Shellshocked Radio Talks & Music Recommendations
Today a song from a band which everyone knows in Germany and most likely the German speaking parts of the world.
@Die Ärzte "Bitte, Bitte", came out 1989, a very significant year for an east German like me, if you know the German history.
It is not a typical song from this mostly known for their punk songs band. It has more Gothic connotations and holds up quite well still today.
It has some s/m undertones which I completely missed as a teenager (whipping, being a slave of someone), I mostly got the censorship and repression they visualize here. As they were known for their risky songs (about bestiality for example) they faced a few bans and some singles were not allowed to be sold over the counter back then.
Anyway, the song "Bitte, Bitte" (meaning "Please, Please") :

is still a great song after all these years and I hopefully do not say that because I was a young, impressionable teenager, in my formative years back then. It is closer to the likes of @The Cure then their usual punk fare.
