EXPANDED BIBLICAL WARFARE PRAYER: The Prayer of Jehoshaphat Against Overwhelming Odds

NOTE:  This prayer has been recorded TWICE, first for listening and agreeing, then again for repeating. 

2 Chronicles 20 serves as the template for this prayer of warfare against the seemingly overwhelming powers of the enemies of God and His Church. 

The original scriptural text is of itself a powerful confirmation of the purposes and integrity of God, who will always intervene to safeguard the inheritance of His Son. As we are the very members of the Body of Christ, and God is our Father, it is our need and duty to call upon the Lord to protect us against the enemy's firepower. Listen to the original text here:

The text of the scripture is in lower-case type, while all additions (and modernized language) are included in upper-case type, below. 

HEAVENLY FATHER,

WE ACKNOWLEDGE AND CONFESS OUR SINS AND ASK FORGIVENESS AND WASHING IN THE BLOOD OF JESUS. WE FORGIVE THOSE WHO HAVE CURSED US AND USED ALL MANNER OF WITCHCRAFT AGAINST US, FOR WE DO NOT KNOW WHOM YOU MAY YET HAVE CHOSEN FOR SALVATION IN JESUS CHRIST. LORD, WE PRAY THAT YOU WILL SAVE THOSE WHO ARE AT THIS TIME CAPTIVE TO THE DEVIL'S WILL. TURN TO YOUR GOOD PURPOSES WHAT THE DEVIL HAS MEANT FOR EVIL, AND TURN TO YOUR GLORY AND PRAISE WHAT THE DEVIL HAS MEANT FOR ACCUSATION AND BLASPHEMY. 

O Lord God of our fathers, AND OUR LORD AND SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST, ARE YOU not God in heaven? FOR WE KNOW, BECAUSE YOU HAVE TOLD US, THAT YOU ARE GOD, THAT YOU ARE IN HEAVEN, AND THAT YOUR NAME IS HOLY.

DO YOU not RULE over all the kingdoms of the EARTH? and in YOUR hand is there not power and might, so that none is able to withstand YOU? FOR WE KNOW, BECAUSE YOU HAVE TOLD US, THAT YOU DO RULE OVER ALL, AND THAT THERE IS NO POWER OR MIGHT BUT YOURS, AND THAT NO MAN, OR WOMAN, OR RULER, WHOEVER THEY MAY BE, GREAT OR SMALL, IS ABLE TO WITHSTAND YOU.

O LORD, ARE YOU not our God, who CREATED ALL THINGS ACCORDING TO YOUR OWN WILL AND PURPOSE? WHO HAS WAGED WAR, AND PREVAILED OVER ALL HIS ENEMIES, SINCE THE FOUNDATION OF THE WORLD? WHO HAS DESTROYED THE WORKS OF THE DEVIL AND EXPELLED HIM FROM HIS STRONGHOLDS? 

FOR WE KNOW, BECAUSE YOU HAVE TOLD US, THAT YOU ARE OUR GOD, THAT YOU ARE VICTORIOUS IN ALL VICTORY. 

WE KNOW, BECAUSE YOU HAVE TOLD US, THAT YOU HAVE MADE US YOUR CHURCH AND THE DWELLING PLACE OF YOUR PRESENCE, IN OUR MIDST AND IN THE EARTH.

O LORD, DID YOU NOT drive out the inhabitants of THE land OF CANAAN before YOUR people Israel, and DID YOU NOT GIVE it to the seed of Abraham YOUR friend forever? 

O LORD OUR GOD, HAVE YOU NOT GIVEN UNTO US THIS INHERITANCE, THAT WE HAVE BECOME YOUR RIGHTEOUSNESS, THAT NO WEAPON THAT IS FORMED AGAINST US SHALL PROSPER, THAT WE SHOULD CONDEMN EVERY TONGUE THAT RISES AGAINST US WITH THE FALSE JUDGMENTS OF THE EVIL ONE? AND HAVE YOU NOT GIVEN THIS WORLD TO BE THE INHERITANCE OF THOSE WHO LOVE YOU IN SPIRIT AND IN TRUTH?

LORD JESUS, THE LORD'S CHRIST, HAVE YOU NOT SAID THAT WHATEVER WE ASK OF THE FATHER IN YOUR NAME, IF IT BE HIS WILL, IT SHALL BE GIVEN TO US? IS IT NOT WRITTEN IN YOUR WORD THAT, when evil COMES upon us, as the sword, judgment, or pestilence, or famine, and WE cry unto YOU in our affliction, then YOU WILL hear and help US?

And now, O LORD, behold, the children of THE DEVIL, whom YOU, IN YOUR RIGHTEOUSNESS AND LOVING KINDNESS, HAVE NOT YET CAST INTO THE LAKE OF FIRE; Behold, I say, how they reward YOUR CHURCH FOR OUR PRAYERS ON THEIR BEHALF, AND FOR SPEAKING YOUR WORD IN YOUR NAME, AND FOR REJECTING THE LIES OF THE DEVIL. LOOK, AND SEE, O LORD, HOW THEY HAVE come to cast us out of YOUR possession, which YOU HAVE given us to inherit.

O our God, WILL YOU not judge them? HEAR US, LORD! HELP US, LORD! JUDGE THEM, O RIGHTEOUS GOD! FOR WE ARE SORELY AFFLICTED, for we have no might OF OUR OWN against this great company that COMES against us WITH DEFILED FOOD, WITH SCHEMES AND WEAPONS OF TECHNOLOGICAL MANIPULATION, WITH ECONOMIC WARFARE, WITH ENVIRONMENTAL HAVOC, WITH POLITICAL VIOLENCE AND FRAUD, AND ABOVE ALL, WITH BLOODY HANDS GRASPING TO TAKE OUR CHILDREN AND DESTROY THEIR HEARTS, MINDS, AND SOULS; 

O LORD OUR GOD, WE HAVE ONLY OUR HOPE IN YOU, neither DO we KNOW what to do OR HOW TO FIGHT SO GREAT A MULTITUDE OF EVIL; but our eyes are upon YOU, OUR HOPE IS IN YOU, OUR EARS ARE OPEN TO YOUR WORD, AND OUR HEARTS ARE WAITING FOR THE STRENGTH OF YOUR HOLY SPIRIT AND YOUR MIGHTY ARM.

AND NOW WE KNOW, O LORD, WE KNOW, BECAUSE YOU HAVE TOLD US, THAT WE NEED NOT BE afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude OF WICKED MEN AND WOMEN; for the battle is not OURS, but God's. WE KNOW, BECAUSE YOU HAVE TOLD US, THAT WE WILL SEE see the salvation of the Lord with US.

YOU HAVE COMMANDED US TO go out against them: for YOU, the Lord, will be with US. TEACH OUR HANDS TO WAR AND OUR FINGERS TO FIGHT, WIELDING THE SWORD OF YOUR SPIRIT. WASH AWAY OUR SINS IN THE BLOOD OF THE LAMB AND COVER US WITH THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF JESUS CHRIST. SHINE THE LIGHT OF YOUR COUNTENANCE UPON US AND THROUGH US SO THAT ALL WILL KNOW THAT WE BELONG TO YOU. LET ALL THE EARTH HEAR THE TESTIMONY OF THE GOSPEL OF OUR SALVATION IN JESUS CHRIST. SEND THE HOLY SPIRIT TO QUICKEN YOUR WORD IN US AND EXPOSE AND DESTROY EVERY LIE OF THE DEVIL THAT IS SENT AGAINST US. GIVE TO US A STRONG SHIELD OF FAITH, FOR YOU ARE THE AUTHOR AND FINISHER OF OUR FAITH, AND YOU, O LORD, HAVE COMMANDED OUR STRENGTH. STRENGTHEN THAT WHICH YOU HAVE WROUGHT IN US. 

HOLY, HOLY, HOLY IS THE LORD GOD ALMIGHTY, WHICH IS, AND WAS, AND IS TO COME. HIS MERCY MOUNTS UNTO THE HEAVENS, HIS MERCY ENDURES FOREVER. THE HEAVENS AND THE EARTH ARE FULL OF YOUR GLORY. HOSANNA IN THE HIGHEST, HOSANNA TO THE SON OF DAVID. BLESSED IS HE THAT COMES, IN THE NAME OF THE LORD, TO JUDGE THE LIVING AND THE DEAD. 

WE HAVE NO HOPE BUT YOU, O LORD. OUR EYES ARE UPON YOU, O GOD. COMMAND DELIVERANCES FOR YOUR PEOPLE, IN THE ALMIGHTY NAME OF JESUS CHRIST YOUR SON, WHO IS OUR KING AND OUR BROTHER, AND OUR FRIEND. AMEN.
