Conversations with Alice Jones: Elective cesarean's, preparation, recovery + maternal cardiac condition

49 min • 26 november 2021
In todays episode our host Mon speaks with Melbourne based Mumma Alice jones on her experience into motherhood. Alice is a midwife herself who has supported many women through a vaginal birth and had always envisioned that for herself, but throughout her own pregnancy she developed a cardiac condition where as a result her heart wouldn't be able to cope with labour, leading to her being booked in for an elective caesarean. Alice talks us though some of the emotions she experienced when consenting to the c-section as well as shares some strategies to best prepare for the day and tips to promote recovery. Alice went on to have another repeat elective cesarean 15 months later and discusses some of the challenges when caring for not only a newborn but a toddler too. Like always Mon's aim in this episode is to educate you about this topic but also always encourages you to seek your own medical advice from your healthcare provider.
