This week, Chanty brings you the story of Carly Simon, based on her memoir "Boys In The Trees".
Carly grew up in a seemingly idyllic setting, with her family splitting their time between Greenwich Village and Martha's Vineyard and having Wednesday night sing-alongs around the piano. All was not as it seems, however, as the Simon family was one full of trauma and tragedy. Carly's upbringing inspired her songwriting that explores issues of love, crime, secrecy, vulnerability, monsters, beasts, love and longing.
In this episode, you'll also learn about some of Carly's muses (expected and unexpected!), steamy relationships (ahem, Cat Stevens!) and what exactly went on between her and Mick Jagger. We talk about her songwriting process, marriage to James Taylor and much more.
