This week Tom & Zeus review and discuss the 1977 NBC mini-documentary "Land Of Hype And Glory," which had a segment on KISS at their height of popularity. Narrated by veteran newsman Edwin Newman, the documentary focuses on salesmanship or hype in the late 1970's. The documentary is quite pessimistic and the curmudgeon host does his best to minimize KISS and speak of their fame and notoriety in a dismissive fashion. The documentary is split into three segments, music, books and movies and begins with "hype" in the music industry and specifically KISS. The show features a legendary photo shoot, classic clips of the band performing, a small interview and segment on the comic books. Its a must watch for any KISS fan and the guys give the show the SIOL treatment. Finally the guys rank the tv appearance against the previous KISS tv appearances reviewed.
