Today’s episode is one of miracles and heartache - featuring the long journey of birth photographer and mother of two, Amy.
After losing one of her fallopian tubes to an ectopic pregnancy and being told by a specialist that she had minimal chances of conceiving naturally, Amy finally got her miracle baby. Although feeling overwhelmed with gratitude for her healthy baby, it wasn’t until her work as a birth photographer and witnessing the power of physiological, women-centred birth that she reflected and faced her past pregnancy and birth trauma. After suffering more loss, it was time for Amy to take back her power and gain control over her autonomy. She shares how she battled the fear and self-doubt anchored within after making the decision to homebirth her second son, an experience that deeply healed her, and how one act of compassion from a friend sent her on the path to become an award-winning birth photographer. There are moments of sorrow scattered throughout Amy’s journey but mostly courage, strength and resilience. My wish is that Amy’s story can be a beacon of hope for any listeners struggling with fertility.
