Capture of escaped fugitive Danelo Cavalcante manhunt over
Residents of the Philadelphia suburbs where an escaped inmate has spent two weeks hiding in woods and fields, eluding hundreds of police officers engaged in a high-tech manhunt, said they could finally “open the blinds” again after he was captured on Wednesday morning, hemmed in by a tactical unit and subdued by a police dog.
A “heat signal” detected by a federal law enforcement aircraft led the authorities to Danelo Cavalcante, 34, who was sleeping with a stolen rifle in a wooded area about 15 miles north of Chester County Prison. The Brazilian national had clambered up a jail wall and escaped on Aug. 31.
