Notes: The book we referenced, 31 Songs, is also called Songbook and was written by Nick Hornby (who also wrote High Fidelity). To be clear, Tom Verlaine not Richard Lloyd was Patti Smith's ex-boyfriend, and her "thousand bluebirds screaming" description was primarily in reference to Verlaine's playing.
