In this fifth week of Lent, we feature a paralytic whose four friends lowered him through a roof to be healed by Jesus.
The value of friendship is discussed and what it means to “carry a friend.” Paralysis can be physical but also can occur emotionally and spiritually in response to challenges faced. In Unbound Ministry, we come alongside a person and let the Lord do His work.
Jenn, Jacqueline, and Lisa imagine being immersed in this scene as one of the characters – the paralyzed man, or one of his friends, or the homeowner whose roof was opened up. Or perhaps as someone in the crowd where “amazement seized them all,” and even what it might have felt like to be Jesus in that moment.
Jesus demonstrated His divinity by first forgiving the man’s sins. He perceived the reaction of the Pharisees and saw what was in their hearts. He knows the thoughts and intents of our hearts too.
Carrying a friend can involve big events and hard moments, but even with small acts of help we can help to carry someone.

Zacchaeus was a wee little man, a wee little man was he; He climbed up in a sycamore tree for the Lord he wanted to see…
Many of us remember singing this Sunday School song which speaks of a short man named Zacchaeus who was a rich tax collector and wanted badly to catch sight of Jesus. We know Zacchaeus’ name because Jesus spoke it upon seeing him in the tree, stops the parade of people, and invites himself to Zacchaeus’ house. This was a scandalous idea because the practice of the Pharisees was not to cross the threshold of a tax collector and sinner’s home. But Jesus wasn’t scandalized.
As we seek Him, Jesus meets us where we are and enters in. He wants to come to our home and visit each room.
It just takes one encounter with Jesus to completely reconfigure one’s life and bring a person to greater freedom and transformation of heart.
Matt says he would give the story this subtitle: “I thought I was searching for Jesus, but I found he was searching for me.”

Welcome to the third episode of the Open Doors Lenten podcast series covering various Stories of Conversion. This week, Neal, Lisa, and Jacqueline gather for a poignant dialogue surrounding the story of a woman healed from twelve years of hemorrhaging. The profound poverty of this woman is discussed and why the constraints of the Levitical Law would have caused her such desperation.
“And then she heard about Jesus,” says Neal, “And she grabs hold of it!” The woman verbalizes her belief that Jesus can heal her and merges herself into the throng to merely touch his cloak.
The idea of preparation is discussed within the story and related to preparing for an Unbound session. What should we focus on if we aren’t sure what the Holy Spirit is showing us? Neal emphasizes how verbalizing something brings about conviction.
The words of Jesus have such meaning here – words like the question, “Who touched me?” and the reassurance, “Daughter, your faith has saved you.” The woman – an individual in the crowd – was healed, yes, but more importantly touched by the Father’s love. Neal reminds us that as we hear, we can then respond, take a risk, receive, and give testimony.
We encourage you to hear and personally respond to this podcast!

We’re blessed with a Lozano trio this second week of Lent as Jenn, Matt, and Janet discuss a story found in three of the four gospels. It’s about a boy who suffered from an evil spirit that would cast him to the ground, cause him to foam at the mouth, and even throw him into the fire! This story embodies healing — physical healing of the boy but also the healing exchange between the boy’s father and Jesus.
Desperate, the boy’s father cried out to Jesus, “Have compassion on us!” He included himself in the request. And Jesus’ mercy shows in His response which resulted in the father’s words that have resonated through the ages, “I do believe, help my unbelief!”
Human interaction was so important to Jesus. In the same way, Unbound Ministry involves compassionate human interaction with people as we speak and seek the power of Jesus.
Join us as we ponder the depths of love, faith, and compassion that are shown in this passage.

What happens when someone is excited about their encounter with Jesus and runs to tell a friend? What happens when we meet the Lord and realize anew that He sees and knows us?
The Open Doors Lent 2025 series begins with talk of Nathaniel who voiced the now-famous question, “Can anything good come from Nazareth?”
But once Nathaniel meets Jesus, his tune changes and he says, “Here truly is an Israelite in whom there is no deceit.”
“The invitation and the yes to the invitation is so much greater than we may even realize,” says Jacqueline.
Jenn makes a significant comparison between Jacob of the Old Testament and Jesus, based upon the words of Nathaniel.
And Lisa shares what she learned about the meaning of the phrase, “Under the Fig Tree.”
Jesus is El Roi – the God who sees. He sees us and helps us to see truth more clearly. Jenn exclaims, “He’s our bi-focals!!”

On this Valentine’s Day, what do a Naval Academy graduate and a personal organizer have in common?
The same alma mater, 37 years of marriage, four children, and a heart for Unbound ministry! In this episode, you’ll meet Sandy and Denise MacMurtrie and hear their faith-filled Unbound story.
“Hi, I’m Denise!” she said. And so began their first conversation in the 1980’s while at Villanova University.
“We still joke about that night,” says Sandy as he and Denise share where they were back then, where God is taking them, and where they hope to go on this life journey of faith.
Shortly after Unbound was published, Sandy and Denise attended a conference and subsequently served as intercessors. Denise says that over the years, praying the Five Keys in her own devotions was foundational for her faith life.
Two decades later with children grown, they thought of Unbound ministry often, saying to one another, “We should do this.”
“Then we got this mailing about the Leadership Conference,” says Sandy. That was two years ago and today both the MacMurtries are key leaders on Heart of the Father’s local ministry team.
You will be encouraged while listening to Sandy and Denise. Theirs is a story which shows two hearts filled with love for God, for each other, and for those to whom they minister!

Do recent box office earnings and award ceremonies indicate a growing cultural interest in infernal supernatural forces? Should we be concerned?
Check out this serious and solid episode that defines the occult and offers compelling reasons why people turn to it. The occult involves acts of the will which give an invitation to the spiritual realm. The good news? Within Unbound prayer these can and need to be revoked.
Matt provides examples and tips for praying the Five Keys when someone has a history of occult practices. “It’s a combination of compassion and encouragement,” offers Matt.
Jenn emphasizes the importance of listening to someone’s story and blessing their identity – reminding them that they belong to the family of God. They are searching and longing for something.
Many people in today’s culture are growing up unchurched but still desire a connection to the spiritual world. The occult can bring about what Matt calls the “catechesis of demons.” A person needs to be untied so they can give their “yes” to the Lord.
Pop Quiz:
1. Whom should we treat like an annoying little brother?
2. Who were the very first occultists?
3. What Biblical event inspired the title of Neal Lozano’s book Unbound?

Meet the warm and encouraging Maria Kamenstein, a retired educator, church volunteer, and experienced Unbound leader who is currently writing her spiritual memoir.
Maria (pronounced /ma-rye-ah/) tells of her Quaker roots in rural Iowa, college days in the 1960’s, falling in love with her husband Dana, and moving to Philadelphia. When marital conflict left Maria downhearted, she went home to Iowa for a visit and found her younger brothers involved with the Jesus Movement. “They were all out for Jesus,” says Maria. She was drawn to their peace, joy, and centeredness.
Maria went home and began to read and pray. She asked God about her marriage and felt like the Lord brought to mind her wedding vows and said, “You made a promise. Stick to it.”
Maria replied, “Okay God, but you’ll have to make it work because we can’t.” Surrendering to God brought change within that altered the dynamics in her marriage, resulting in less conflict.
After years of prayer by many people, one day Maria’s husband Dana - who is Jewish - said to Maria, “I need to know about God.” He began attending church with her.
Dana, a psychologist, was interested in Unbound as a source of healing support to people. He began attending Unbound conferences and, in time, Maria joined him. “Then Neal and Janet started teaching people how to do Unbound sessions. We started doing Unbound prayer with people,“ says Maria.
Retired for five years now, Maria is an active leader in Unbound prayer both in-person and via Zoom. “It has been such a privilege to do God’s work in this way,” she says. She describes Unbound as being a very gentle, thoughtful, supportive way to help people with “throwing the baggage off the cliff!”

Downright dynamic – that describes Jack Matney’s journey both as a Christian and now as an Unbound leader.
Jack’s candid, honest testimony tells how he met his wife, his church journey, and how his parish priest pressed him to receive Unbound prayer. “We did the Unbound thing,” says Jack. “We were at Worldgate in Herndon sitting on chairs in the middle of a giant hallway.” This proved life-changing for Jack as he
prayed through unresolved trauma from his childhood and experienced a profound vision. “There was Jesus!” he states.
An attorney, business leader and father, Jack now has added Unbound ministry to his repertoire. He took the Unbound Basic Training Ecourse at his priest’s suggestion and soon thereafter was asked to start an Unbound ministry team at his parish. He speaks of his reticence. “Can I do it? Will I mess it up?” and other questions of inadequacy flooded Jack. But he felt the Lord was telling him that he just needed to show up.
Jack often asks the Lord for a word prior to leading an Unbound session. Learn what word the Lord has been giving him recently and how it means something different than one might think.

Don’t miss this captivating episode as Neal Lozano hosts Capuchin Franciscan friar Fr. Diogo Escudero who serves the Brazilian and Portuguese communities in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.
Fr. Diogo remembers first experiencing Unbound in 2015 as a seminarian and being prayed for by Neal. He knew it was something he needed personally, and it was the beginning of a journey.
First serving under Msgr. Stephen Rosetti at the St. Michael’s Center for Spiritual Renewal when in Washington, D.C., Fr. Diogo shares what first drew him to deliverance ministry and how he finds the Unbound model especially unique and helpful.
The book Unbound became available in Portuguese in 2023 soon after Fr. Diogo arrived in Philadelphia to pastor the Brazilian and Portuguese community estimated at upwards of 40,000 people.
“Once I came to Philadelphia, the Lord sent me someone who really needed help…We did the Father’s blessing [and] this person completely was transformed,” shares Fr. Diogo. “I began seeing this tremendous grace as a priest using the Unbound model.”
Last spring, Fr. Diogo held the first Portuguese Unbound conference in the Philadelphia area. Registration quickly reached capacity with attendees from the whole region, around the country, and more wanting to attend.
Fr. Diogo recognizes the blessing of training others in Unbound while noting some unique challenges within Brazilian culture. He stressed the importance of being connected to a community.
At the end, Fr. Diogo shares what his dreams are for Unbound and beyond.
Can you guess what image Fr. Diogo saw in his mind when first inquiring about getting the book Unbound? Find out what that image was and how it was confirmed to him when you listen!

Meet Amanda and Jonathan Teixeira, cofounders of WalletWin, a ministry that helps folks in all stages of life improve their finances while getting at some of the deeper places of the heart!
Learn the Teixeiras’ story – how they met and what inspired them to start a finance ministry.
Matt shares how finances can reveal heart issues and often come up in Unbound sessions. Wounds, mistrust, and family history can all bring about devastating patterns of financial behavior.
Jonathan tells of his own history of “bank-balance budgeting” and his path toward creating a different type of budget. Once married, he and Amanda allowed finances to become a unifying component rather than a wedge of division.
The Teixeiras help couples struggling with finances to speak a common language about money and make it fun through ideas like having a “budget party.”
We hear intriguing terms such as “money milestones” and “maximum fruitfulness,” ideas that suggest healthy, goal-oriented money management. People learn how to eliminate debt, live on one income, buy a home, and pay cash for a vehicle.
Amanda speaks of concrete ways students have won in their personal finances, saying the stories that touch deepest are those where people express joy at being able to bless others.
Question: What message did Jonathan and Amanda get while on their honeymoon in Cancun?

Join with Neal, Jacqueline and Lisa in conversation surrounding Advent Four’s scripture readings from Micah, Psalms, Hebrews, and Luke.
Neal describes how captivating he found the Gospel reading, pondering the moment John the Baptist leapt in his mother’s womb and Elizabeth’s joy-filled response.
“Did John leap first or was Elizabeth filled with the Holy Spirit when she declared with a loud voice what God had put in her?” Neal wonders.
John the Baptist carried the joy of the Lord even before seeing Him! We also cannot fully see Jesus but we carry the joy of the Savior and His promise to come again and make things new.
“What will we be like when we see Jesus?” Neal ponders. He speaks of the lame man who upon being healed began walking, leaping, and praising God.
Lisa relates the promise to her recent Grand Canyon trip and a path called “Bright Angel Trail.” Talk about angels ensues. “Angels are God’s instruments,” says Neal, “and the Holy Spirit is happy to work through them.”

Have a listen as Jenn, Matt, and Jacqueline share personal examples and meaningful reflections based upon scriptures from the third week in Advent. These passages from Zephaniah, Isaiah, Philippians, and Luke, all exhort us to rejoice!
Sometimes our circumstances don’t feel joyful but Jesus offers us inestimable joy within the hidden place as we get to know him more deeply.
When people receive Unbound prayer, they go after what is hidden and ask the Lord to meet them in that place. The message we have to offer is, “Rejoice, He has removed judgment against you and has turned away your enemies!”
Matt shares how there is always a “here” and a “not yet” for all of God’s promises. With the Lord in our midst, Christians live in a healthy tension of always being able to rejoice in Christ even amidst difficult circumstances.
Jacqueline likens Jesus to a quarterback who at times of loss is saying “Huddle up, Huddle up. I’m right here and I’m going to tell you what to do.” He is near us in difficult times as we seek Him.
In this episode, Matt tells us what kitchen process is likened to baptism. Listen to find out what that is!

Experience a joy-filled dialogue between Lisa, Jenn, and Janet as they ponder four scriptures which speak of promise, confidence, hope, and joy for the second week of Advent.
The passage from Luke shows how an unknown person, John the Baptist, was called from the desert to be the courier for the King of Kings. He was a hinge, opening the way, and a voice crying in the desert, exhorting people to prepare their own hearts for the Lord.
John the Baptist was humble, as was the Savior. Humility is part of an Unbound session, along with God’s grace, as someone makes room in their heart for Jesus. There is a stillness required in seeking and knowing the Lord.
A theme through all four of the scriptures was one of joy. Jerusalem is exhorted to take off their robe of mourning and misery and put on the splendor of the glory of God, suggesting restoration. In Philippians, Paul prays with joy for those to whom he was writing. And the Psalm speaks ecstatically of the great things God has done.
The podcast closes collectively with a responsorial reading of Psalm 126 as listeners are invited to respond aloud saying, “The Lord has done great things for us! We are filled with joy!”

We’re thrilled to begin our Advent series, reflecting upon scriptures surrounding the coming of Jesus whether it be as a baby, into our hearts, or His second coming.
Advent is a time of preparation that can be frenetic with activity and yet we are challenged be still before the Lord as we consider his coming to earth.
Lisa emphasizes the heartfelt response of Psalm 25, “To you O Lord, I lift up my soul,” as a way we posture ourselves to prepare our hearts for the Lord.
Jenn wonders it was like to be one of the disciples. Did they know the One speaking to them was the anticipated Messiah?
Jacqueline gives an example from home life of preparation and expectation in relation to “cleaning up” any thoughts that might hinder our anticipation the Lord’s arrival.
The word “vigilant” is mentioned with the idea of moving towards the Lord, turning our faces towards Him, and being in constant communion with him.
Jenn concludes with a powerful passage from Daniel, encouraging us to keep our heads raised in hopeful expectation of meeting Jesus in this season.
Two questions:
1. What can each of us do this week to anticipate Jesus’ coming?
2. Can you guess what tradition Jenn kids take part in every Christmas Eve?

Experience the Father’s Blessing with a sweet listen as Neal shares from his deep well of experience and wisdom regarding the extraordinary Fifth Key of Unbound.
The enemy always works to steal our identity and destiny, wanting to lead us deeper and deeper into loneliness and isolation. An Unbound Ministry session allows for restoration of our identity and healing of our heart.
Healing is an integral part of deliverance ministry. A prayer recipient feels embraced and accepted while being led through the Five Keys into freedom. “We are His beloved, His chosen, His favorites,” says Neal.
Scriptures from Colossians and Genesis show the Father’s longing for His children and his desire to transfer us from the kingdom of darkness into the Kingdom of the Beloved Son.
Both Neal and Lisa share fascinating examples of encouragement from the Lord during The Father’s Blessing. When words of blessing penetrate the heart, a life can be changed.
“It’s so important to learn about the Fifth Key and try to go deeper,” shares Neal. “I still want to go deeper and be better at speaking into someone’s heart the things of God .”

Warm, wise, compassionate, and oh so real! Meet Emily Wilson, Heart of the Father’s newest team member.
Emily, our Resources and Sales Coordinator, hails from California’s Bay Area but has embraced Philly and loves to “talk about the Eagles, eat a cheesesteak, and ride public transportation home.”
A graduate of Villanova University and the Augustine Institute, Emily has been a missionary in Honduras (she’s fluent in Spanish!) and also worked as a parish Director of Religious Education. “And then the Lord called me to Philly,” smiles Emily. “He was asking me to take on a new mission.” That mission is called Christ in the City, a Denver-based ministry with a Philadelphia branch where she helps young adult missionaries deepen their relationship with Christ and reach out to the homeless.
We learn about Christ in City’s unique approach and what led Emily to Heart of the Father where she leads Unbound ministry sessions and now serves on staff.
“I had such a beautiful experience, at the conference, of gratitude for the vulnerability that people share in these sessions and their trust in the Father’s goodness. I became captivated by a God who sets captives free.”
Emily speaks of the “lightbulb moment” when people recognize they have believed a lie and take Jesus’ hand to walk in a new way. “Jesus has already won the victory and I’m just inviting people to step into that victory,” she declares.
Feeling hungry? Learn Emily’s favorite place to buy a cheesesteak and what variety she loves most.

If you aren’t yet acquainted with Dr. Christopher West, President of Theology of the Body Institute, this episode is your golden opportunity. The passion with which Dr. West speaks is infectious and amazing.
Dr. West answers deep questions surrounding this year’s Open Doors podcast theme of “Come and See.” He tells about hearing a song at age eight and how a rock star taught him to pray, setting him on a path of longing and seeking.
We then hear of West’s camp experience at age fifteen and how his view of the gospel as a starvation diet, caused him to say, “No thanks!”
West shares about being broken and grieving at age twenty from a painful relationship breakup, the beautiful witness of his brother, and the point when he confessed faith in Christ – falling on his knees and asking God to show him what to do with this inner longing.
At about age 40, Dr. West realized he had spent much of his life clinging to what he calls “false infinities.” In that experience, God brought to his mind a boyhood fishing trip with his father where a fish swallowed the hook and West explains how that hook exemplifies the lie of the enemy.
Last, we learn what the Lord is inviting Dr. Christopher West to come and see today at his current age of fifty-five.
While listening, we are personally challenged by Matt’s thought-provoking questions, most importantly, “Who do you say Jesus is?”

Following last week’s podcast with Dr. Mary Healy, we listen to Jenn and Matt discuss the issue of authority, taking it to a personal level.
Jenn reflects on how Romans 6: 8-11 relates to authority and she references Chapter 12 of Abba’s Heart. We hear about an individual who, after receiving healing through Unbound prayer, was later able to use her voice and speak out with authority.
Matt defines authority, saying it comes from knowing who the Father is and understanding our relationship with Him.
We are encouraged to start small by taking what God has entrusted to us - things, talents, resources - and practice walking in authority in those areas that we know to be our responsibility. The enemy’s tactic is to turn our thoughts inward and work to protect ourselves.
Because we are Son’s and Daughters of the Father, we can speak the Fourth Key with authority and do so safely, stepping back and looking at the big picture.

Dr. Mary Healy Explains The Fourth Key: The Command
Meet Matt’s “go-to theologian,” the best-selling author and international speaker Dr. Mary Healy, Professor of Scripture at Sacred Heart Major Seminary in Detroit, general editor of the Catholic Commentary on Sacred Scripture, and more.
This episode helps Christians of all backgrounds explore common questions and concerns regarding the Fourth Key of Unbound: The Command.
Does a lay person have the authority to command demons? Dr. Healy distinguishes between private exorcism and the rite of exorcism, which is reserved only for Bishops and specifically-authorized priests.
She gives scriptures and examples surrounding the Fourth Key, also known as adjuration, which means to command someone in the name of a higher authority.
Dr. Healy lists numerous resources for those wishing to explore this aspect of deliverance ministry further, saying “Hardly a week goes by that I don’t recommend that book to some person or group somewhere in the world.” Can you guess what “that book” is? She also describes how to put oneself in a
spiritually dangerous position. The answer is not what you might guess!
Be sure to listen to the very end to hear Dr. Healy’s eloquent and powerful concluding prayer.

In this episode, Jenn hosts Neal as they discuss the reasons why Renunciation, the Third Key of Unbound, is so important.
So you're following Jesus, and there's something in your life that doesn't belong to you and in that relationship you have with Him. Well, it's a good time to consider renunciation!
Renunciation means that, in the name of Jesus, we break with any ties which are not of God – saying in essence, “I’m done with this!”
The need for renunciation occurs when there is something in one’s life that doesn’t belong – things like sinful patterns, lies, fears, and unholy attachments. We can renounce these things using the great power that comes from Jesus’ name. Renunciation is a normal part of a Christian's life.
Satan, our enemy, is the father of lies and Neal explains how this plays out into one’s thought life. When we host deception and lies about God and ourselves, the enemy draws near and wants to bring us into bondage. We begin seeing these things as a part of us, and therein agreeing with them and making a home for them. Once we recognize the lies, we can take a stand against them.
Learn the three steps of renunciation and what happened at a Freedom in Christ conference that caused someone to say, “I feel like I just took a spiritual shower!”

Hear the engaging story of Ron Riggins –family man, businessman, Unbound ministry team founder, Board member, and more!
We hear of Ron’s faith background, meeting his wife Terry, and his prayer while watching the Pentagon burn on September 11th. His first introduction to Unbound was the change he saw in Terry after she attended an Unbound conference.
Ron sees the parish as a natural place for Unbound ministry and speaks of the “beauty of Unbound.” He offers valuable advice for folks launching their first Unbound team including the value of having younger adults offering ministry, as well as those who are more seasoned.
Matt agrees, saying that we sometimes carry a wounded little boy or wounded little girl within us and having a young person speak to that can be transformational. Matt also testifies to experiencing calm and hope when receiving prayer from someone older.
The episode concludes with Ron sharing his thoughts about retirement and his desire to pass on the grace he has received to younger generations.

Jacqueline hosts Neal in this intimate discussion on the topic of Forgiveness,
the Second Key.
As Christians, we can be quick to forgive but forgiveness is often a process for
those deeper wounds and hurts.
God has forgiven us through His Son and we receive His forgiveness by an
expression of faith. Neal discusses the connection between our receiving
forgiveness from God and extending forgiveness to others. It’s a partnership.
The story of the unforgiving servant in Matthew 18 shows that the freedom we
receive is limited by our unforgiveness. This is one of the enemy’s big
strategies – getting us bound by failing to forgive others so that we fail to
receive forgiveness ourselves from God.
Forgiveness takes time. It is a commitment. It is a process that continues
through the Holy Spirit. Saying the words of forgiveness out loud, as we do in
Unbound prayer, is effective. We are not the driving force, but instead are
called to cooperate with the work of the Holy Spirit.
Neal covers five reasons why we fail to forgive. Can you guess what some
might be? Listen and grow with us!

What does repentance and faith look like in an Unbound session when past wounds might cause inner blindness?
How can we go deeper in healing through this First Key of Unbound?
In this episode, we review the foundational and foremost First Key: Repentance and Faith. Sometimes called “The Forgotten Key,” it can be easy to overlook within Unbound prayer.
Repentance is a gift of God’s grace empowered by the Holy Spirit when we respond to truth revealed to us.
God enables us to repent even when we want to hold on to our own way. Saying words like “sorry, please, and thank you” can be part of repentance. Giving our hurts and grief to God is indeed, also, a part of this First Key.
Learn how repentance and faith fit together along with Matt’s explanation of how all Five Keys ultimately are forms of repentance and faith.
Hear the exciting testimonial recently shared with us by someone who attended an Unbound conference six years ago! Transformation has a ripple effect!

Season 4 Begins!!
Matt and Jenn kick off our Open Doors podcast announcing the theme of Season Four: “Come and See!”
Together they offer scriptures from the Apostle John’s writings that invite us to “Come and See” what the Lord is doing.
Due to sin, the world we live in is dark. We can’t see in the dark, but Jesus’ life illuminates things for us.
He joined us, became flesh. He even enlightens the human body, enabling us to see and making the Father known to us.
Philip, Andrew, Nathanial, the Samaritan woman, Lazarus’ sisters, and the disciple Thomas and others are included in this brief, yet broad touch of scriptures – all of which invite us to “Come and See!”
Matt and Jenn present the first exhortation of the season: Invite the Lord into your heart, your darkness, your light. Listen to how He is calling you to come and see. Follow Him in a way you haven’t followed him before.
Matt compares faith to a part of the body – can you guess which? Find out in Episode One of this exciting new season of the Open Doors podcast!

Jacqueline hosts Neal as he shares about speaking in Rome at the Course on the Ministry of Exorcism and Deliverance sponsored by the Sacerdos Institute. Neal presented a non-confrontational approach to deliverance, which is Unbound ministry, to 195 people from 46 countries worldwide. His talks were translated into four languages.
“It was a very different atmosphere for me. They were all professors and they gave me the title professor.” Asking about this, Neal was told, “You’re a professor this week!”
Encouraging listeners to be open to a new way, Neal offered questions to consider: Is it possible that many people are receiving a confrontational style of deliverance or exorcism who do not need one? Is there another approach to help people?
The Unbound approach addresses the person needing help, not the evil one. “We need to understand a person’s heart,” said Neal, adding the necessity to uncover past traumas, responses to traumas, the enemy’s lies, and unforgiveness. “If we give too much attention to the demonic element, we’re going to miss the person. We see Unbound more as a model for evangelization than just deliverance.”
From there, Neal offered numerous testimonials of individuals set free through Unbound ministry, one being himself!
Overall, “It was well-received and I made a connection,” concluded Neal.
Trivia Quiz
1. What surprised Neal the most during his trip to Rome?
2. How long have Jacqueline and Neal known each other?

Sjoquist, B.S. (2021) “The virtuous use of private exorcism by laypersons,” Antiphon: A Journal for Liturgical Renewal, 25(1), pp. 63–90.
It is not intrinsically immoral for laypersons to issue such commands, and, if done rightly, it is virtuous for them to do so. Moral theologians and canonists writing after the Council of Trent up until the Second Vatican Council referred to this practice as “private exorcism.” A close look at the writings of these authors reveals a nearly universal understanding that no ecclesiastical positive law prohibited such actions. When current laws and instructions related to exorcism are read within the context of this tradition, I believe it is also the case that no ecclesiastical positive law categorically prohibits such actions today.

Neal and Janet connect with ministry friend Bohus Zivcak who prays Unbound in post-communist countries. Half his life was spent under communism and now he ministers among a people still struggling to live in freedom.
Janet and Neal speak of Slovakia, hiking in the mountains with Bohus, and people’s openness while receiving personal freedom and then taking message to others.
Bohus speaks fondly of breakfasts at Neal and Janet’s kitchen table, and once dubbed himself “Bohus Lozano.” He tells of his youth, the underground church, retreats with Fr. Michael – a secretly-ordained priest – and starting a mission community in Slovakia’s mountains.
After meeting the Lozanos in the 1990s, Bohus felt compelled to invite them to Slovakia. “When Neal and Janet came with the Unbound it was a shock…like the whole universe opened in front of us.”
Now Bohus works to address the unique fears, connections, beliefs, and lies common to those living in post-communist countries. He sees relief in people’s faces when realizing they are not at fault, they do count, and have a voice, and can make their own decisions.
“Taking responsibility for their lives is a great discovery in Unbound,” he says. “It provides great hope for people to be healed by the Lord.”

Got cabin fever? Meet Aaron Richards of Damascus Camps, whose serious case of cabin fervor ignites his mission to train and disciple year-round missionaries.
Aaron and his wife, Monica, met as teens during their first summer of camp ministry and their five children have grown up spending every summer at camp. “A true encounter with Jesus leads us to a life of mission and a life of mission leads us back to a true encounter with Jesus,” states Aaron, who says his kids have a 470-acre back yard. He describes his family once sleeping in a cabin basement, with dripping water and crawling bugs. Hear how his young son reacted, and better yet - his wife!!
Having grown up in Ohio, Aaron talks of his faithful parents, church involvement, and the power of an invitation. As a teen, he was invited to be a camp counselor, “Stepping into that awkward place, I had an encounter with Jesus.” That experience spurred Aaron towards a life of youth ministry.
We hear how Damascus Camps grew to include quality worship now found on all major music platforms, and about their two-year formation program, which includes Unbound concepts, for young adults. “From the walls of our dining hall we want to show our kids that life with Christ is a wonderful adventure,” says Aaron.

Neal hosts the Open Doors podcast and shares a first for Unbound – prison ministry!
Joining Neal are Dan Gahagan of Unbound Maryland and Jakob Kerlin, a pastor at Victory Church. Both were part of the Unbound team that recently ministered inside a Pennsylvania maximum-security prison.
Invited there by the prison chaplain, it “felt like it was a divine appointment,” said Neal. “It had a profound effect on each of us.”
Neal, Dan and Jakob describe their experiences and offer their personal take-aways from within the prison walls.
A core team of inmates, well- trusted men who had studied Unbound materials in preparation, were dubbed “The Magnificent Seven.” They felt excited to shed their bondage through Unbound prayer on day one of the team’s visit. On the second day, twenty more prisoners received prayer.
After Unbound prayer, one inmate declared, “I got my identity back – now I know who I am.” Another prisoner ditched his negative nickname and assumed a new, more accurate name for himself.
Dan, Jakob, and Neal all testify of inmates who found freedom and hope through Unbound ministry most beautifully expressed by the one who said, “I’m freer now than I ever was on the other side!”
“There was no holding back of forgiveness,” stated Dan.

“This is where the real stuff happens,” says longtime Unbound partner and Polish interpreter, Gosia Wojcik. Gosia joins Matt in this informative episode that covers exciting ministry developments in United Arab Emirates and Ukraine!
Hear Gosia’s Unbound story beginning with the “First-ever Unbound conference,” in Poland and how she interpreted for Neal and Janet as they returned year after year. “All that I learned from Neal and Janet has really shaped me – who I am as a follower in Christ. They introduced me to the Holy Spirit and how he works in people and what he does for them.”
Gosia describes ministering with Matt in United Arab Emirates, an experience quite different from Poland. Struck by their humility and openness, she described conference attendees like “an army destined to change the country they come from and maybe the region.”
Gosia tells of exciting developments in a peaceful region of Ukraine where a Bishop, who learned Unbound directly from Neal, dreams of establishing Houses of Mercy – permanent sites of Unbound ministry – such as are found in Poland. “Neal planted the first seeds and now we are helping to make them grow,” says Gosia.

Tempted to jump out a window when it comes to holiness? In this final episode of our Free to Be Holy book study, the author himself speaks!
We discuss Chapter Seven where Matt invites us to learn from his own mistakes. He shares his personal backstory of realizing he had believed the enemy’s lie. We learn what led Matt to write this book which he calls, “One of the graces of the pandemic.”
Chapter Seven is an informal introduction to Unbound ministry – helping people expose deceptions that keep them in bondage, to practice the Five Keys, and to walk in freedom.
If you’ve hit a wall while pursuing a lifestyle of holiness, ask the Holy Spirit, “Show me what I’m not seeing,” suggests Matt. The Holy Spirit can help us identify internal struggles, patterns of thinking and behaviors which reflect ways we aren’t free.

He’s Right Here!!
Jenn hosts Neal and Lisa for a distinctive discussion during Week Three of our Free to Be Holy book study.
Free to Be Holy means being “free to walk in holiness,” says Neal and “free to grow in holiness,” adds Lisa.
One reason we fail is because we aren’t free. Hear Neal’s story about a prayer recipient exclaiming at The Father’s Blessing, “He’s right here! He was always right here!”
Even when we mess up, Jesus is with us. He respects our free will, but is always there with the hope and the knowledge that we will yield. We discuss Matt’s list of what God will do and won’t do, followed by a beautiful story surrounding the one question God may ask at life’s end: “Did you learn how to love?”
Growth in holiness looks different for each individual, like spring flower bulbs that push up through dirt towards the light, each one displaying unique beauty.

On this Holy Thursday, we begin studying Matt Lozano’s book Free to Be Holy.
What is Holiness? The Hebrew word kadosh translates as “set apart, sacred, holy.” This applied to items used in the temple vessels and nothing made holy could be returned to ordinary service. Proper ritual allowed outward participation, but not interior restoration. Through Jesus, God removes our hearts of stone and gives us hearts of flesh.
There are fascinating parallels between the purposes of blood in the human body and the work of Jesus’ blood upon our soul. Blood animates, heals, and reproduces.
Holiness is a lifestyle of making oneself available to God. We limit holiness by continuing to earn God’s favor yet“We can’t be holy without Jesus,” writes Matt.
What isn’t holiness? False approaches to holiness include: performance, out-of-reach holiness, and having false standards.
When we put something above Jesus, we inevitably fail and can fall prey to the enemy’s traps of shame, self-hatred, or pride.
Escaping our sense of inferiority means putting off self-justification and pressing into Jesus. Our relationship with Christ is what we need to rely on.
The Pharisees were so focused on Jesus actions that they missed Him – the Savior right in front of them.
Deepening our walk in holiness means being available to Jesus. It’s not just about what we avoid but what and Whom we embrace.

As we approach Palm Sunday, Matt and Lisa discuss the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem from Mark 11: 1-10.
See parallels to the crowning of King Solomon, who was placed on David’s mule and cloaks laid down. What was symbolized by laying down cloaks before Jesus?
Zechariah 9 prophecies about the king entering on a colt. What might have been the hidden meaning behind the unridden colt?
Matt continues offering intriguing, thought-provoking questions:
Why were the people so excited?
Why did Jesus suddenly allow a dramatic display of his kingship?
Where do we picture ourselves in the triumphal entry scene and why?
What might Jesus have been thinking as he was riding through Jerusalem?
Why does the story close in an anticlimactic way?
Enjoy Matt and Lisa’s answers to these questions and discover where in the story they picture themselves. Where do you place yourself in this sacred scene from Mark 11?

Grab a cuppa and enjoy some time with Jacqueline and Jenn as they continue our Lenten series, reflecting upon Jeremiah 31:31-34 where the word ‘covenant’ is mentioned four times.
Jeremiah, the weeping prophet, felt so sad about the condition of his people. Amidst Israel’s failure, he offered hope – a promise that God would forgive all our sins and remember them no more.
In the Old Covenant, people couldn’t uphold their end of the things, so God made a new covenant – one people can keep.
In the new covenant, everything is simplified. Jesus Himself is the new covenant, the law made flesh, offering the cup of His blood. Jesus walked the road to his death and resurrection and we also walk it in relationship with him.
God writes His law on our hearts through the Holy Spirit. In the Old Covenant, the law was external, but now it’s alive inside of us. Just like our beating hearts pump blood through our bodies, the Holy Spirit infuses us.
How does God “remember our sin no more?” When God looks at us, He sees His son. He is already seeing what’s going to happen through His son. The criteria for the new covenant is not circumcision or the law, it was relationship with God through Jesus by declaring that Jesus is Lord.

What a treat to hear Matt and Jenn Lozano together for Week Four of our Lenten series as they cover the story in John 9 about Jesus’ healing a man born blind!
Jesus makes room in His day to heal this man and he does the same for us!
During Lent, we consider the darkness and undergo self-reflection. Why is there so much brokenness in the world? We join the disciples in asking Jesus why bad things happen.
In the Scriptures, the Torah conveys the idea of divine retribution, but then we see righteous Job questioning God about suffering. God’s answer to Job, coupled with Jesus’ reply to the disciples in John 9 shows that suffering allows the works God to be made visible. “That’s the why,” says Matt. We all are blind and Jesus is doing something in time that gives us sight.
God created light on the first day but brings salvation on the seventh day – the day of rest. Jesus proclaims His kingdom on the Sabbath by doing things like restoring sight to the blind and casting out demons.
Just as the blind man received mud on his eyes and obediently went to the pool of Siloam, we each can be touched by Jesus and we too can participate in our own healing. Learn what the word “Siloam” means and how that applies to each of us!
At Lent we live in the darkness, knowing that sight is coming. The answer is Jesus – He is the Light of the World!

Amidst the cold of winter, enjoy warm conversation and memories shared by Janet and Lisa as they discuss Romans 5:1-2, 5-8.
God poured out His Word into our hearts. Pouring relates to our baptism and God himself infuses the virtues of faith, hope, and love into us when we are open to receive them.
Through our faith, we rejoice in hope. Janet explains the difference between hope and optimism.
We hear of an early Unbound session when a deeply painful story brought about weeping by all participating. God’s love was spoken, poured out and the recipient experienced freedom to forgive, saying, “Thank you. Now I have hope!”
Tissues are kept handy in an Unbound session because tears of both sorrow and joy often spring forth. These tears help water the seeds of the gospel.

Jenn and Lisa kick off our Lenten series!
Join us as Lent begins, talking about God’s covenant in Genesis 9: 8-15.
We start with the theme of light in the Scriptures. Light bursts from darkness in creation, the post-flood prism of light is the rainbow, and Jesus comes as the Light of the World.
A covenant offers three aspects: a promise, a family, and a sign and each relates to these “light” moments in Scripture.
PROMISE: At Creation, consequences are promised if eating the forbidden fruit. After the flood, God promises never to flood to world again. Jesus offered promises such as eternal life, the Holy Spirit, and the sharing in His sufferings.
FAMILY: The Creation family was Adam and Eve. Noah’s family was saved at the flood. With Jesus, we have the family of Christ. Jenn reminds us that Jesus’ invitation is for all people.
SIGN: A sign is the Holy Spirit being present at each event. The Spirit of God hovered over the waters at Creation, the dove of the Holy Spirit brought an olive branch to Noah, and the descent of the Dove at Jesus’ baptism.
Don’t miss Lisa’s story about seeing a literal “sign from God.”

We hear Matt extol the hospitality of the Mexican people and the goodness of heart he witnessed there, saying, “The Father’s blessing is imbedded in them.”
Stories are shared about individuals set free through Unbound prayer with joy, even to the point of abounding laughter! Gilbert relates a funny memory involving caramel at a Cathedral and Matt follows up with a tale about a stolen Rolex watch. Do you ever think about angels or just wonder about divine mysteries?
In this fascinating episode, we hear from Msgr. Brian Bransfield who served as the General Secretary of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops from 2015 to 2020. He's a priest in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, has his doctorate in moral theology, and is the author of many books including his recent Angels: Our
Guardians in Spiritual Battle, which he describes as “a user-friendly, easy to
read map” that can help us see where the angels lead us.
Msgr. Bransfield tells of first meeting angels as a child and continues with an
exploration of the role angels play in our lives, their power, and what their
invisibility suggests to us.
We learn what angels aren’t - ghosts, phantoms, fiction - and what they are
- real, personal beings, created by God who are present to assist us.
“The holy angels always begin something in us and they beckon us farther and
they serve as our guardian,” states Msgr. Bransfield. He lists the three
common misconceptions regarding angels and how misguided expectations
can place a burden upon us.
Jesus was ministered to by angels when he hit rock bottom and we can be
sure that God has given us these special helpers as well to challenge, coach,
protect and help us to follow the light of Jesus.
Don’t wing it in your assumptions about angels. Listen and understand the
the reality of these unseen beings.

In this sweet episode, Neal and Janet describe their individual spiritual journeys in the early years leading up to Unbound. They tell of specific people and places where they experienced God’s call on each of their lives.
Neal reveals what event caused him to begin searching for spiritual answers and how the prayer of his cousin Fr. Mike Scanlan was later followed by his own sincere prayer and how he experienced God’s loving presence.
Janet shares her story of being invited to a prayer group in college, responding to God, and finding Christian community in the process.
Neal and Janet continue their story together, sharing what inspired them to begin living in community with other Christians. After some years, Neal sought God amidst the ups-and-downs and shared the moment when God melted his heart allowing him to identify unexpectedly with the prodigal son’s older brother.
Hear how Janet received a surprising prophetic word that seemed strange and random but has indeed proven true.
In the end, we discover who the mystery person was who invited Janet to her first prayer group meeting!

To kick off the New Year, we thought it would be a great time to discuss hope. Since the beginning of a New Year often is a time filled with hope, joining Jenn today is a friend who is infectious in her hope and her fervor for the Lord.
With the grace of God and inspired by the love of Christ, Terry Riggins has been on evangelistic trips all around the world, most notably to the underground church in China. She worked with the Diocese of Arlington, Virginia as coordinator of Deliverance Ministry, bringing Unbound Ministry to the diocese, as well as served as liaison for the Charismatic Renewal for 10 years until her recent retirement.
Some of the highlights of this episode:
"If God wants me to do it, He's going to equip me. So that was the trajectory that Unbound just completely changed. Because then, here I became the person who received every phone call from everybody in the diocese that wanted deliverance. And I had to evangelize them, catechize them, love them, talk to them, just be there for them, as well as present their case to the team and figure out what approach we were going to take with those individuals.
And 90 percent of the time it was Unbound prayer. And we prayed with folks and we trained teams. Heart of the Father came down to help me train teams and I would train teams on my own. We prayed with thousands of people and we never got a complaint to the Bishop about unbound prayer ever. That's awesome. Isn't that amazing?
Yes. It's amazing when we open ourselves up to God and allow Him to come in and remove those obstacles. That's what He can set us up to do! "
Listen to more wonderful stories as Terry shares about her mission trips to the underground church in China, walking through cancer, and more.
Guaranteed, you will not be the same after this episode!

Amid your Advent busyness, take some time for joy and reflection with Heart of the Father Ministries!
Jenn hosts Matt and Jacqueline in this final podcast of our Advent series.
Scripture Luke 1:26-38
In this episode, Matt reflects on how God shows up and delivers Israel at a very low point. We learn how Miriam and Leah in the Old Testament relate to Mary and Elisabeth in the New Testament.
In barrenness we say to ourselves, “I dreamed my life would be this and now it’s this.” And yet the barrenness can turn into conception because nothing is impossible with God.
The legacy of sin is shown in Rachel weeping for her children because they are no more. We cry out, “How long oh Lord, how long?” We wait for the tears to be overtaken with joy. We long for that great reversal, that our mouths will be filled with laughter again.
There is a profound connection between Eve and the Virgin Mary—how Eve’s disobedience brought death and Mary’s obedience brought life.
We may not know how our barrenness will be taken away, but we can give God our ‘yes’ and our obedience as we wait for God and look with eyes of faith as Mary did.
Listen and have hope that whatever barrenness you’re experiencing, the promise of Jesus is an overflowing cup and His promises will be fulfilled.

Jenn hosts Neal and Jacqueline as the Open Doors Advent series begins.
The text is Isaiah 40:3-5 with Neal reflecting on the richness and beauty of Advent and the meaning of the Latin word Adventus.
Hear Neal’s favorite definition of faith and a lively discussion surrounding the Advent themes of Preparation and Promise with Jenn relating these to having company over and Jacqueline likening them to an ongoing construction project.
The first Advent candle stands for hope and Neal talks about the prophet Simeon’s example of waiting, preparation, and prophecy. Listen to real-life examples surrounding waiting and anticipation, including Neal’s story of losing his wedding ring!
Advent is a season of encounter not only surrounding Jesus’ birth, but a present everyday encounter through the Holy Spirit.
Begin your Advent season with this encouraging episode and remember His arrival and presence changed everything!

With the American Thanksgiving holiday coming up next week, we thought this would be a great time to talk about gratitude. We love our Thanksgiving tradition , but the heart behind it is really taking time to be grateful and to express our thanksgiving to the Lord.
Have you ever considered that gratitude is a profound response to God's love and goodness? Join us as Neal and Jacqueline reflect on significant experiences of giving thanks. Neal mentions 1 Thessalonians 5, highlighting that it is God's will we express thanks in all circumstances.
Neal and Jacqueline touch on several other scriptural passages:
Psalm 136:1-3
Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good.
His love endures forever.
Give thanks to the God of gods.
His love endures forever.
Give thanks to the Lord of lords:
His love endures forever.
Give thanks in all circumstances. It's at the heart of our personal relationship with Him.
Neal then offers suggestions for ways that we can grow in that act, in that discipline of giving thanks.
Psalm 50: 23
The one who offers thanksgiving as his sacrifice glorifies me; to one who orders His way rightly I will show the salvation of God!
Colossians 3:17
And whatever you do, in word or in deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.
Philippians 4:6
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
God's word makes it super clear that a thanksful heart is a heart that pleases Him.
Listen today and have your thankful heart restored.

In this episode, Matt interviews Father Dave Pivonka, TOR, President of Franciscan University in Steubenville, Ohio, who speaks forthrightly about seeing God’s freedom at work in the students and really all of God's people.
In the context of discussing freedom in Christ, Fr. Dave tells the story that led Franciscan University to offer new students free tuition for a semester. He and Matt discuss how unexpected ideas from the Lord require discernment and stepping out in faith!
We learn that freedom is a constant theme throughout the scriptures and how God always invites us back, even after we have compromised that freedom.
Fr. Dave teaches how “freedom from” something leads to “freedom for” a new future. He describes what freedom looks like, his inspiration by students who come from difficult situations into beautiful faith, and gives poignant examples of people allowing their suffering to count for the kingdom.
Be drawn into deeper freedom in your own life, and learn to walk in the spirit through a more personal encounter with the Lord, reclaiming the kingdom of God in your heart.

In this episode, Jenn Lozano and board member Ann Stevens explore the art of listening in an Unbound session or simply to a friend or someone in need.
Ann describes three overall ways one can respond when listening to hard things shared. Responses of fear or pride may be human responses, but God will give us grace to respond in humility, extending compassion to the individual receiving prayer.
Join them as Ann shares the importance of taking personal time prior to an Unbound ministry session to seek the Lord and meditate, even briefly, on a passage from Matthew 7. She reminds us about the depth and unlimited nature of God’s forgiveness.
There is the “small story,” and the “big story.” The small story being the details of a prayer recipient’s account and the big story of God’s power forgiveness and the ability to move into the bigger place of what God is doing.
Ann speaks about the importance of staying present in the moment and being aware of one’s own body language so the recipient feels heard.
The idea of redirecting within an Unbound session is discussed, with Jenn giving an example of a time when she was leading and a recipient withdrew because they felt unheard in the moment. Listening is an art and tips are provided to be compassionate without getting stuck rehashing the hard things someone has been through.
Ann shares a personal example of a time that she received compassion during a therapy session and describes how the empathy shown by the therapist helped her feel heard in the moment.
The biblical account of the disciples on the road to Emmaus is explored, showing how Jesus came alongside the disciples and, after listening to their story, helped draw them out of their small story into the bigger picture of what God was doing.
Ann concludes with the reminder that as we remember God’s unlimited compassion and mercy for each of us personally, we can through the Holy Spirit not judge and can help a prayer recipient step into recognizing God’s big story.

Have you ever wondered why some of us get stuck, as in really stuck?
Did you know that sometimes we are held back from living our best selves, the person we were made to be, by our past hurts and traumatic experiences?
Back in the spring, our Heart of the Father team had the opportunity to attend a workshop on trauma informed care in ministry, hosted by the Archdiocese of Philadelphia's Office of the New Evangelization.
This two day workshop was led by the brilliant professional counselor and trauma therapist Margaret Vasquez, who shared her insight and depth of understanding on this complex subject in a way that was both accessible and hopeful.
We know you'll be blessed by this conversation where Margaret beautifully explains the shaping influences of our past experiences, her own transformative journey, and her passion for human and spiritual integration.

Ever want to fix a problem for someone else and struggle to know what is yours and not yours to carry?

In this episode, Janet joins Rachel and lends her wisdom on surrendering and giving our grief to the Lord as they recognize that in surrendering, we can discover a peace that goes beyond our understanding.

Have you missed us? We are so excited to be back for Season 3 and can't wait for you to hear all the special episodes we've lined up for you!
Today we kick off this season "Swinging for the Fences" as Matt and Jenn take a deep dive into the heart of surrender.
Surrender, though often so challenging, is a central expression of faith to give the Lord our "Yes", let go of the things that we tend to hold on to, and embrace Him as Lord. We're not just surrendering for the sake of ourselves; we're surrendering to God and for God and for His will and for His purposes. It's for His sake.
"In order for Him to be our Savior, we have to stop trying to save ourselves.
In order for Him to be our deliverer, we have to stop trying to deliver ourselves."
Surrendering to God isn't a one-time act, but a daily process. Reflecting on their own walk with God, Matt and Jenn share personal stories and challenges, but reveal the truth that giving Him an open hand allows the Lord to satisfy our deepest desires!
Discover how letting go can lead to a transformative spiritual renewal.
Tune in and invite a friend!
Philippians 2:5-8
In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to His own advantage; rather, He made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to death—even death on a cross!

Have you ever thought, "This wasn't the life I expected?"
You thought you'd be farther along in your career by now. You thought you'd be married by now. You thought you'd have more money saved by now. You didn't think that your children would be going in these different directions that you don't believe are healthy for them. You didn't think that your kids wouldn't want to come back and see you.
There are all different kinds of ways that we can be disappointed with life, and the question that this powerful episode offers is- are we willing to set aside those things, those expectations that we had, and accept what is, or will we continue to try to white knuckle our way through life, holding on to control everywhere that we can?

Join us for a terrific episode you don't want to miss...but... bear with us as one of our tracks had some minor technical issues so you have to listen a little more closely to what Janet is sharing, We've included the beginning of the transcript here in our show notes and click the TRANSCRIPT tab for the rest.
Jacqueline: So welcome everyone to week five of our Abba's Heart Book Study that we've been doing this summer. It's just been so much fun and such a blessing to take a deep dive into the book Abba's Heart. And if you have not read it and haven't been able to join us in past episodes, don't turn off this podcast.
You will still be so blessed. Today we're going to be talking about chapters 13 and 14- "Empowered to Serve" and "Walking in Forgiveness." Today I'm here with Janet and Jenn Lozano, and I have great expectation for some really beautiful conversations, so thank you Lord. We are at the end of June, and summer is in full swing.
How are you guys? Anything exciting going on?
Jenn: I have two kids at overnight camp right now. Woohoo. And because two adult "large" children came home from college, it's nice to have a little breathing space in our house again.
Jacqueline: That's awesome. That's really great.
Jenn: I don't have to double our recipes at dinner. It's, so far it's, it's just really nice. I miss them, but they're having a blast, so it's, it's nice. The camp is called Summer's Best Two Weeks, and at home we're also referring to it as Summer's Best Two Weeks.
Jacqueline: It's so fun to mix it up, like you swapped out the little kids for the big kids and yeah, how great is that?
Jenn: So great. So mom, what's happening in your summer?
Janet: Well, our summer started out with a wonderful celebration of our 50th Anniversary, and since then we had a few out of town family guests stay with us for a few days. Currently I have a nephew on my side of the family stay with us for several days, so I feel like my summer has begun with a lot of hosting.
Yes. The opposite of you, Jenn. I'm cooking more than I usually do, but it's been wonderful just to have time to connect with family members and continue to celebrate what God has done in our lives over the past 50 years that Neal and I have been married.
Jacqueline: Wow. And for those of you who have not been a guest in Janet's house for dinner or overnight, she is the Hostess with the Mostess. So she's going all out for her guests. We know that for sure.
Jenn: Chocolate's on the pillow. Yeah, exactly. Like we're going high end.
Jacqueline: It's a real gift that she has. So speaking of gifts, I feel like these two chapters are really just gifts to me and to all of us listening. Chapter 13 is about humility and just how Jesus came to serve us in humility.
Then chapter 14 talks about forgiveness. Humility and forgiveness are central themes, they're pillars of our faith. It's sort of like what Jesus taught us to be humble and walk in forgiveness. But I love how he not only led by example and teaches us, but that God equips us and changes us and transforms us so that humility and forgiveness can become part of our everyday walk.

If this is your first time tuning in and you are thinking, "What are they talking about? What is this Abba's Heart book study? " don't worry, don't turn this off.
This podcast is for you, even if you haven't been reading Abba's Heart along with us. Today Matt, Jenn, and Rachel Lozano are talking about life in the Father's house, and don't we all want to hear more about that? Don't we all want to dwell in our Heavenly Father's house, to live as His sons and daughters?
"I have regular prayer time, but...the question is, do I show up to that prayer time?
A lot of times I'm there and can go through my laundry list of what I want to ask God, I can read the scriptures... and I can pray. But the challenge to me lately is, Am I bringing my heart? Am I allowing myself to reflect on what's going on inside of me?
Am I able to share that with God, to ask Him to reveal my heart? And with a heart to obey, with a heart to receive, to be transformed. That takes a lot of trust. You have to trust the person you're speaking to. "
Listen and learn to better walk as His son or daughter, bring your heart to your Heavenly Father, and trust Him with everything.

Join us on this journey back to the Father's delight.
Before we kick off the discussion of Chapters 1-3 of Abba's Heart , Rachel sets up the framework of Abba's Heart so you have a vision of where we are going. The book is split up into four sections. The first is the Way Home, where we look at our separation from our home in God the Father, and how He made a way for us to return. The second section is the Father's heart, where we gain a deeper understanding of God's heart and the home we are returning to.
The third is coming home where we learn to walk that path the Lord has set before us to be with Him. And finally, Life in the Father's House, where we get a vision of what it means for us to live in the Father's Heart once we are there. Our prayer for ourselves and all of you joining us on this journey is that we would be drawn into the heart of the Father.
These are Neal's words in the preface:
Draw near to the Heart of the Father...be drawn, not just near, but into the Heart of the Father. May we be drawn into His heart today.
Today, Jen, Jacqueline and Rachel discuss the first three chapters, the Promise, A Broken Heart, and The Tragedy of Slavery.

The gospel is the answer to the deepest questions of the heart.
In this episode, Jenn and Neal discuss the power of the gospel as a transformational proclamation, one that carries a personal invitation to respond from the heart. It is the fulfilment of a promise, in the form of Jesus Christ our Savior.
The power of the gospel is the love of God. When a preacher of the gospel desires to communicate the love of God, this self-giving love accompanies the speaker's words and actions.
The presentation of the Five Keys is a presentation of the gospel. Unbound's mission is to help people generate a heart response to the gospel and experience the transformational power of the Holy Spirit.
How often have you heard the gospel, but had no response? Consider the good news that you have heard, and how you might seek to surrender to Jesus.
Scriptures from this episode:
Luke 2:10-11: "But the angel said to them, 'Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.'"
Mark 1:14: "After John was put in prison, Jesus went to Galilee, proclaiming the good news of God."
Ezekiel 36:26 "I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh."
1 Corinthians 2:1-2: "And so it was with me, brothers and sisters. When I came to you, I did not come with eloquence or human wisdom as I proclaimed to you the testimony about God. For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified."
Romans 5:5: "And hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us."

What does living in freedom mean?
In this episode, Rachel sits down with Dan Gahagan, Unbound board member and Baltimore native, to discuss Dan's ties with Unbound Ministry that began fifteen years ago. They reflect on Dan's personal experience of renouncing the enemy's lies and choosing to walk in the freedom of the Gospel every single day.
"I developed the self-perception that I was not good, that I don't measure up, and that I don't have what it takes."
After Dan renounced these lies, he began to walk in the things that God had held for him that he had previously shied away from.
Unbound shows people who their enemy is and brings it into the light, where it loses its power. Once you understand the Five Keys as a proclamation of the Gospel, they become a powerful tool in your walk with the Lord.
What lies has the enemy told you that you still identify with? What do you need to repent of? Who do you need to forgive? What do you need to renounce?
"Today, I walk in the knowledge and understanding that I am loved, that I am a beloved son of the Father."

In today's episode, Matt and Jenn Lozano sit down to discuss Matt's new book, Free to Be Holy. Instead of teaching us how to "become holy," this book boldly proclaims that we are already made holy by the blood of Jesus.
Why is freedom important to holiness?
How does God make us holy?
How do we live a lifestyle of holiness?
How are we limited by the enemy in the pursuit of holiness?
What are approaches to holiness that are healthy? Unhealthy?
Together, Matt and Jenn discuss these questions and why this message of holiness is important today. God is so beyond what we can put into words, but Matt gives us a little taste to able to explain what is beyond our greatest imagination.
Free to Be Holy is a guide to understanding how Jesus made us and how we can approach a life of holiness with confident faith and joyful hope. The compelling promise of this book is that the pursuit of holiness is not a struggle but an adventure of discovering who we really are in Jesus.

You won't want to miss this week's episode with special guest Dr. Bob Schuchts of Restore the Glory Podcast and the John Paul II Healing Center.
What is healing? What is deliverance? We cannot understand one without the other.
Dr. Schuchts defines healing as an "ongoing encounter with the love of God that brings us into wholeness and communion." In light of 2 Corinthians 3:18, healing is gazing at the face of Jesus until we become the face of Jesus for others.
Deliverance is the freedom from barriers that perpetuate our brokenness.
Like Unbound, Dr. Schuchts' ministry advocates for the transformation of the Holy Spirit in the hearts of those who experience wounds, such as abandonment, rejection, and broken trust.
How often do we treat woundedness with unforgiveness, judgment, identity lies, or sinful patterns instead of turning to the Lord? The deliverance and healing promised by Our Father is experienced through the salvation of Jesus Christ.
This one's so good you'll want to listen again!
And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord's glory, are being transformed into His image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.
2 Corinthians 3:18 NIV

A short conversation in her counselor's office ultimately led Priscilla Strapp of New Life Philly to bring Unbound to her church. Before long, she found herself across the world leading an Unbound conference in Japan -- the same place her journey of faith began as a child of missionaries. Priscilla's experience with Unbound is a story of deliverance and bridging divides, with an ending yet to unfold.
Listen to this joyful conversation as Rachel and Priscilla reflect on what the Lord can do, often behind the scenes, working all things together to bring glory and healing.
Every day God calls to share the Good News. It is easy to be discouraged by obstacles, and oftentimes we do not see the fruit of His work. Other times He places opportunities right in our laps, where we serve as His hands and feet with a front-row seat to powerful testimonies of lives changed by deliverance.
That's the way the gospel spreads. You always hear people say, it's just a one starving person saying to another, 'this is where I found bread.'
"Now may the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, equip you with everything good for doing His will, and may He work in us what is pleasing to Him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen." Hebrews 13:20-21 NIV

In today's episode, join Neal as he and ChristLife's Dave Nodar (Neal's longtime friend) reflect on this Holy Thursday gospel passage in John 13:1-15.
Here we find that Jesus, the Son of God, rose from supper, laid aside His garments, and girded himself with a towel. His service was based on who He was in the Father.
This is God who becomes man, humbles Himself and becomes a servant. Jesus says, "I came not to be served, but to serve and to give my life as a ransom."
Jesus tells us that this is the way He wants us to live.
But Jesus was able to serve from His identity as the beloved Son. He has won that for each of us. We are called to serve like Jesus, to wash oneanother's feet, but that giving of ourselves comes from knowing who we are in Christ.
Come and be moved by His desire for you! Listen as you hear Peter's struggle to understand. Find out just how much you are LOVED!
Dave Nodar is the founder and senior leader of ChristLife, a ministry that equips Catholics for the essential work of evangelization, so that all people might personally encounter Jesus Christ and be transformed into His missionary disciples. Dave authored several books as well as the ChristLife courses.
But the thing we most love about Dave is his passion to help others to know the love of God the Father in Jesus Christ.

Reflecting on John 11:17-44, Matt Lozano is joined in this episode by Nick Jorgenson from Acts XXIX Ministries.
"So they took away the stone. Then Jesus looked up and said, 'Father, I thank you that you have heard me. I knew that you always hear me, but I said this for the benefit of the people standing here, that they may believe that you sent me.'" John 11:41-42 NIV.
Jesus is God speaking human. He chooses to speak with us through the humanity of His Son, Jesus Christ.
Like the tomb of Lazarus, we have parts of ourselves that we shrink away from, things in our life that we want to hide from Jesus. But it is in our darkest place, our vulnerable moments, that the Gospel holds the most truth.
As He did for Lazarus, He longs to call your name. In calling YOUR name from YOUR tomb, He's saying that He knows you. He knows all of you. He desires you. He desires ALL of you.
He says, "Dead man come out!"
We all have access to the Father. God always hears us! He rejoices in our triumphs and weeps for our sorrows.
What is the Good News for you today?
Can you hear Him call YOUR name?

As we continue these beautiful Lenten reflections on the Gospel readings, join Jacqueline and Ann in today's podcast on John 9:1-41, the story of the man born blind.
What does it mean to be seen? How does it feel to be known?
What can we learn from this story of Jesus seeing and knowing and healing the man born blind?
Like the disciples, our first response to a problem is often with a "fix-it" mentality -- what did I do wrong, and how can I make it right? If we focus on what we see on the surface, we miss out on understanding the truth. Where is God when we face trials? How does He reveal Himself to us and make Himself known? How deeply do we understand that we are known by Him?
From understanding comes healing.
Listen to the word of God and our reflection on the story of the man born blind. What is the Lord's invitation for you to respond to him today?
Jesus heard that they had thrown him out, and when He found him, He said, "Do you believe in the Son of Man?"
"Who is he, sir?" the man asked. "Tell me so that I may believe in him."
Jesus said, "You have now seen Him; in fact, He is the one speaking with you."
Then the man said, "Lord, I believe," and he worshipped Him.
Jesus said, "For judgment I have come into this world, so that they blind will see and those who see will become blind."

In today's episode, Rachel and Neal reflect on Jesus' encounter with the Samaritan woman at the well, found in John 4:5-42.
A beautiful story of conversion, this passage illustrates the intentionality of Jesus when He encounters the Samaritan woman and the same intentionality He has for each of us.
He knows our hearts and is always waiting for our response, just as He waited and revealed Himself to the truth-seeking heart of the Samaritan woman.
This passage is read in the middle of Lent, a sacred time of preparation for the renewal of internal faith through external practices. Fasting, almsgiving, and prayer are powerful reflections of our internal conversions and gratitude for what the Lord has given us. These things are fulfilled with a deep connection to Jesus, with a heart in pursuit of God.
What is going on in your life as you listen today?
What are you experiencing?
Through suffering and triumphs, Jesus sits at the well and awaits your engagement to reveal the Love of the Father.

In this beautiful episode, Janet and Jenn reflect on the gospel reading from this past Sunday, the Transfiguration of Jesus in Matthew 17:1-9.
This powerful account starts with Jesus taking Peter, James and John high up on that mountain. These were the same three disciples who were going to be with Him in the Garden of Gethsemane on another mountain, the Mount of Olive. He was transfigured before them.
What was this transfiguration?
What was the meaning of the transfiguration for Jesus?
What did it mean for His disciples?
Why were Moses and Elijah there?

During the next few weeks, we're going to be reflecting on the Lenten gospel passages and having some special guests as well, so that we can really prepare ourselves for this season.
Today though, we want to do something a little different. Recently, all of us at Heart of the Father Ministries were shocked and saddened by the news of the tragic death of Bishop David O'Connell, an Auxiliary Bishop in the Diocese of Los Angeles. Bishop Dave was a servant of the poor, the immigrant, and the marginalized.
He spent most of his priesthood loving the people in the city of Los Angeles. He had a tremendous sense of humor and a warmth for everyone he met. Bishop Dave was a friend of ours and an enthusiastic supporter of Unbound. He hosted two Unbound priest retreats in his diocese, and he never hesitated to share his testimony about how he experienced freedom when a friend ministered to him using the Five Keys.
So in this episode, we share with you a beautiful interview Father Boniface Hicks OSB did with Bishop Dave in 2017 on WAOB Radio. Bishop Dave tells his story of freedom and talks about the great need people have for deliverance in their lives. We know you'll be blessed to hear Bishop Dave, and we just want to honor and thank God for his life.
Well done. Good and faithful servant David O'Connell.
Thank you Fr. Boniface Hicks, OSB.

They spend most of their free time evangelizing and sharing the message of freedom in Christ in the US and beyond.
Join us for a warm-hearted and soul-touching episode filled with stories of God's faithfulness and compassion. Hear how lives have been changed!
It was this thirst for God that He gave me about His word, and I felt so much love from the Father that He loved me. There was this fire that He put inside of my heart, and I just felt so much love. And I told God, "I hope that this passion that you gave me for you, that's this love that I feel that you have for me, that it doesn't go away." And it's going to be 31 years now since He first came to me.

What happens when we offer the Lord the bread we have to share with others, even if it doesn't look like enough?
Yes, it's true. He multiplies it!
In this episode, join Jenn and Neal as they go deeper with our February theme of Evangelism. Listen to Neal talk about Unbound's beginnings so many years ago when he and Janet prayed in Poland and where God has taken Heart of the Father since.
"We asked that God would give us the bread for the nations, the bread of the gospel, the bread of truth, the bread from heaven." He has taken what we could offer and multiplied it beyond expectation.
Hear amazing stories of Unbound's impact on hearts across the world, including testimonies from Japan, India, Slovakia, Africa, Croatia, New Zealand, Taiwan, France, Mexico, and Cameroon. Be inspired and filled with awe.
The simple yet profound Five Keys of Unbound have helped people open their hearts to the Holy Spirit and embrace the truth that sets them free.
Through the saving power of Jesus Christ, Unbound ministry is changing individuals, marriages, families, churches, and communities.
"Bring them here to me," He said. And He directed the people to sit down on the grass. Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, He gave thanks and broke the loaves. Then He gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the people. They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over. The number of those who ate was about five thousand men, besides women and children.

Have you experienced freedom in Christ and desire to share it with others - but are not sure how?
In this encouraging episode, Rachel is joined by Lorelei Low, a leader of the Unbound team in San Francisco, CA. Lorelei shares the Five Keys of Unbound as an official team leader, but also on a personal level through interactions with friends and family.
Join Rachel and Lorelei as they discuss how to invite others to participate in the power of prayer and forgiveness. Whether during a casual conversation, sharing a copy of Unbound with a friend, or through direct prayer, God will sow seeds when we step into boldness and say "yes."
Let go of fears of imperfection or imposition, and remember that what matters is the heart behind what you are sharing. Invite others in as an offering, and God will use it.

Who do you believe you are? What do you believe you were created for?
We are made by Love, for love, to love.
In this episode, Matt sits down with Lindsay Fay Costello, a former missionary at The Culture Project, to discuss freedom as it relates to love, sexuality, and relationships. Lindsay has served for years as a minister to young people, sharing with them the Good News and how to respond with chastity and virtue to today's distorted messages.
Chastity is the integration of our bodies and souls. Moment to moment, it is not running away in shame but checking in with our hearts and minds as we turn our temptations into prayer that we offer up to God. Virtue is an apprenticeship in self-mastery: either we govern our passions or our passions govern us.
At the core of our desires is the desire for union, communion, life, and love. Seeking each of these allows us to surrender to the Lord for healing. He restores us and brings us back to life.
We do not have a sexuality problem as much as we have an identity problem. The good news is that we can renounce false identities, find healing in freedom from shame and culture wounds, and no longer make room for the messages from the enemy.
"But he said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me." (2 Corinthians 12:9, NIV)

He said to them, 'When you pray, say: "Father, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come. Give us each day our daily bread. Forgive us our sins, for we also forgive everyone who sins against us. And lead us not into temptation."'" Luke 11:2-4, NIV
In today's episode, Ed and Lisa Crenshaw join Jenn to discuss the Lord's Prayer in Luke's gospel. As head pastors of Victory Church in Trooper, PA, Ed and Lisa developed a curriculum called Teach Us to Pray which focuses on Luke's emphases. It is built around the Lord's prayer and is represented by the acronym PRAY:
P - Press into God
R - Resist the status quo
A - Ask for what you need
Y - Yield to God's grace
Prayer can be intimidating for many people. When we compare the way we pray to others, we may feel inadequate. Teach Us to Pray is a tool that helps make prayer accessible to anyone.
Our sins are not God's priority -- He seeks a relationship with us, built on prayer. Our needs for forgiveness and grace flow naturally from putting God's Kingdom first.

How do we pray for someone we love?
Can we effectively pray for those who are struggling?
What should we ask the Lord for when we ourselves are in need?
Often our prayers become solely petitions for what we want rather than embracing God's plan and purposes.
While the Lord cares for the desires of our hearts, intercession is praying God's heart back to Him. Intercession moves us past our own inclinations and towards the Lord's kingdom on earth.
Join Rachel Lozano, Ann Stevens, and Donna Drennen as they discuss the practicalities and wonders of intercession. Listen as they share how they have powerfully experienced the Father's heart in interceding for others.
Hear about some amazing answered prayers!
"Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died--more than that, who was raised to life--is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us."

The Our Father is for everyone, anytime, anywhere, NOW and FOREVER!
The Lord’s Prayer, also known as the ‘Our Father,’ comes from the Gospel of Matthew, with a shorter version in the Gospel of Luke. It continues to be one of the most popular Christian prayers.
But have you ever taken the time to reflect on it, line by line, and consider how it could transform your life?
Join Neal and Jacqueline in a deep dive into the seven lines of the prayer Jesus gave us, often called the Seven Petitions. Listen and be inspired to invite His kingdom more fully into your life and the lives of those you love.
“Pray then in this way: ‘Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy Kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.”

New Year, new goals? Want to grow in the gift of giving thanks? Join Matt as he shares with Jacqueline what Thanksgiving means to him and how we're called to walk with gratitude. Go deeper in grace this year and join us for a profound discussion on aligning our hearts with reality.
When you hear the word Thanksgiving, what does it mean to you? What do you think about? Do you think about reality?
The act of giving thanks can align our hearts with the reality that we are loved and that everything is grace. Everything is a gift. Life itself is gratuitous.
Matt takes us back to the scriptures. When you read in Romans one, there's a description of the fall, and it says although they knew God, they neither acknowledged Him as God nor gave Him thanks. So the beginning of the fall was a lack of gratitude.
Romans 1;21 For although they knew God, they neither glorified Him as God nor gave thanks to Him, but their thinking became futile, and their foolish hearts were darkened.
By detaching themselves from the reality of who God is, they lacked in giving thanks. A lack of gratitude, which doesn't see God for who He is nor give Him thanks, resulted in a darkened mind. The darkened mind led to idolatry and all sorts of other problems for humanity.
So if the fall involved ingratitude, our redemption will involve Thanksgiving.

In this final week of Advent, we light the purple candle of peace. In prayer and penance, we wait for the birth of our Savior. We are called to step away from the hustle and bustle of the Christmas season, quiet ourselves, and prepare the center place in our hearts for Christ Jesus. It is in the peace and quiet of the midnight hours that the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream.
Our special guest, Bonnie O'Neil, Executive Director of Alpha Mid-Atlantic, author, spiritual director, Bible teacher, and engaging speaker, takes a deep dive into understanding Joseph. She joins Jenn, Rachel, and Jacqueline to discuss Matthew 1:18-24, where we are given a small glimpse of the man God chose to be the earthly father of His Son. We have much to learn from Joseph's unwavering faithfulness and obedience to God.
The Lord's plans do not always make sense to us, but they are always good. We may ask, "God, why is life not easier?" Advent invites us to embrace the mystery of faith that God is always working things together for our good. In order to hear God and recognize His voice, we must be quiet. How are you listening to God? How does He speak to you?
The Lord promised Joseph that Mary would give birth to a son who will save His people from their sins. While this was not Joseph's initial plan for his life, his personal faith provided his willingness to mold his desires to match the Lord's.
In this season of Advent, press into your deepest longings and desires as you wait for the Lord.
"But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, 'Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus because he will save his people from their sins.'" (Matthew 1:20-21).

This past Sunday, we lit the third candle, the rose candle of joy, as a moment of rejoicing while we await the birth of our Savior.
Advent can be a powerful time to reflect and prepare our hearts for Jesus, to allow Him to reach us in ways we have not yet known Him.
The scriptures this week give us much pause for joy.
Who is this Jesus? Why did He come?
Join us today as Janet leads us in a beautiful reflection on Psalm 146:6-10 and come to know Him just a little deeper still.
He is the maker of heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them.
He remains faithful forever.
He upholds the cause of the oppressed and gives food to the hungry.
The Lord sets free the prisoner.
The Lord gives sight to the blind.
The Lord lifts up those who are bowed down.
The Lord loves the righteous.
The Lord watches over the foreigner and sustains the fatherless and the widow, but He frustrates the ways of the wicked.
The God of heaven became a man that He might become our salvation.
He became one of us.
Lord, we thank you today for who you are, and for what you've done. We recognize that you love us incredibly, and we can trust in You. Thank You for becoming one of us.

During this second week of Advent, the candle we light on the advent wreath represents faith. And there's a lot of faith required in this passage we're discussing today from Isaiah 11:1-10.
It's that one that begins, "A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse;
from his roots a branch will bear fruit."
When you look at a stump, you don't usually see new trees growing out of it. A stump is usually dead, and you're just waiting for it to decay. This represents David and his kingdom and his family line.
But Jesus is a really unexpected surprise.
David's line had appeared to be done for as the last of the Davidic kings had been carted off to Babylon. Then they return, and there are a few of them that try to set up the kingdom, but they fail and they're under oppression.
But Isaiah speaks of a shoot that will bear fruit.
So, you know, Jesus. He is not what people expect. He's a surprise.
In the passage on the wedding in Cana , there is wine that is saved for the last. That's kind of like Jesus. It's a description of Jesus.
This wine is amazing, intoxicating, and flavorful. Where did this come from? That wine is like this shoot coming out of the stump of Jesse.
And so, in Jesus, something that was lost is being restored. Even something that people were hoping for comes to us in a marvelous way.
Jesus arrives in the fullness of time.
He's unexpected and He's better than anything we could imagine. That's the faith that this passage is indicating-Jesus is something you've never seen before.
The Messiah's kingdom is so much more than we can get our heads around. He's going to bring wisdom and order to all of creation. We're going to see an end to things that we thought were never going to be possible.
This Advent, respond to the invitation to groan along with all creation, to groan for Messiah's Kingdom, to groan for Jesus, and for His glory to be revealed.
The words He longs to speak to you are astonishingly and astoundingly good.

Looking for a kairos moment?
Well, isn't Advent that sort of time?
The birth of Jesus, the Incarnation- could there have been another kairos moment like that?
For hundreds and hundreds of years, people were waiting for a Messiah. But they didn't just get a Messiah.
They got God Incarnate!
So they got more than they hoped for, more than they imagined, more than they could expect, and they almost missed it because He didn't come in the way they expected.
We don't want to be those people that miss the moment during Advent. We don't want to miss out on the best Christmas celebration.
We want to draw near to Him because we're not just hoping for a Messiah. We're not just hoping for a nice celebration; we're hoping for a deeper encounter with Jesus Christ, the Son of the Living God.
He has been born among us, lives among us, and by His Holy Spirit dwells in us. So, this is a kairos moment, a powerful time, an extraordinary time!
Join us as we reflect today on Romans 13:11-12 and be drawn into the extraordinary!

Do you long to grow in loving those around you yet sometimes find it a challenge in the day to day?
In this episode, Matt sat down with the wonderful, godly couple, Peter and Debbie Herbeck to discuss the Herbeck’s new book Lessons from the School of Love coming in January 2023.
Enjoy their insightful and often humorous stories of facing life's challenges and knowing God’s faithfulness. Though Peter and Debbie come from wildly different worlds, their marriage is founded on their mutual transformation by Jesus Christ. This beautiful conversation centers on faith, family, forgiveness, and love as they share life stories with Matt.
Peter Herbeck is the Executive Vice President and Director of Missions for Renewal Ministries. For more than thirty years, he has been actively involved in evangelization and Catholic renewal throughout the US, Canada, Asia, Africa and Eastern Europe. Debbie has worked extensively in youth and women’s ministry and has spoken at Franciscan University Conferences, Legatus chapters, and women’s events throughout the world. She is the founder and executive director of Pine Hills Girls Camp and the founder and director of the Be Love Revolution. When they are not writing books or traveling the world, they enjoy loving and celebrating life with their four children and nine grandchildren.
The Herbeck family motto is: “We make our aim to please the Lord”. Empowered through their marital vows and mutual commitment to Jesus, Peter and Debbie set a strong precedent for their children growing up in serving the Lord through all that they did and do.
The Herbecks share how Family is the school of love. Referring to the 2nd Key of Unbound, FORGIVENESS, Peter tells how families need to lavish forgiveness on each other and be in each other’s corner.
They take a deep dive into some practicals for responding to the call to parenthood. One snippet of their advice: have a weekly parent meeting where you talk about all the practical and important issues as well as seek the Lord together for decisions and prayer for your children. Listen for more!
Peter and Debbie share candidly about the many challenges they faced as parents and invite others to impact eternity by responding to this profound call.
Look out for the release of Lessons from the School of Love in early 2023!

As children of a loving God, we were created to live in relationship with Him. Yet often in our daily lives, we struggle with knowing who we are called to be. Why are we here? Where are we going? What is this all about?
1 John 3:1: "See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!"
How good to know His great love and how important to bring our children into a deeper knowledge and experience of God's blessing.
Join Rachel and Jacqueline as they reflect on the captivating children's book Will You Bless Me? and the powerful impact it had on their children and themselves. Listen as they share about creating a culture of blessing in their families and more deeply knowing the blessing of the Father for themselves.
Written by Neal Lozano and illustrated by Ben Hatke, Will You Bless Me? is a book for all ages that helps parents speak blessing over their child's identity. The book teaches both parent and child to ask for and receive blessings from their Heavenly Father through the gentle stories of Anna and Jesus.
The belief that who we are is determined by what we do is a lie from the enemy and the world--parent or child, we come down hard on ourselves if we fail to meet expectations placed on us. It is important that we are able to receive the words of encouragement that the Lord has for us and for who he made us to be.
Whether for children to receive blessings from their parents or for adults to meditate on the Father's encouragement, Will You Bless Me? illustrates the significance of speaking honor over our identities so that we may hold close the life God has for us and hold loosely that which does not define us.
Be filled with love and hope!

In this episode, Neal and Jacqueline reflect on two pillars of Unbound Ministry through their own stories of how the Holy Spirit has revealed to them the hidden love of God. First, knowing God’s delight—when we encounter the Lord we encounter His love. He desires deep fellowship with us but His heart breaks when we step away from Him. Whether we have always known His love for us or we struggle to feel worthy, Unbound focuses on removing the obstacles to knowing God’s love for us.
The second pillar is the necessity of the Holy Spirit to experience God’s love. Neal shares his own personal revelations of who the Holy Spirit is as a companion. St. Paul encourages us to have companionship with the Holy Spirit. The mission of the Holy Spirit is to reveal the love of God through Jesus Christ for the glory of God. When we lean into that and receive it, we can experience deep fellowship with the Spirit.
Experience the Love of God and go DEEPER in your walk with Him!
Mark 1:11 “And a voice came from Heaven, ‘You are my beloved Son; with you I am well-pleased.’”
2 Corinthians 13:14 “May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.”

Have you ever struggled with knowing God's personal love for you, believing that He loves you unconditionally? Do you know who you are as His daughter, as His son?
Today you are in for a treat as Janet hosts and Rachel shares her personal Unbound testimony about getting set free from confusion and more.
Rachel is our local ministry team leader and intake coordinator. She's an integral part of our team at Heart of the Father, overseeing countless projects and details. More importantly, she's Janet's wonderful daughter-in-law!
"I was insecure. I struggled with perfection and insecurity, and I had grown up in a home that felt very confusing. I had two parents that loved me but did not love each other. I had not been introduced to a Lord who loved me, and it led to confusion in my life about what it meant to be a daughter of God, what it meant to be a person in the world.
And so that (renouncing confusion) was really key for me in that session...
I definitely experienced the heart of the father during that Unbound session... and I really experienced the Father's love. I can look back and know how much He loves me."
Listen as Rachel talks about walking more deeply in her identity as a beloved daughter, and hear the cool story about how she met her husband and became part of the Lozano family!

Do you know the Lord but long to go deeper in your walk with Him?
Have you experienced a great loss in your life but have just believed that life goes on and so you just moved on?
Have you ever struggled with habitual sin, and no matter how hard you try you just can't seem to break free?
Or have you had a difficult relationship with someone and still have a hard time overcoming negative feelings about them?
The Lord longs for you to walk deeper in freedom and He desires to take you to new levels of healing and forgiveness.
Meet Tony and Toni, two beautiful souls from the Diocese of Wichita, Kansas, who lead a flourishing Unbound Ministry there. Listen as they both share with Rachel incredibly moving testimonies of God's faithfulness in touching the deepest places of their hearts, especially through forgiveness.
Listen as they talk about the power of renunciation and the beauty of saying YES to ministering to others.
Toni: And even after the Unbound session, I was still thinking about the freedom that came from forgiving that person for what they had done and truly releasing them. There is something to true forgiveness. Like until that point I had not experienced what true forgiveness was...
It was really difficult. I really had to dig deep and ask the Lord to help me with this, because this was something that I had carried around for quite some time.
And the next day I remember feeling like WOW, when I think about this person, I no longer have the feeling that I had before. I just didn't feel anything negative towards them (anymore).
Hear more about how the Lord changed their lives through the ministry of Unbound and why Tony and Toni long to share the message of freedom in Christ with others.

Have you heard about the Five Keys of Unbound? If so, well you are going to love this episode about going deeper with the Keys. If not, you'll still in for a wonderful treat.
The Five Keys are simple responses to the good news that help us to cooperate with God's grace. Each key helps us to access this grace and unlock the door to greater freedom.
The first three keys, Repentance and Faith, Forgiveness, and Renunciation, are about responding to the gospel.
Those keys are about turning to Jesus and expressing faith, and more deeply experiencing the power of His kingdom released into our hearts.
Then the last two keys are Authority and The Father's Blessing. These are really about the ministry of the Holy Spirit.
These keys work intimately together to both give expression to a person's heart as they cooperate with what God's doing, but also to proclaim the good news over a person’s life.
These keys are SO SIMPLE, yet SO DEEP. Every time we minister to someone, we learn something new along the way!
Join Matt and Jenn as they take us Deeper with the Keys and get into the layers of repentance, the less obvious need for forgiveness, and the power of revelation in renunciation.
Listen as they dive into learning not only about blessing a person's identity, purpose, and destiny, but taking it further by blessing areas in their lives that have been discouraged, hidden, or cursed.
Whether you are new to Unbound or have been leading ministry sessions for years, you will hear some profound insight and beautiful testimonies, and you'll be inspired along the way.

Join Janet as she interviews our friend Therese Griffin, and you'll hear a beautiful story of zeal for God's kingdom, hunger for more of Him, and a heart of compassion for the lost.
Aside from loving her expanding family, Therese is currently a physical therapist in Maryland, but her favorite thing to do (in her ownd words) "is just to minister to people on the streets and watch God move on people and see their faces light up". She loves to see lies broken about what they believed God thought of them and what God really thinks about them, whether ministering in an Unbound session, at a methadone clinic, or out on the streets.
"That is always the most joyful moment, getting to see what freedom looks like on a person's face or as they express it out of their heart, it's just really amazing. It is life changing for the person and it's food for my soul."

Matt's excited to interview one of our really good friends, John Paul Ngotty, a leader in the Catholic Charismatic Renewal in Tanzania.
John Paul traveled with Matt to different countries to share the message of Unbound. He has also trained hundreds and hundreds of people to use Unbound for deliverance.
John Paul loves Unbound for "we experience a real freedom" and after using Unbound Ministry instead of more confrontational deliverance models, people are "completely set free!"
"It's very easy, like coffee or tea! People get very free."
We pray that God gives John Paul more opportunities to travel and share the message of Unbound with many people. We believe he has a gift and a calling to share the message of freedom not only to Tanzania and Nigeria but beyond.
Join Matt and John Paul today for a powerful conversation about deliverance ministry made simple! You are going to LOVE him!
(Next week join us as Janet interviews our good friend Therese Griffin from Maryland. Then we'll be taking off the month of August- a good time to catch up on missed episodes!)

Join us today and you're going to hear a beautiful story of humility of heart, willingness to serve, and faithfulness to the call.
Our guest today, Ben Akery, reminds us of Samuel who heard the Lord's voice and responded, " Here I am, Lord; you called me?"
Ben is on the pastoral staff at Crosstown Church in Charleston, South Carolina. Born in Missouri, Ben spent most of his young life in Southern California.
He began his career as an engineer, which brought his wife and him to many different places. They moved frequently, but they always found themselves ending up in churches where they could serve and support.
Finally, in 2007, Ben and his late wife Candy were ordained into ministry at Crosstown Church in South Carolina. It was around this time that they discovered Unbound and have gone on to raise a great team and help many other teams get started.
A few of Ben's sweet and powerful musings:
"God doesn't want us to be tormented by anything-doubt, shame, fear, all those related spirits, all those things in the back of the (Unbound) book...
But I realize... that God sent Jesus Christ not only to save us from our sins, but also to give us the abundant life that we always hear about. The Holy Spirit convicted me that the peace that surpasses understanding, the one that can give us the joy of the Lord, is unlimited.
So there's no problem you have that's greater than the peace that God can give you... it can't be restricted at all by your ability to understand it, because if you were able to understand, it'd probably blow your head off!
I mean, it's just more than you can handle. So it's greater than we would ever need. It doesn't matter if we understand it or not. It's a peace that God gives us, not based on any of our own understanding."
Come be encouraged and inspired by Ben and Jen today.
You might just be blown away!

What is spiritual authority?
Authority is such an important part of our Christian life.
Yet, many of us don't have a good or clear understanding of the authority that we carry as followers of Christ.
So what is authority in the context of the Christian life?
Why is it important for us to walk in it?
John 1:12 says, "but to all who receive Him, who believe in His name, He gave the power to become children of God." The word translated power there is literally translated authority.
So, He's given us power and authority. Jesus has restored our identity as sons and daughters of God, and now we can use this power and authority to live in the freedom of who we are, the children of God.
But wait, there's more!
Authority is also given to us so that we can share in His mission- and two things about this mission.
Jesus has come to reveal the Father and to advance the Kingdom of God.
Remember the Prodigal Son story?
His father saw him and ran to him. He ran to him and he hugged him and he kissed him and he put a robe on him, put sandals on him, and he put a ring on his finger.
Join us today and get a deeper understanding of the "ring on your finger!"

Susana, a nurse by profession, cares for her husband and five kids while ministering through the Regnum Christi movement. She exudes a love for others and her passion is to see people set free.
Listen to her testimony of deep healing and forgiveness...and allow the Lord to take you deeper and deeper into His heart.
"How much He loves us and how much MORE He has in store for us."
Expect something beautiful!
"It was obvious that this was the way the Lord wanted me to walk so I read the books and then I took the Basic Training and after that the Mentoring, ( and then the Advanced Training.) I just, I just was so hungry, Rachel, for more, and I wanted to understand better and go deeper. So it was a beautiful gift to come across the training and the Five Keys, and to know that there was a nonconfrontational model that we could use to bring freedom to the people."

We're excited to introduce to you our good friend, Fr. Antonio Ritaccio. Fr. Antonio grew up the youngest of five children in an Italian Catholic family in Bedford, England, entered the seminary in 1990, and was ordained a diocese and priest for the Archdiocese of Westminster in 1999.
Since then he's had many chaplaincy roles, including Westminster Cathedral College of Chaplains, Diocesan Youth Chaplain, and more recently has been assigned Pastoral Director of the Archdiocesan Seminary in London among others. We're grateful he will be the Spiritual Director for the Catholic Priest Retreat: Training in Unbound Ministry this July 25-29 in Wichita, Kansas.
Hear how the Lord profoundly made Himself known and touched Fr. Antonio's heart as a young man. Listen as he shares his journey to the West Indies, and as the only Catholic priest around, got called upon to do deliverance ministry there.
Upon returning to London, he dove deep into learning all he could about deliverance, hopped on a plane to an Unbound Priest Retreat, and has been ministering using the Five Keys ever since.
"And I got a bit of a reputation...(people started showing up at my door) and I would find that I would go out in the morning and there would be people waiting for me to get prayer ministry. So I had to start hiding at one point because I just couldn't manage the amount of people coming to me daily."
Don't miss some powerful stories and profound insights.
"Unbound is really a very simplified synthesis of what the church teaches on baptism and the catechumenate."

Today, we have a treat for you. We share a great talk that Matt Lozano gave at our last in-person Leadership Conference called The Kingdom is a Family.
The gospel is a message of family. The gospel is the good news that the Father is inviting all to become members of His family. The gospel is covenant love offered to strangers. The gospel turns slaves into sons and daughters. The gospel ends division, and it makes one people out of two.
In Luke 7, Jesus went to a town called Nain, and His disciples, in a large crowd, went along with Him. As He approached the town gate, a dead person was being carried out, but not just a dead person, the only son of his mother.
The inheritance is dead. The legacy is gone. This is a widow. This is a widow who has lost her future. Her life is gone. And a large crowd from the town was with her, and the Lord saw her, and His heart went out to her. God is drawn to the orphan, the widow, and the alien. This is the response of the gospel.
He went up and he touched the coffin. They were carrying him on. He touched it. He reached out and grabbed ahold of death, and the bearer stood still. Isn't that awesome. Stop. the funeral.; Jesus is here!
He said to the man young man, "I say to you, get up." The dead man sat up and began to talk, and Jesus gave him back to his mother. The result of the kingdom's power is to bring dead men to life and give them back to their mothers. A son is reborn.
This is our model for ministry.
Family is where we belong. We are called to touch the place of death and destruction with the power of Jesus.
You won't want to miss this powerful episode.

What it's like to have a mom and a daughter share about Unbound ministry, looking back over many, many years and hearing about the fruit that it's produced in their lives?
Meet Carolina Prada, originally from Costa Rica, now married and raising her family in beautiful Vancouver, Canada. She and her husband have a powerful conversion story and then the Lord led them to serve in Apape Street Ministry, healing ministries, RCIA, and Unbound.
Hear her personal testimony of freedom from nightmares which led Carolina to bring Unbound to her church, her family, and friends.
Carolina: (On my behalf) my husband went to talk to a priest who told him to get the book (Unbound) and to do it right away. So he got the last copy and brought it home to me.
I read it…and the rest is history!
Hannah (her 15-year-old daughter): I got introduced to Unbound when I was three years old, which was a huge blessing. And since then my mom and I use it all the time and this has just built a beautiful relationship of trust between us…Our doing Unbound together has really helped me pinpoint things in my life that I need to get rid of like unhealthy attachments and such…
Carolina: In praying together, Unbound has basically created a very special bond between us because sometimes I'm the problem. I haven't realized it is something I've said or the way I've said it or the timing has just been so wrong. And then I offer Hannah (or my other children) prayer and as we pray at some point, it will come out…and it's this safe place where our Lord is so present, and they can really open up and just say exactly how they feel, without feeling shame or feeling afraid…we can truly open our hearts for Him to heal.
Whether you long to grow in listening, desire more healing in your family, or just want to be blessed, join us today and be filled with hope!

Meet Fr. Charlie Garza. He's a Catholic priest and the pastor at St. Albert the Great in the Austin, Texas area.
Fr. Charlie attended one of our Unbound priest retreats recently and has become a friend.
Listen as he shares candidly about his priestly call, his parish mission, and his desire to see others get set free to serve!
Fr. Charlie on on his call: "Believe it or not, one of the ways the enemy kind of held me back for a bit was through that shyness and just believing that I didn't have what it took to be a priest."
Fr. Charlie on the blessing of Unbound ministry at his parish: " We tried to do a catechesis, even small face sharing groups previously, and it just seemed like we kind of run into some hurdles. And what we found is that there were different blocks, in lies of the enemy, that our parishioners had bought into, unconsciously. So as we started to pray with people with the Unbound model, we found that people started to become more open in their relationship with Christ, but also in the ways that they started to step into true discipleship and serving. So it really helped to open up ways that people received the gospel in new ways. But I would say even more importantly, we're starting to spread and share the gospel in ways that they hadn’t (before).
Fr. Charlie on the Priest Retreat: "I think the blessing of that was that opportunity to let the guard down in a sense of...it's okay for me to receive and see my brother priests (receive) too. It's like, wow, I can receive; I don't have to give in this moment. I remember in my session with you, Matt, seeing the love that you have for me as a brother in Christ. I think that too was something very, very healing for me, because again, sometimes, the enemy has come at me like, okay, well, when are you going to be able to receive, you've always got to give, you've always got to give...so just in that mere fact of being ministered to myself, I would say, was very healing.
Join us today for this beautiful conversation that's not JUST for Catholics or for priests.

"And while he was still a long way off, his father saw him coming. " Luke 15:20
The father saw the son coming from far off, not so close that he would recognize his face, but he saw the son's gait and his stature and he recognized him.
There are two things there, one, that he recognized his son by just the outline of his body, and, and two, that he was looking for his son.
As parents, as moms, as dads, we can be looking for things in our children, looking for their hearts, listening to their hearts and seeing them, really seeing them.
So today join Rachel, Jenn, and Jacqueline as they share a little bit about walking through the mud of parenting and how the Lord comes and rescues. Embrace with them the joy of walking with some tools, especially those of forgiveness and blessing, while looking and listening for those moments to really see our kids.
Learn to let the power of the gospel and the responses of the five keys become a part of your family culture.
Blessing becomes a part of your life in big events like birthdays and graduations, but also in an everyday part of your life where you're looking- How can I speak blessing and truth into my kids' lives? How can we speak about their identity? That's all about what Unbound is- stripping away what our identity isn't and stepping into what our identity really is!

He works with Ascension Press, has been featured in many study programs, and has been the primary personality involved in Ascension Presents with weekly YouTube offerings. He's the host of several podcasts including the very popular Bible in a Year Podcast. He runs the Newman Center at the University of Minnesota Duluth, and he's the director of Youth and Young Adult Ministry for the Diocese.
Does he ever sleep?

Fr. Mike...
What inspired you to do a podcast, reading the Bible in a year?
What does freedom mean to you?
Could you share something in your life that maybe you see over time in your relationship with the Lord, like, oh, He actually brought more freedom into my life?
How do you help students break out of their stories, those small stories that kind of trap them?
How do you help folks to forgive who may be struggling to take that next step of forgiveness?
What's a good takeaway from the past year?
And, what's something that's feeding your soul these days?
Listen and listen again!
Share with a friend! You might just bring the hope they have been longing for!

Quite often at an Unbound conference, we’re asked if Unbound Ministry can be used with children. Neal’s first response is always that parents should receive so they really understand the Five Keys, but there's so much more to say to help parents minister to their children in this way.
Meet Sandi Lebel, an impressive servant of God and powerful force in the church. Hear some incredible stories of how the Five Keys of Unbound have significantly impacted her, her family, and her ministry.
Among many things, Sandi is on the National Service Committee for the Catholic Charismatic Renewal and in the Archdiocese of Miami and served as Program Director for Respect Life Pregnancy Help Centers. Later Sandi served there as an education coordinator, and she has spoken to thousands of teens in Catholic high schools on issues of life such as chastity and abortion.
Sandy is zealous for God and always joyful and enthusiastic and ready to serve. And those early years, when we at Heart of the Father were developing our training materials, she helped us transcribe leaders' training talks and transcribed and translated the Unbound Freedom and Christ DVDs into Spanish.
In this fun and enlightening conversation with Neal, you’ll hear how it’s just the most natural thing in the world to listen to your child and help them to respond to the truth of the gospel.
“(At my first Unbound conference) I was blown away by how profound the self-awareness without the self-condemnation in such a short amount of time that the Holy Spirit was doing.”
Shortly after, she had an opportunity to help her young son through a challenge.
“So I just told him, okay, sometimes when things like this happen, you have feelings that are stuck inside of you, but in Jesus' Name, we can kick them out. So then we started to renounce anger and sadness and guilt. Without me prompting him in any way, he started to just exhale and say, ‘Mommy, Mommy, they're leaving.’
Truly out of the mouths of babes. He even said, ‘I feel lighter.’ I mean, this was unbelievable to me to have been at a conference for three days and have read an entire book, and here’s an eight-year-old child instinctively knowing the power and anointing of the Holy Spirit.”
What's most incredible is how even now, as a young adult, her son sees the fruit of Unbound in his life and encourages all families to learn and use it with a heart of compassion and a posture of humility.
Come experience freedom and learn more about bringing greater freedom to your family, in a simple way, as you learn to listen to your child and help them to respond to the truth of the gospel.

Meet Joe and Becky Dougherty, prayer warriors and persistent missionaries, who are sold out for the Lord and for others. Join us as they share how God led them to Unbound and now serve as a couple both near and far. You have to hear their amazing story of how the Lord brought them together, a wonderful Unbound moment. Be inspired by other stories of God's presence changing lives and His miracles happening!
"I think we've both been blessed in the area of the prophetic and a lot of times we'll be praying with the person and through Unbound. And there's a moment when there's a Holy Spirit 'breakdown', and that's when I find that people's hearts are really touched.
It's in those Holy Spirit 'breakdown' moments that God just enters in. He starts to do things that we're not even thinking about or contemplating that He might be doing. We had a situation just recently where we were praying Unbound with an individual, and he was asking for one thing, but when we prayed with him, something happened in his chest.
I was just thinking, well, that's the Holy Spirit coming upon him. But later he wrote back to us and said, 'I think when you prayed with me, a miracle took place because I had this lump in my chest about the size of my thumb. Afterward, when I went home, it just became like the tip of my finger, I could feel it was different. So I want to get it x-rayed and the x-ray showed that it had almost entirely disappeared!' "
Yes, in God's presence miracles happen!

Is renunciation new? And what do you mean by authority?
Well, actually, renunciation is an ancient practice in the church, where since the third century at the time of baptism, candidates before baptism would declare, "I renounce Satan, and all of his works, and all of his empty promises." This liturgical formula has been repeated through the years in many Christian traditions.
Even as current as the Catholic Catechism is, we can learn about the importance of renunciation as its related to the spiritual battle. Renunciation is an important aspect of ongoing conversion. So it's not new! (In section, 2015, it says "there is no holiness without renunciation and spiritual battle").
We're all in a battle to walk faithfully with the Lord and both speaking renunciation and walking in the authority given to us in Christ Jesus can be powerful weapons in the path toward holiness.
Join Neal and Jenn as they take a deep dive into these keys and grow in your understanding of your inherent dignity as a child of God!

Join Jacqueline Harper and Allison Miller on a journey right back to the Father's Heart! Listen as they share about overcoming parenting challenges and powerfully loving others.
Hear some of Allison's incredible stories and be inspired to be a gift to others.
I had worked through a lot of forgiving. I had had an inner healing prayer, I knew that I was called to forgive. I really did. And the predominant person that I felt called to forgive in that period of my life was my relationship with my dad. My dad and I were a lot alike.
We wouldn't go toe to toe, but figuratively, we would. He was very driven and very intense ...
He drank a lot (while I was) a kid growing up. He really resolved that by the end of his life... but like I grew up scared of him.
I had forgiven him, but the beauty, I can't say enough about, learning how to relate to God, the Father, and Unbound and Abba's Heart, and just praying with people and hearing and praying myself, not just reading the books, but praying through the books and going to the conferences. It just enabled me to say yes to a deepening relationship with my Heavenly Father. And so I had to forgive my earthly father because so often those two things are related, how we relate to our Heavenly Father has to do with our difficulties, with our earthly father.
Have a laugh, wipe a tear, sing a song. You will feel all the feels!

We're excited about today's podcast with Rachel and Fr. Steven Borello, Director of Vocations for the Diocese of Joliet, IL, host of the Rooted in the Really Real podcast, and all-around amazing priest.
"I found that the keys have been a gift to be able to use and walk with, even in my own story... I began in 2015 with (Unbound) training, and then little by little using it and practicing it, to where it's become not only an ordinary part of my own daily life, but also an ordinary part of my spiritual direction, and at times confession and other (priestly) things for the people that I'm with.
It's been a great joy for me to see people get set free!"

Most of us know the importance of forgiveness, for peace of mind, for an improved sense of self, and even for physical health.
As Christians, we know that we are called to forgive, as God has forgiven us through His Son Jesus.
But why is it so hard to forgive?
Often people want to forgive or know they should forgive but end up failing to forgive from the heart.
What are those things that keep you from doing the very thing you really want to do?
Join Neal, Janet, and Jacqueline as they touch on some of the major obstacles to forgiveness.
For many people, this message of the power of forgiveness has been life-changing. Listen and share it with a friend!
Hebrews 12:15
See to it that no one is deprived of the grace of God, and that no root of bitterness may spring up and cause trouble, resulting in the defilement of many.
Ephesians 4:31-32
Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice.
Luke 6:27
But I say to you that listen, Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you...

What exactly is forgiveness?
Why is it even important?
Where does it come from?
How can we truly forgive if someone has really wronged us?
Why does it matter that we forgive from the heart?
If I forgive someone, do I have to be reconciled to them?
Join Matt and Jenn (married couple and parents of FIVE great kids) as they talk about forgiveness. Hear about the great mercy and love that the Father displayed when He sent His Son Jesus to pour out His life for us to extend God's mercy towards us, even when we were still sinners.

Have you ever experienced something that was so amazing that you just found yourself repeating a word over and over, as this something was so astounding, so beautiful, so overwhelming that you simply couldn’t really find the words to describe it?
When we're faced with the holiness of God, it's truly indescribable.
So how do we describe it?
How do we approach this HOLY God?
How could we ever even attempt to be holy ourselves?
The centerpiece of holiness is that we make ourselves available to God and we contemplate Him, as seeing Him transforms us into His own.
Matt’s talk today teaches us that seeing God as He is knowing Him as He is, and as we KNOW Him, He is going to transform us.
Join us. Let God transform you.
Let’s be all be more available to God and grow in holiness this Lent.

Don't miss Rachel Lozano and Gosia Wójcik as Gosia shares an incredible testimony about how the Lord called her to forgive, even in a most difficult circumstance.
" Just saying, 'Forgive them, Father, for they know not what they're doing.' It was a real choice for me because I felt completely justified in saying they should be punished for this. Yet I knew I had to choose this. I knew I wanted to choose this, to forgive them. When I did, everything changed completely."
Gosia and her husband, Robert, married for 25 years, have five beautiful daughters. They lead worship in their faith community and were founding members of the now 22 Houses of Mercy in Poland. Gosia has been Neal and Janet’s translator and friend since 1996. She personally took the initiative to translate UNBOUND and through much prayer and perseverance found a publisher. This book has now sold more than 40,000 copies in Poland. Amazing!

In today's episode, Matt and Fr. Boniface Hicks, OSB will be discussing Unbound Ministry and the Sacrament of Confession. How do these two powerful ministries fit together? This episode will be of great interest to Catholic priests, or any Catholic, and really anyone at all who's interested in conversion.
Fr. Boniface Hicks is a Benedictine monk of Saint Vincent Archabbey and a Catholic priest. He's also the Director of Spiritual Formation and leads the Institute of Spiritual Formation at St. Vincent Seminary. He's co-authored two books, Spiritual Direction: A Guide for Sharing the Father's Love and Personal Prayer: A Guide for Receiving the Father's Love.
A tremendous brother in Christ, he's a student of the human heart. He is both fascinated and drawn to the ways in which God's presence brings us healing in our hearts.
A glimpse at some of his wisdom from this powerful interview:
When we recognize the infinite dignity and the mystery of the person, when we make room in our own hearts and allow ourselves to weep with those who weep and to rejoice with those who rejoice, as Saint Paul says, when I make room in my heart to be moved- then when I find ways to express that ... just these little expressions of our presence to the person really helps them to receive... all of that provides the kind of framework in which a lot of healing can take place.
(Unbound Ministry) is such a beautiful opportunity to reverence the person, to hold them in their vulnerability, and hold them as the Father does, and then help them to see this is how they are eternally loved. This is the eternal love from which they were made.

Are you excited today? Well, we are. Today Matt and Jenn are going to continue with the theme for the month: repentance.
Learn how repentance is a gift as Matt and Jenn share personal stories of their lifelong processes of going deeper with repentance and faith as well as highlight an incredibly insightful reflection and the connection between grief and repentance through Neal's TIp #6 on Repentance and Faith in his Ministry Tips series (found on Youtube or our blog).
Matt: " So I was thinking about my conversion. And so, you know, the story, honey. I was at a swimming pool before my senior year in high school. I was talking to a friend who knew the Lord, and I just made that decision in that moment that I wanted to surrender. So I asked her to lead me in a prayer to surrender and give my life to the Lord.
I don't remember what she led me to pray, but I can tell you what was in my heart. What I was thinking as I was praying was, ' God, I don't know if you're real. I don't know if this is going to have any impact on my life. I don't really know anything except that I see your love in my friends who are following you. It gives me hope that it could happen for me, too.'
So I wanted something that they had, and I was willing to take the faith that I did have and give it to the Lord. As I prayed that prayer of surrender, I had all those doubts and unbelief, and yet by the end of the prayer, it was like, 'I truly believe, and I'm convinced in God's love and that He's real. '
It really made me think that we surrender with what we have. It doesn't have to be perfect. It doesn't have to be this extravagant fat faith, but if we give Him the incomplete faith that we have, it actually multiplies it. I think of that father of the demon possessed boy and how, at first he's saying, 'Jesus, if you can do anything, heal my son', and Jesus kind of confronts him about his lack of faith.
So the father cries out, 'Lord, I do believe; help my unbelief.' So just in the awareness of his need and his lack, he brought what he had to Jesus and it was enough. The boy was healed! So repentance is not about a perfect performance or running from our doubts or our fears. Rather it is taking what's there, taking responsibility for our lives in the moment, and wanting to come to Jesus and ask Him for more.
And when we do that, He brings His kingdom and the results can be real transformation."
Repentance is a GIFT! Join us for this and so much more in this episode.

Invitations are great, whether an invitation to dinner, a birthday party, or even a wedding. But did you know that God is always inviting us to go deeper, to know His love more fully, to enjoy a richer feast with Him? He longs to bless us beyond our expectations!
In Mark 1:15, when Jesus leaves the desert, he begins His public ministry with this proclamation, "The time has come. The kingdom of God is near! Repent and believe the Good News!"
What do you think about when you think about repentance? What did Jesus want us to know when He said, "repent and believe the Good News? "
When Jesus said those words, He tied together repentance and faith as one act of conversion. Repentance is a change of mind that is not focused on going back, but it's focused on going forward.
Jesus was presenting the Good News of the Kingdom. Jesus is offering us this opportunity, this invitation, to change our minds based on the reality of the Kingdom of God.
But what if we've already the Lord? What if we've already "believed the Good News?"
Did you know Jesus is always calling us to a deeper conversion, an interior repentance, and a continual returning to Him where he takes our pain and sorrow and the hardness of our hearts and gives us NEW HEARTS!
Come take a fresh look at repentance & faith with us and encounter Jesus in a new way today. Do you hear His voice calling you?

Meet Miriam Wright. You will never forget her!
If you have ever doubted the power of the gospel, listen to this podcast.
If you have ever felt that Jesus came to save sinners, but you are not blind, lame, or broken, listen to this podcast.
Listen to this podcast. Jesus has something just for you today!
"Because I found for me, Unbound was the way to access the power of the gospel in a way that I had just not understood was possible. What I came to realize was that the gospel isn't just news good news in the sense of, 'Oh, that's nice information like, oh, it's going to be a sunny day.' It was good news in a way that transforms.
I had no idea what the Lord had in store for me. I think we often make the mistake that we think in particular in the west that our self-sufficiency is enough and that we don't need the more that the Lord has for us. So we miss the opportunities. We miss the opportunities, and it was really Unbound that for me, for the first time, opened my understanding. "
Then stay tuned for an incredibly powerful moment of healing for Miriam.
God longs to heal all of our hearts.
Allow Him to touch yours today!

Join Neal and Jacqueline as they welcome Donna Drennen, LCSW and mother of six who runs a busy private practice in Philadelphia. Listen as she shares her experience of how Unbound and therapeutic counseling often go hand in hand.
"The more I continue to explore therapy and practices, it's more and more clear to me how psychologically sound the Five Keys are. They fit well into therapy in terms of listening and really hearing and honoring a person's dignity and their story.
The power of forgiveness is so essential and is being talked about more and more in therapeutic settings. 'Negative thought patterns' might be the way we as therapists would refer to lies and making vows. Then identity issues, which are so central, again as I shared, if I saw myself as an orphan-that was going to affect my entire perception of myself, my relationships... if you're believing something about yourself that's so wrong and untrue, it's obviously going to affect your whole life."
Be blessed as you hear personal and clinical testimonies of God's incredible healing power- you won't want to miss this episode!
We hear people talk a lot about freedom, but what is freedom really?
Many say that freedom is the ability to make a choice. So we might call that freedom from tyranny. "As long as no one's telling me what to do, I'm free."
The problem with that view is that it's kind of neutral. All choices are equally valuable. Yet we know that's not really true. Some choices lead us into bondage and some choices bring us joy. So going further back, we can find Thomas Aquinas's definition of freedom- the ability to know and choose the good.
So you perceive what is good and you choose it. That's actual freedom.
The definition that we work from comes from John 8:34-36. Jesus said, "Everyone who sins is a slave to sin. Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever. So if the Son sets you free, you'll be free indeed!"
At the root of our choices and at the root of knowing and choosing the good, there's the ultimate reality of knowing that you belong, that you're loved, and that you can experience a relationship with God where He's your father.
And so freedom is life in the Son. It's united to Jesus. He's redeeming our humanity, and it's from that perspective that we can actually see what is good and make those choices. 1 John 3:1 says, "How great is the love the Father has lavished on us that we should be called the children of God."
That's our true identity. When we live from that identity, we're free.
Listen as Rachel and Matt offer insight and even share some of their own personal stories of getting set free!
What exactly is freedom? What is deliverance?
Deliverance is one of the great themes of scripture. Israel was delivered out of bondage to Egypt and under Pharaoh's authority and brought into the promised land. This is the foundation for us because it's really a picture of what happens to all of us in Christ - we were delivered out of slavery, out of bondage, into freedom.
It's really summed up for us in Colossians 1:13 where the bible tells us says that He has delivered us from the kingdom of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Beloved Son.
We've been delivered from the Father of Lies and his influence, and we've been brought under the Father of the Beloved Son.
The Lord longs to give you the victory! Join us today to learn more about how deliverance is a normal part of every Christian's walk; indeed, deliverance is a GOOD WORD!

So I went... I knew, I just felt so at home.
And I had the sense that I was on very solid ground.
Here's a very safe, clear, solid way for me to begin to help people heal.
I had a very obvious sense of that. This is not just for me, but actually for our local church. And in fact, the church universal needs this because we're suffering because we're not healed. Right?
Join Rachel and Meghan as they share about this really profoundly beautiful thing!

You'll also get to hear about what's happening in the UK and the awesome ways the Lord is using Sue to touch hearts.
"I've described it to people as it was like, well, it was the feeling of being stuck, like stuck in mud and this piece of glass between me and God.
And I would reach out and you could see God reaching for me, but I just couldn't make that connection. And it didn't matter how hard I tried, how much I repented, how much I read books and said my prayers and went to church ...I still sensed this block, that there was more, that there was something kept away from me that something was holding me back from this intimacy."

What does it mean that the human heart is the same throughout the world?
Neal describes that though each person and their story is incredibly unique, the human heart is the same wherever we go.
"Well , we really think of the Five Keys as presentation of the gospel and an invitation for people to respond.
We've met people all over the world and they all have unique stories... what's happened to them in times of darkness, in times of abuse, in times of neglect. Everyone has their own story, but we find that if you look past the story, it's basically how the human heart has responded to these situations. The gospel is there to meet them!"

Gilbert Rodriguez is the leader of The Fire Place, a ministry based in New York City that exists to awaken hearts to burn for Jesus and revival in His church.
Gilbert is also the Director of Evangelization for the parishes of Blessed Virgin Mary Help of Christians and St. Bartholomew in Queens, New York.
Listen as he shares with Rachel how the Lord touched him profoundly and how he's been giving it away, especially to the Spanish Speaking Community!
Back in 2012, he went to a confession with a Franciscan Friar of the Renewal. There were things he shared in that confession that led the priest to recommend Unbound.
" And these sessions culminated in an Unbound prayer where he led me through the keys, and words cannot explain what I experienced that day. There was so much breakthrough healing...
There was a weight that was lifted off.
Also after that session, I saw very tangible fruit in my life...
So this was the spring, and in the fall of that year, I got engaged to the woman who's now my wife.
That session freed me from the fear of commitment, the fear of saying yes to my vocation.
There's also been a courage and a boldness to walk in my identity as a son of God and a courage to continue to say yes to all these different doors that the Lord has as opened...
All I can say is deep in my heart, I just knew God was (in Unbound) and I knew that His hand was on it.
This message of freedom is going to be at the core of revival."

It's Testimony Time!
Meet Jude Christopher who leads Unbound New Hampshire and Abba House of Mercy and Prayer at St. Andre Bessette Parish. Join Rachel and Jude and hear how the Lord set Jude powerfully free from painful childhood wounds as she entered into deep forgiveness and how He called her into ministry to others.
Excerpts from her testimony below, but you'll want to listen to the whole thing!
"In Unbound, I saw that the Five Keys were a way of getting rid of all of that 'stuff.' I was overjoyed and I couldn't wait.
I picked up the phone and I called somebody and asked for an Unbound session.
I thought, 'I'm willing to do anything to get set free.'
So in the course of that session, I forgave my dad on numerous levels, and my mother, and a lot of other people, but my dad, mostly, for the abandonment of the family (for he'd spend all of April to November on the golf course, mostly at the 'nineteenth' hole, and you didn't want to be around him when he came home.)
And about two hours later, I left that place and my legs were like rubber ... and I got in my car and started driving home.
Then I realized that I had been sitting in Pro Shop at a golf club, and the man who prayed deliverance with me was the golf pro. I thought, 'God, you've got such a sense of humor.'
I laughed all the way home. I just couldn't believe that God would be that personal, that He would know where the biggest wound in my life was and bring me there.
It was the next morning when I woke up and looked at the picture of Jesus on the wall and I said, 'I'm new!'
I knew that I had experienced and was experiencing that scripture in 2nd Corinthians 5:17 that says, 'If anyone is in Christ, he's a new creation. The new has come; the old has passed.'
I knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that I was new and I would never again, in my whole life, be afraid to raise my hand."

Have you heard it said, "Change your mind, change your life?" Seems too easy, though.
Yet at Heart of the Father, we believe repentance is a change of mind that results in a changed life. Jesus said, “The kingdom of God is near. Repent and believe the good news!”
Join Matt and Jacqueline as they discuss how the Five Keys are simple responses to the good news that help us to cooperate with God's grace. Each key helps us to access this grace and unlock the door to greater freedom.
The first three keys, Repentance and Faith, Forgiveness, and Renunciation, are about responding to the gospel. Jesus announced that has His kingdom had come, that He'd come to set us free!
We are truly free when the obstacles to God’s love have been removed and the Father’s love and affirmation is made real to us in Christ.
