WASHINGTON — Amid concerns about people being misled, the Internal Revenue Service recently reminded taxpayers and heath spending plan administrators that personal expenses for general health and wellness are not considered medical expenses under the tax law.

This means personal expenses are not deductible or reimbursable under health flexible spending arrangements, health savings accounts, health reimbursement arrangements or medical savings accounts FSAs, HSAs, HRAs, and MSAs.

This reminder is important because some companies are misrepresenting the circumstances under which food and wellness expenses can be paid or reimbursed under FSAs and other health spending plans.

Some companies mistakenly claim that notes from doctors based merely on self-reported health information can convert non-medical food, wellness and exercise expenses into medical expenses, but this documentation actually doesn’t. Such a note would not establish that an otherwise personal expense satisfies the requirement that it be related to a targeted diagnosis-specific activity or treatment; these types of personal expenses do not qualify as medical expenses.

Super Bowl Champ and Green Bay Packers Hall of Famer, Ken Ruettgers, discusses censorship and trying to improve America's medical system in this episode.

Ken Ruettgers was born in Bakersfield, CA and attended Garces Memorial High School before heading to the University of Southern California (USC) on an athletic scholarship. Ken was a first-round draft choice (seven overall) of the Green Bay Packers and culminated a 12-year career with a Super Bowl season in 1996 (Super Bowl XXXI). Ruettgers and his family moved to Oregon when he took a job with Multnomah Publishers as editorial director. In 2000, he left publishing and started a none-profit, GamesOver.org, to assist athletes with the challenges of sport career transition. Ken currently is a tenured professor and teaches sociology at Central Oregon Community College and is the department chair for Social Sciences. Ken earned his undergraduate in business as well as an MBA. He holds a PhD in sociology from Oxford Graduate School. Ruettgers was inducted into the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame in 2013. He is the author of “Homefield Advantage: A Dad’s Guide to the Power of Role Modeling”. Ken is married to Sheryl and they have three adult children.

RFK Jr interviews, Isaiah Harris, an 18-year-old from Springdale, Arkansas, who suffered heart problems within 48 hours of the second dose. Isaiah’s heart started hurting “very very bad” and things began going downhill fast.

Timothy Harrington discusses his inured son with RFK Jr. Timothy's 21-year-old son suffered severe heart inflammation after receiving his second shot. Justin Harrington, whose school required him to get it in order to attend classes in the fall, experienced flu-like symptoms followed by heart pain within eight to 12 hours of receiving the vaccine. Justin’s father, Timothy Harrington, said his son felt different after the second shot. “Every time his heart beat it hurt and he felt pressure,” Harrington said. “Then he developed heart pain down both arms.”

In this episode, Doctor Charles Hoffe and RFK Jr., discuss medical experimentation from World War II to today. Hoffe also reveals exciting new data on immunity evolution citing studies with former SARS patients.

Dr. Charles Hoffe was issued a gag order from the Canadian Interior Health authority after he reported concerns around vaccine safety to colleagues responsible for implementing the vaccine rollout. Dr Hoffe had observed a high rate of severe side effects developing post vaccination including anaphylactic shock and neurological conditions in 900 members of the First Nation community.

Cherie Romney discusses her family's vaccine injuries with RFK Jr. Cherie's son Everest Romney, 17,  received the vaccine April 21 and began experiencing neck pain, fever and severe headaches one day later. His mother said her son’s pediatrician initially dismissed the symptoms as a pulled neck muscle. 

After more than a week of symptoms and being unable to freely move his neck, the family got this diagnosis: two blood clots inside his brain, and one on the outside.

“In a million years, I never expected it,” Romney said. “The worst thing, the worst thing, is to have the doctor come in and say, ‘OK, well, we found two blood clots inside his brain.’ The hardest thing was I let him get that shot. And he was healthy and well before. But you question it, you can’t help but question it when it all goes wrong.”

Romney doesn’t want to discourage parents from letting their kids get the vaccine because she believes each parent must make the decision for their children, but she wished her choice had been a different one.

Dr. Michael Yeadon is a former Vice President of Pfizer and an Allergy & Respiratory Therapeutic Area expert with 23 years in the pharmaceutical industry. He trained as a biochemist and pharmacologist, obtaining his PhD from the University of Surrey in 1988.

Dr. Eileen Natuzzi is a retired acute care and trauma surgeon with a masters in public health. In 2020, she was on the front lines for the San Diego County Department of Public Health on COVID contact tracing, case infection, and outbreak investigation. 

Natuzzi is also involved in Global Health work in the South Pacific, specifically Solomon Islands.
