One Journey (A One Piece Podcast)

This week on our journey starts its trek through the Alabasta desert. We get to see the strength of Ace and learn about why he is chasing the man named Blackbeard. We also learn about Ace joining the Whitebeard pirates, and inviting Luffy and company to join. On our desert journey, we find towns taken by the desert, and the dangerous creatures of the Desert. To defeat Crocodile, we have to get to him first. Who will make it to the destination, and will we make it in time to prevent the war.

“It is too early. The hole is too big. Sadness washes over me when I think that I will never see him again. 

I have admired him so much since I was a child, so I remember the day he called me my name for the first time. On the way home from the day you used the word “friend” for me and Kishimoto (Naruto author), I remember being overjoyed with Kishimoto. I also remember the last conversation we had. 

I was one of those who took the baton from the days when reading manga made you a fool, and he also created an era when both adults and children could enjoy reading manga. He showed us the dream that manga can go worldwide. It was like watching a hero going forward. 

For not only mangakas but also creators in various industries, the excitement and emotion of the time of Dragon Ball serialization must have taken root in their childhood. His existence is like a big tree. 

For the manga artists of our generation who stood on the same stage, Toriyama’s works became more and more important to me as I got closer to the same stage. I even felt scared. But I am just happy to see the aloof man himself again. Because we love him on a blood level. 

With respect and gratitude for the creative world he has left behind. I pray for his soul to rest in peace. May heaven be the joyous world he envisioned.”

Smoker, a man with a devil fruit who witnessed Roger's execution, and Tashigi, a female swordsman who dreams of collecting all 21 great swords.

Unfortunately this new crews reign on the sea does not last long as they are defeated by the Kumate tribe. While being boiled alive the crew is saved by their former captain Buggy and everyone is reunited. Long Live the Buggy Pirates!

This week our journey shows us Nami's past. We meet her mother figure Bellemere who is a former Marine who discovered Nami and Nojiko on a battlefield. After rescuing the girls, she takes them to her home in Cocoyashi Village and begins raising her daughters until the Arlong Pirates show up and start demanding tributes be paid for people's survival. Sacrificing herself to save her daughters, Bellemere loses her life, and Nami joins the Arlong Pirates to buy back her village. In the present Arlong betrays Namis trust and has the Marines steal her treasure. Unable to hold back her tears, Nami finally asks for Luffy's help. Thus begins the Walk to Arlong Park.

This week our journey takes us through episodes 20-22 where we meet a plethora of characters. Ranging from the cool suave Sanji, to the maniacal and evil Don Krieg. After being attacked by Johnny the crew learns of the dangers that one faces on the ocean without someone who understands nutrition. Luckily Nami has the basics, but Luffy is now determined to find a cook. Lucky for him, Johnny and Yosaku know just the place. The Baratie! Now on our way there the crew has their first run in with the marines since defeating Axe Hand Morgan. This leads to damage and injuries to the Baratie and the head chef Zeff. Luffy must now work as a chore boy for a year or pay off the damages. During our time here Sanji helps a starving Pirate named Gin. An underling of Krieg. Grateful for his help Gin returns with Krieg and begs for help again. Sanji unable to turn a blind eye to a starving person feeds him, but is quickly betrayed as Krieg plans to take the Baratie for himself and his new conquests.

This week our journey has a guest. Introducing Kendra who goes along with us through One Piece: Defeat the Pirate Ganzack OVA and One Piece the Movie (aka Movie 1). In Ganzack we cheer one a little girl who stood on business and would throw hands to save her father. This week our journey takes us through one piece episodes 11-13. Where we begin to counter Captain Kuros nefarious plot, and come up with ways to protect Syrup Village. Only problem is we didn't plan to stop the pirates on the north shore. Only the south shore.

Now in a race against time, our heroes make their way over to begin the fight. After arriving they Usopp and Nami do what they can to by time. With just enough time left, Luffy and Zoro arrive and begin the counterattack, but Luffys dimwitted soul falls victim to Jangos hypnotism and Zoro ends up on the defensive against the Meowban brothers. Plus Captain Kuro has arrived and is ready to kill.

This week our journey takes us through live action episode 7 where the guys learn about Nami and her backstory, while we all get to have some laughs about compound words and odd camera cutting choices.

I once again apologize for the episode issues. It was our first late night recording session and we were very tired.

This week we our journey finishes up at the Baratie. We get up close and personal with the fishmen, and find out theirs a traitor in our midst. This all coming on the heels of Zoros duel with Mihawk has left the Strawhat Crew in a mess. With one crewmate down, another gone, and a new cook joining our crew, what will Luffy do next?

Unfortunately, No Victor once again. Work you know :'(. But, the rest of us continue our journey through the live action One Piece adaptation with episode 5. The introduction of Mihawk and Sanji seems to have the cast excited, but what will become of our crew as it begins to fall apart at the seams. Also, stick around after the show for our little blooper reel of things i found funny throughout the episode. And don't forget to follow 3:33 and thank them for creating our opening parody.

We continue our live action journey through One Piece as we make our way to Syrup Village, and meet Captain Usopp. He then introduces us to his childhood friend Kaya, so the crew can get their hands on a ship. Only for us to learn that her butler Klahadore may not have pure intentions. Two of our three main characters are out of commission, how will they make it out of this situation.

We are so sorry for the technical difficulties. But this week we cover Live Action Episode 2. Where we go over Luffy, Nami, and Zoros journey through Orange Town. Where they meet Buggy the Clown and witness our next devil fruit. Does our crew stand a chance at stopping someone so powerful? Plus Shanks and crew begin to show why Luffy was so inspired by them, and how they break the traditional definition of what it means to be a pirate.

For our journeys introduction to the universe of One Piece, we thought we'd start with the recently release One Piece Live Action on Netflix, Episode 1 Romance Dawn. We discuss what we see and what the newbies think, while doing our best to keep it spoiler free. Please let us know if there are any tips for recording or editing that you know may help us improve.
