Guest Host Daniel Brant, Daniel J. Brant & Associates (Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory, ON) is joined by our two guest speakers, Federica Caso, Lecturer - La Trobe University and Grazia Scoppio, Professor - RMC Canada. Federica and Grace discuss their latest research and recent article “Indigenous participation in the Canadian Armed Forces: Efforts towards Reconciliation?”.

Federica Caso was born in Sardegna, a Mediterranean island belonging to Italy, where she developed intimate familiarity with questions of militarism and cultural self-determination. She researches the relationship between Defence and settler colonialism which she gathers under the concept of ‘settler military politics’.

Grazia Scoppio is a Professor in the Department of Defence Studies at the Royal Military College of Canada and is cross-appointed in the Queen’s University Department of Political Studies. Her interdisciplinary research areas include: diversity and gender in military organizations, indigenous people and the military, organizational culture, migration & military education.

Stéfanie von Hlatky joins our host Katherine Rossy to discuss her recent trip to the NATO Washington Summit and how WPS research fits into NATO's policies going forward.

Stéfanie von Hlatky is the Canada Research Chair in Gender, Security, and the Armed Forces and Full Professor in the Department of Political Studies at Queen’s University. Her research focuses on NATO, gender and the armed forces, military interventions, and defence policy.

DR. HOWARD G. COOMBS is an Associate Professor of History at the Royal Military College of Canada and Director of the Queen’s Centre for International and Defence Policy, both in Kingston, Ontario. He is also a part-time Canadian Army reservist with the Canadian Defence Academy, also located in Kingston.

CIDP Fellow & Former Director Kim R. Nossal hosts today's episode. Joining him is George Takach, who shares details from his new book "Cold War 2.0: Artificial Intelligence in the new Battle Between China, Russia, and America".

George S. Takach is a graduate of the University of Toronto (including IEP, Aix-en-Provence) (BA), the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs (MA), and the Faculty of Law University of Toronto.

Host Yolande Bouka (Assistant Professor, Political Studies, Queen's University) is joined by guest Megan MacKenzie to discuss her book "Good Soldiers Don't Rape"

Megan MacKenzie is a feminist scholar interested in war, security studies, post-conflict recovery and reconstruction, and military culture. Her work is broadly focused on the ways that gender matters in understanding war and insecurity and the ways that experiences of war and insecurity are shaped by gendered norms and sexism.

Host Yolande Bouka (Assistant Professor, Political Studies, Queen's University) is joined by guest Jessica Auchter to discuss her book "Global Corpse Politics: The Obscenity Taboo".

Jessica is a Full Professor at the Graduate School of International Studies at Université Laval, her research is on visual culture and politics. Her current research program is on the visual representation of atrocity and corpses and human rights in international studies.
