This week - excitement at the return of Ridley Scott as our Alien adventure takes us up to 2012’s origin story, Prometheus. Can it live up to Scott’s spectacular original? Or is it actually quite a lot like Alien Vs Predator? To paraphrase Lawrence of Arabia, "Certainly it's bad... the trick is not minding that it's bad".

David Fincher's 1992 film is dark and divisive. Following a difficult production, the film reviewed badly and disappointed fans of the more cohesive Alien and Aliens. Over time the film has developed a sympathetic cult following of ardent supporters - but will Nath, Rob, and Dave be among them? Listen to find out!

After the meticulous horror of Ridley Scott's Alien comes the muscular genre perfection of James Cameron's Aliens. Have we had two better films in a row yet on Redshirt Cinema Club? Ahaha, no, we have not.
Join us as we battle past simply enjoying the heck out of this movie and try to say something meaningful and worthwhile. How does Aliens expand the horizons of Alien while remaining consistent to its core ideas? What gives the film its slick momentum and intensity? And look - LOOK - at how cool everything is! Just look at it!
Are we still Alien fans? Yes we are, but join us anyway!

A new chapter dawns as Redshirt Cinema Club returns both to the silver screen and to space with the Alien series - a set of movies we'd all consider ourselves fans of despite acknowledging lots of them are a bit rubbish. As we take this journey through one of cinema's most iconic franchises we'll be repeatedly asking ourselves the question - are we still Alien fans? Let's find out!

It's Dave's last chance. One final double bill of Doctor Who. One last attempt at drawing out the Whovian we're convinced lurks within. Can Jodie Whittaker's Doctor swoop in and save the day? This Bond-inspired romp is unlike any Who we've watched so far, featuring car chases, globe-trotting set pieces and Lenny Henry. What will Dave make of it?

Dave's Doctor Who enjoyment rollercoaster took a plunge last week thanks to the Weeping Angels unforgivably breaking both necks and rules - can we get him back on track with today's episode, 'Heaven Sent'? A mature, challenging fan-favourite from the Capaldi era, this surely has the makings of something Dave will love. Let's find out what he makes of it!

It's Dave's turn! After three months of forcing Rob to watch Star Trek the eye of fandom turns on our former captain - it's time to show Dave some Doctor Who. We're starting this week with two episodes from the Christoper Eccleston era - 'Rose' and 'Dalek'. It's all change on the Enterprise (and the entire timeline, actually) as a new cast and crew take the helm of our beloved franchise. But change isn't necessarily good, and neither are some of the accents...
Will the redshirts see past all the lens flare? Can Leonard Nimoy fulfil the needs of the many? And is Karl Urban's Dr McCoy inspired or merely an imitation? We'll be hotly contesting all of the above AND MORE in this episode, before broaching the most important question of them all - is Rob a Star Trek fan yet?

Not content with the leading role in every Star Trek thing ever, William Shatner takes a seat in both the captain's and the director's chair for Star Trek V: The Final Frontier.
So how will Shatner's Trek directorial debut compare to what's come before? If you guessed 'More unicorns, Uhura takes her clothes off, and Spock shoots God in the face?' - my word you're good, which is more than we can say for the actual movie. OR IS IT? Perhaps watching The Final Frontier as the next step on our Trek trek lends it enough context as to soften our hearts. Is Rob a Star Trek fan yet? Listen to find out…

Star Trek: The Motion Picture might have been slightly rubbish but, powered by the love of the fans, it earned enough money to defy critics and turn a profit. And so Paramount greenlit a sequel - Star Trek II: The Wrath Of Khan.
What will Rob make of this more classic take on Trek? Will the team ever recover from Ricardo Montalbán's astonishing pecs? And will the childhood trauma of Khan's brain eels have faded by the time you're 43 (spoilers: Nath says no)? We'll be answering these and literally several other questions in this episode.

It’s December 1979 and, after a decade of hoping, waiting, and campaigning, your favourite science-fiction series - perhaps the most influential of all time - is finally making a triumphant comeback on the big screen. Star Trek: The Motion Picture is here.
What will Rob make of his first ever Star Trek film? To find out, our three hosts discuss Star Trek: The Motion Picture in depth, and ask Rob for his verdict in the form of a Warp score. Rob also gives his sci-fi recommendations based on the film, and Nath sets the scene for next week’s movie.
Is Rob a Star Trek fan yet? Listen to find out…

In the very first episode of Redshirt Cinema Club, hosts Dave and Nath explain why it’s so baffling to them that Rob has never seen Star Trek and what they plan to do about it (spoilers: it’s to make a podcast about watching Star Trek). We quiz Rob to gauge his starting level of Trek knowledge, and then give him the chance to talk about his favourite non-Trek science fiction. Finally, we set the scene for our first movie - Star Trek: The Motion Picture.
Episode 2, featuring our discussion of Star Trek: The Motion Picture, is available now.

We are very excited to welcome you to Redshirt Cinema Club, a new podcast from the creative team behind the award-winning YouTube channel, PlayStation Access.
Hosts Dave, Nath, and Rob have been working together for over ten years, sharing a love of games, films, and science fiction. Except somehow, Rob has never seen Star Trek...
To correct this (and as an excuse to spend time together) we devised a plan - to make Rob into a Star Trek fan using the scientific method of watching all of the Star Trek movies in chronological order.
Will this be the start of a Rob's Star Trek journey? Or the very public end of a friendship? Please join us for a weekly adventure in fandom, films, and science-fiction.
Our first two episodes will be released on Monday 10th June 2024, with new episodes following every Monday.
