What do you get when you combine guitar virtuosity, hard rock and heavy metal influences by the classic 1980s sound, and a great sense of humor? You get Shockwire – the brainchild of Peterborough, Ontario, Canada’s Jawn Whitten. Forming Shockwire from the ashes of SuperQuest (https://youtube.com/user/superquestrock), Jawn took his love and talent for music, comedy, and content creation, and took it up 10 steps (some even say up to 11). Having discovered a new following on Instagram, Jawn has amassed over 17,000 followers on his own, and through word of mouth from his fans. Never one to be complacent with his content, he’s consistent with output and delivers on all fronts. I discovered Jawn by accident. I entered “guitar” in the search engine for Instagram, and one of his “normal speed/slow motion” videos showed up. I thought it was one of the funniest videos I had seen in a long time, and quickly added it to my stories. From there, I was being asked “who is this guy,” and I had to find out more. Needless to say, Jawn and I hit it off immediately with our love of AC/DC and Def Leppard. This interview shows it, and is one of the most fun times I’ve ever had recording an episode.
