This week, I am bringing you my interview with Denaye Barahona. Denaye is host of the Simple Families Podcast and is author of the new book Simple Happy Parenting. Her refreshing approach to minimalism and parenting is professional yet warm. She believes in a holistic approach to helping the whole family; living well through cultivating a healthy relationship with yourself, family and home. I’ve enjoyed listening to her podcast over the last several years and can’t wait to talk with her today about the idea of ‘less-is-more’ when parenting.
We discuss:
- A definition of simple, happy parenting
- How do we step away from a skittish mindset and move towards a more free, relaxed relationship with our children?
- Some would argue: “Isn’t our job to protect our children from any difficulties that are in our control?” How would you respond?
- Is the 'less-is-more' parenting approach only a trend?
- How we can parent with a ‘less-is-more’ mentality when it comes to:
- Food/Mealtimes
- Free play at home
- Manners
- Sleep
- Playground
- School
- The Outdoors
Let’s keep the conversation going on our Facebook page or Instagram!
