Hope started in the wellness space with her studio, inBalance, because she wanted to create a space for women to find everything they were looking for in one convenient location. After running her studio for a bit, Hope realized that the only way to give women the comprehensive experience she wanted them to have in her studios was to complete the wellness equation, and that was to combine exercise with nutrition.  Hope quickly learned as a nutrition coach that basic nutrition coaching wasn’t enough for people. The ladies she was working with were dealing with issues that they were just attributing to the “regular parts of aging” or that just losing some weight or body fat would help, but Hope knew this wasn’t the case. There were women who were dealing with chronic hormonal imbalances, joint pain and stiffness, chronic gut issues, thyroid issues and so many more things that were causing them to feel less than their healthiest selves. Hello, Alchemist! Today is all about Reiki…Star Nation Reiki, with Marie Morohoshi. A daughter of immigrants, Marie is a queer nisei (second generation Japanese American) activist and Reiki-Master Teacher. Marie’s deep affinity for ceremony and nature was seeded at the age of six when she began her rigorous training in Chado (The Way of Tea) and Kado (The Way of Flowers), practices rooted in Japanese Zen Buddhism. These practices and many others that followed would lead to the cumulative effect that informs her current Reiki practice, ways of teaching and being in the world. Happy Monday, Alchemist! Beyond a technique, Reiki is an energy, the expression of life force that animates all living things. Once you become aware of this essence that IS, what begins to happen to you and your life experience? Ifetayo White, founder of The Lowcountry School of Reiki, joins us today to share her beautiful experiences of growing in, through and with Reiki. Ifetayo graduated from Howard University in 1967, and after working as a Russian translator, and for a non-partisan office in the U.S. House of Representatives, her heart compelled her to offer touch healing. Subsequently she became certified in reflexology, Jin Shin Do Acupressure and eventually massage therapy, all the while continuing to study meditation practices, intuitive development, metaphysics, world religions, and traditional spiritual and shamanic practices.  In 1995 Ifetayo became attuned Reiki I and II; and was initiated as a Usui Reiki Master Teacher in 1999. In February 2020 she was attuned Shinpiden Reiki III by Frans Steine of the International House of Reiki. Ifetayo has continued to share sessions in-person and remotely, and teach and nurture students since her first attunements almost 30 years ago. Miri Klements and Tammy Schoolcraft teamed up in 2016 based on their mutual passion for providing Reiki to patients dealing with healthcare challenges. I was recently asked, what is Reiki for… Well, the usually description is that it’s an energy balancing technique, used for relaxation, to support release or balancing of physical pain, etc… Which is all true, but what isn’t usually expressed, and what is the greatest gift of Reiki, in my experience, is that it clarifies your expression, your life experience and helps you to work through layers of old ideas, wounds, restrictions and so on. I started with Reiki as a way to help alleviate stress and to gain mental clarity, but what I got was so much more! Reiki Radio: The Lovers of Tarot - What is your relationship with YOU? Yes, we learn a lot through our relationships with others - we are beautiful mirrors for each other, but there is another union that also requires love and nurturing. The highest form of union is Spiritual, the "marriage" of feminine and masculine within you. We often see this depicted as the two snakes, intersecting, as they ascend from the base of the spine and meet at the third-eye (awareness). This is how we "wake up" - it's through the acknowledgement of our human nature, and then using the tools of the Magician to master it all (mind, emotion, will and creation) in order to reveal what is guarded by the High Priestess.
