Because medicinally, every part of the tree – actually it is considered to be a type of small bush – every part is used – berries, flowers, leaves, bark, pith and roots – to cure a variety of ailments such as epilepsy, asthma, inflammation of the eyes, fever, colds and flu, sore throats and bruises and as such, it is known as the Medicine Chest of the Country People.
