In this weeks update, it is our great pleasure to announce that Rodrigo Mourão has been promoted to Deputy Editor of the Mass Timber Construction Journal. Paul Kremer said "Rodrigo has proven himself to be a worthwhile leader in the field of mass timber. His tireless dedication and support for our sector has resulted in the recognition he deserves. I look forward to many more years working with Rodrigo and our efforts to make mass timber mainstream". On October 26-28, the Canadian Green Building Council (CaGBC) will honour four buildings at the Building Lasting Change conference for their environmental performance, low carbon emissions, human health factors and occupant satisfaction. MEC Vancouver (above), a mass-timber building near the city’s Olympic Village, has won in the category of New Construction. In addition to its water reuse and conservation features, the project’s design contributes nearly twice as much energy to the Neighbourhood Energy Utility as it consumes. The World Architecture Festival has named the eight finalists for its 2021 Timber Prize. Check them out above. The competition, which aims to showcase and reward oustanding wooden construction around the world, saw entrants from 13 countries and 28 different architecture firms and project teams.
