Trixie is concerned for Doreen Lunt, living in squalor with her ragged-looking children and beleaguered husband Gordon. She learns that the depressed mother fears she will be locked up as mentally ill, like her father, who died in an asylum, but Dr Turner makes another, more disturbing, diagnosis. Whilst Fred and Violet organise a beauty contest, Trixie must make a hard decision regarding herself, and Christopher. Magda puts herself in danger after making a frightening discovery.
