult to like the state. In the mezcal throwdown, they drink mezcals from Del Maguey, Banhez, Yuu Baal, and Codigo 1530 and crown their favorite. They also eat worm salt and play a game in which the winner wins a jug of crickets.

For this one, we invite Deanna Belos from Sincere Engineer on the show to talk about Chicago and drink malort. She and the Malty Boyz drink a Cantillon they apparently weren't supposed to, they talk about chalk beer, and then they do an all Chicago-based bottle share with Second City meadery, Keeping Together, and Jeppson's Malort.

The malty boyz are missing a boyz but the show must go on. Stephen is somewhere out in the world on a #wanderlust, so Alex and Michael are locking it down doing what they know best: so so bits and phoned in beer reviews. We will never change.
On this one we’ve got beers from Good Word, New Groove Brewing, and Monkish. We talk about Stone hopefully almost for the last time and we dust off the AB InBev vs Coors corn syrup controversy after a few years.

Then it's New Money vs Old Money when anniversary beers from Allagash Brewing Company, Central Waters Brewing, Brasserie Fantôme, Firestone Walker Brewing Company, Jackie O's, Fonta Flora Brewery, Fremont Brewing, McIlhenney Brewing Company, Moksa Brewing, Revolution Brewing, and Triple Crossing Beer do battle. Due to unforseen CiRcUmStAnCeS, the Malty Boyz™ record this episode in the "dark" because Alex's internet goes out. With no Zoom video to reference, they must record using only the sound of their own not-so-soothing voices. In the Beer News, Selin's Grove says goodbye after 25 years of brewing, a New York brewery raffles off an AR-15, and Arby's releases a smoked bacon bourbon. Alex ticks a Fantome he's been chasing for over a decade followed by another linen closet deep cut for the Bottleshare. Michael continues Ohio beer month. Stephen brings on another barleywine from Virginia but it's not from Aslin this time.

That's right, in an unprecedented event, the Malty Boyz™ coincidently take the low ABV route starting with an non-alcoholic beverage hop infused beverage from Mikerphone. In the Beer News, Modern Times is on the auction block, the Boyz learn about North Carolina obscenity laws, and Miller Lite releases a product that does not have Sofia Colucci's fingerprints on it.

Banana cream pie, Mexican chocolate pie, black pepper cherry pie, and strawberry pie go up against their beer counterparts represented by Corporate Ladder Brewing Company, Dark Sky Brewing Company, Bond Brothers Beer Company, and Revolution Brewing. Stephen puts Michael in the Malt Seat for a round of pie trivia to win more pie. In the Beer News, is non-alcoholic beer the new Smooj?

The craft beer industry is forced to confront issues it's long overlooked or flat out ignored after head brewer Brienne Allan asked the question “What sexist comments have you experienced?” on her Instagram (@ratmagnet). What followed was thousands of stories from beer industry workers about the sexism, misogyny, and sexual abuse they experience far too regularly, often times on a daily basis. Stories about working in breweries, working with distributors, and dealing with management and regulars in bars and restaurants. Terminations and resignations followed from breweries big and small. We also look at how larger beer entities like the Brewers Association have responded as well as examine how niche craft beer communities such as the Beer Advocate messageboards are reacting.
