Martin McAloon is a British musician best known as the bassist and founding member of the band Prefab Sprout, formed in 1978 alongside his brother, singer-songwriter Paddy McAloon. While Paddy took on the primary role of writing and vocals, Martin's bass playing became an integral part of the band's distinctive sound, which blends pop, rock, and sophisticated arrangements. Prefab Sprout gained recognition in the 1980s with critically acclaimed albums like Steve McQueen (1985) and From Langley Park to Memphis (1988), with hits such as "When Love Breaks Down" and "Cars and Girls."
