This week the crew digs into all of the news to come out of the largest tradeshow in the RC helicopter hobby: Rotor Live. With a mix of exclusive interviews from the tradeshow floor the crew walks you through all of the new models and electronics to be released at Rotor Live. Scorpion and Midland Helicopter team pilot Rob Bingham is also back this year to bring us interviews from the tradeshow floor again. You won't find coverage of Rotor Live this in depth anywhere else, so sit back, grab a drink, and enjoy all of the updates from the major brands in the hobby.
Putting an episode like this together isn't easy... so we want to offer a special thanks to Rob Bingham, as well as to Simone Zunterer's youtube channel as well as RC Helicopter Richard's for helping to bring some of the event to life and help us feel like we were there. Chris Kim from the OMP Hobby team joins us as we review the new OMP Hobby M2 Mk 2 Evo micro helicopter. While we mainly focus on the Vbar Neo/Evo and Rotorflight FBLs, the concepts described are universally applicable to most flybarless units. Jiawen has studied control loops and systems in depth at Stanford University where he earned his graduate degree in mechanical engineering. So pull up a chair, get out a notebook, and dig into this episode with us as we all learn how to improve the performance of our RC helicopters.
There's also the usual updates as we bought stuff, flew stuff, crashed stuff and sold stuff, and we also dig into the latest news in the hobby.

This week Alex, Kenny and Nick sit down with Rotorflight power user Tomas Kirnak to discuss this extremely affordable FBL that utilizes open source community written software to power it. We cover the basics of how to get involved with the rotorflight community, what are the hardware options, which radios it's compatible with, how is the setup process, what's the learning curve like, how does it fly, what's tuning like, and who is it really aimed at. At 100 dollars per FBL and being able to purchase a radio that would allow complete integration and forward programming for only 250 dollars, it's a system you can buy 3 or 4 of for the price of some more expensive radio and fbl combos. Our hope is to help guide your purchasing decisions by explaining just what you would be getting yourselves into, and where to find help if you decide to take it on. Special thanks to everyone in the Rotorflight community who helped us with this episode.
On top of all that we catch up with the crew (spoiler alert: there all back to flying again!), as well as cover the latest news in the hobby. There's also some updates on how to get a hold of us, as well as the latest on swag here at the Revolution. As always, for listener questions, advertising inquiries, funfly information, or any news items you would like us to cover you can email us at [email protected], or message us at our facebook page at www.facebook.com/rotorrevolutionrcpodcast.

We've got a special treat for you all this week. We've talked before about how much we love the stories behind the products. Greggor McGrath of Absolute CNC products has a unique story to tell. We'll hear how his first CNC machine bought of a craigslist ad turned into a sucessful hobby business, and how a conversation between nitro enthusiasts turned into designing one of the best pipes for nitro helicopters to come around in a long time. But even if you aren't a nitro fan you'll enjoy the story behind the development and how a small community of enthusiasts can come together to develop, test and bring to market a unique new product. We've also got plenty of news on the leadin to the now completed Rotor Live, and our usual updates. Speaking of Rotor Live... we have what we think will be a GREAT episode coming in a couple weeks with all of the updates on new equipment coming out of Rotor Live.

BREAKING NEWS!!! Surprise! This week we're releasing a special edition mini episode (on our off week!) all about the Dubai Masters. Sean Hall of Helidirect drops in to give us the inside scoop on what went down at the recent Dubai Masters Invitational 3D competition. We'll hear about some of the challenges they faced, some crashes, the entire field doing piroflips at the same time together all along the runway, spending time with announcer Nik Johnson and organizer Tareq Alsaadi, and many more details about the contest. Sadly the whole crew couldn't make this one as we rushed it into production, but we hope you'll enjoy it. As always thanks for listening! The whole crew will be back next week with a very special guest on our usual schedule.

Episode 9 (are we really almost at double digits?, that was quick!) is jam packed with goodness! The efforts to make Alex buy a Dnamic continue, Nick flies almost as much as Alex, Kenny digs in to tuning his Dnamic and lots more. The news is short and sweet this time as we head into the lull before all the Rotor Live announcements. Stay tuned as we'll have some special rotor live coverage in a future episode.
We take advantage of the extra time to dig into Scott Graham's new flybarless / radio comparison series on his new "This Vs. That" youtube channel. We'll learn all about the various comparison methods, which electonics he plans to cover, and why the whole thing came about. We can't think of anyone better to do a proper fair comparison between all these FBLs and we're looking forward to seeing more from Scott. You can check out his Youtube channel at: www.youtube.com/@TheOfficialThisVSThat

Heads up! This episode is a long one, but a good one we think you'll all enjoy! We catch up with Alex, Kenny, and Nick, and then dig into a big news week. Lots to talk about on this one, including the recent issues with Radiomaster AG01v gimbals installed in Vcontrol transmitters. Just that much is an episode in itself... follow that up with a great interview with the one and only Bert Kammerer of BK Hobbies and SAB USA. Hear about Bert's beginnings, his time on the successful video series Smack Talk RC, and what you might see from SAB, Theta, BK Servos, and BK Hobbies in 2024. It's a long interview, full of great stories and information, and honestly we could have kept on going!
