Chapter 6: Mr. Gardiner goes to help Daddy Bennet find Lydia. A letter arrives from Collins. Daddy Bennet comes home and admits to having been wrong. Highlights include trouble in paradise with Daddy Bennet, Collins's Facebook profile, and Kitty being held captive.
Chapter 7: Mr. Gardiner writes saying he's found Lickham and states the terms on which they will get married. It seems like Mr. Gardiner paid Wickham off to take Lydia. Highlights include Mrs. Bennet's Mushu moment and Mrs. Long's comeback.
Chapter 8: Mr. Bennet is content to let Mr. Gardiner solve the Lydia problem, though we question the respectability of the transaction. Lizzy throws herself a pity party. Highlights include oppressively high spirits, the disowning of daughters, and the north of England vs. south.
Study Questions: Topics discussed include mapping out the search for Lydia, our first Bennet marriage and its ramifications, Wickham's skills in bed, Molly's predictions for the future of Lickham and Lady Catherine De Bourgh's opinions on this, what happened with Wickham's debts and why Daddy Bennet is anxious to pay Gardiner back, Mr. and Mrs. Bennet's reactions to the marriage, and the future of Dizzy.
Funniest Quote: "You, go to Brighton! I would not trust you so near it as Eastbourne for fifty pounds! No, Kitty. I have at last learned to be cautious, and you will feel the effects of it. No officer is ever to enter my house again, nor even to pass through the village. Balls will be absolutely prohibited unless you stand up with one of your sisters, and you are never to stir out of doors til you can prove that you have spent ten minutes of every day in a rational manner. Well, well. Do not make yourself unhappy. If you are a good girl for the next ten years, I will take you to a review at the end of them."
Questions Moving Forward: Will Lickham stay together? How will they be received at Longbourn? Will Darcy come back? Will Bingley come back?
Who wins the chapters? Mr. Gardiner!
