Asatro, Runes & Nordic Shamanism: Galðr & Seiðr w/ The Völva from Ribe / Vølven fra Ribe

Gudrun Victoria Gotved - aka The Völva from Ribe / Vølven fra Ribe - became active in the Viking community and reenactment in 1996, and since she is both knowledgeable in Asatru and well-versed in the written sources, and interested in alternative medicine and herbs, it quickly became her "role" to be a völva. She is also an author and has written two books in Danish; "Asatro - Nordisk Spiritualitet" and "Asatro – de gamle guder i moderne tider". She works at Ribe Vikinge Centre as a communicator, in charge of the pagan rituals and works there with the runes as well as privately. She also works with the Galðr (the magical songs) as a traditional völva, and she offers coaching and advice using the runes in person or online.   

In this interview, we discuss asatro, blot sacrifice, working with the runes, the völva, galðr versus plant medicine, seiðr rituals, the Glavendrup Rune Stone and Trelleborg Viking Fortress, and rediscovered forgotten knowledge from the pre-Christian traditions of Scandinavia.
