On today’s show we hear the two positive birth stories from Perth mother, Sara.
When a friend suggested she look into her local birth centre, she felt it was the perfect place to birth her first baby. Although she had a challenging postpartum healing from an episiotomy, she knew she would return to the birth centre for her second child. It was only when a midwife suggested she try for a homebirth through the hospital that she opened herself up to the idea of birthing her second baby at home. Excitement for her new birth plan grew as she dove deeply into the homebirth world, but unfortunately a diagnosis at her 20 week scan labelled her too high-risk to be signed off for a homebirth. Feeling deflated, a visit to her Hypnobirthing practitioner helped Sara regain the confidence in herself and her baby to have a physiological birth, regardless of where it may be, and she went on to have the powerful, intervention-free birth experience she desired.
