Today’s episode is out of this world! We’re headed back to the 1960s and listening to “Rocketman” nonstop as we talk Neil Armstrong and his first wife, Janet Shearon. Their story gives the phrase “I love you to the moon and back” a very literal meaning, but sadly sometimes the greatest distance in relationships can be felt here on earth.
Both Neil and Janet were committed to the Apollo 8 cause, which for Janet meant taking on sole ownership of raising their family. Their relationship was rocked by the tragic loss of their daughter, Karen, and their vastly different forms of grieving. Join us as we piece together their highly private relationship and look back on the 2018 film, “First Man,” and discuss the creative liberties taken in telling their story.
